About that website thing I mentioned...
Added 2023-05-23 21:18:29 +0000 UTCYes. The BPL is building a website. Because we're gonna party like its 1999.
Seriously.

Good Morning Tex I want to drop a line as it is the end of the month and I need to as you have always said, pay my own bills. I wanted to wait because I did not want you to take the downgrade as a respond to TTH because that was amazing. I enjoyed your starship Troopers stream and hope you do more. I will still be around to ask questions (you can't get rid of me that easily) and when things stabilize I will again up my level but until then have a cup of coffee. And always pay yours bills. Keep fighting one step at a time.

2023-05-30 06:46:32 +0000 UTCI've missed a few updates due to things completely and totally not my idea... Or because I am crap and like to play chicken with the next week's update and usually miss. If this next comment/question strikes too close to the reasons you're searching for a new job feel free to skip it, but with how the west is deploying stuff to Ukraine I can't help wondering if this conflict is now being used just like the Spanish Civil War was last century. Just a random though as a dumb little enlisted, not sure if I'm totally off the mark or not. Anyways, have a good week hombre, and Remember, if it ain't broke, you're not trying.

2023-05-30 06:37:20 +0000 UTCHeh. I love you you tied that Dr. Christmas in with software dev stuff there. Those mofos that bounce from job to job at high levels are the bane of my exitense. So much of IT is driven by them and what ever "Good" Idea Fairy is whispering in their ear. Was seriously pondering a change in careers till I landed at my current job given the massive burn out from dealing with bad ideas and companies looking to implement similar bad ideas. Speaking of the internet and dealing with people, I've always been fond of the idea of treating the internet like you would your local bar. Speaking of Youtube notifications, I don't think I've ever seen one for anything I follow. Speaking of which, I've found the best way to follow stuff on Youtube, Twitter(via a Nitter instance), and Reddit is RSS. That way I can easily see what all I am following has new stuff. A bit more on Youtube, I am so waiting for a meaningful replacement for Youtube that is also resilent. Peertube is interesting, but it suffers from the problem of resilency due to the limited size of each individual instance(lack of replication between instances(thanks to cost of storage space and bandwidth for videos)). Speaking of ChatGPT, look up Roberto Mata v. Avianca in which the dude's lawyer was visited by the "Good" Idea Fairy and the had it write a legal submission for them... ```Judge Castel said in an order that he had been presented with “an unprecedented circumstance,” a legal submission replete with “bogus judicial decisions, with bogus quotes and bogus internal citations.” He ordered a hearing for June 8 to discuss potential sanctions.``` Best of luck with the job hunt. <3

2023-05-30 03:31:58 +0000 UTCTex, I just saw the short of Invictus, and know you are having some health issues .. I'm a couple updates behind, but.. Is everything ok?
2023-05-30 03:31:23 +0000 UTCHey Tex know that I’m hoping for you and your team to have all the happiness. I had two questions, first the serious one. Did your Fallout New Vegas play through get lost in the hack? I tried to find it on the channel but couldn’t. Second less serious question. When did you last laugh uncontrollably and what made you laugh like that. Hope you have a safe a happy Memorial Day.

2023-05-30 01:29:48 +0000 UTCTex, go buy a pillow. A good pillow. Take a nap. Share it with your team. Take a team nap. Stay alive and healthy. You all don't get to go Kentaro Miura on us. I wish to share your works with the boys when I'm in the retirement home. Just kidding, I'm not retiring. May we all keep getting up.

2023-05-28 15:02:24 +0000 UTCLooking forward to the website, I've had ideas kicking around for a web 1.0 site for a while, just haven't had the chance to put it together yet. Can't stand all the template web sites these days, you've gotta do something to break the mold.

2023-05-27 00:00:14 +0000 UTCI remember when I first became aware of Battletech as a kid in the 90s. My parents (who likely knew nothing of Battletech at all, and just got it because they thought the title of cover was cool) got me Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries. And I played the crap out of it. I still remember how House Davion took all the credit for my Merc companies hard work lol

2023-05-26 07:24:31 +0000 UTCThe website sounds like a wonderful idea Mr Tex, I look forward to seeing this be accomplished in the future as it sounds delightful and the text based gaming and forums sounds fun and I hope my contribution helps in seeing this become reality.
2023-05-26 00:33:04 +0000 UTCKnown many Dr Christmas types in my 15 years in corporate fleet maintenance oufit. Tried real hard to climb that ladder. I stopped and left when I realized every level of management is only interested in being told everything fine. Everyone just wants to be lied to so they can tell thier boss the same lie.

2023-05-25 23:26:01 +0000 UTCJust stopping in to report the latest BPL podcast (No.130) had me laughing so hard at lunch, the Navy SP’s (I work on a navy base) stopped and rushed over because they thought I was choking. I never really learned how laugh and in the very rare instances when I laugh hard, I make gasping noises and convulse a bit. Now two more people are aware of your work and hopefully will look it up and enjoy it.

2023-05-25 19:30:34 +0000 UTCBeing regularly punctuated by Mr. Train really sets the tone of these talks. Just wanted to let you know, I appreciate these little solo-podcast bits every week, its a much needed little chunk of catharsis for me every week. Its good that its not constant, but just a little bit semi regularly is a great little thing.

2023-05-25 16:16:35 +0000 UTC"Howdy folks, Tex of the Black Pants Legion" Me: Wow Tex sounds tired. "And boy am I tired." OH. Sometimes I get the feeling Mr Train (Esq.) is just lonely and this is his way of reaching out to the public at large

2023-05-25 03:05:37 +0000 UTCHey Tex, tell the team I said they did a great job. Take a bow yourself, if Mr. Train will allow it. I always enjoy your updates and think you and the team did a stellar job on "The Christmas Bullet." I enjoyed being taken back to the days of Forza before there was an open world and a Horizon. My favorite races were always the lower classes and taking a Hyundai Tiburon or Toyota Celica and modifying the hell out of and competing with the much higher classes of cars. Yeah, they might take me on the straights, but my tires were so soft I could corner way faster than they could. I heard you were making a website, and I figured I'd hop up a tier to help pay for the extra bottle of Excedrin you'll need. I'm worried you might try to make something that your members, followers and patrons will consider fun, and fall short of your expectations. If I can give you a piece of advice, just focus on making something fun. The rest should take care of itself. I hear you read a lot of comments from those that tell you to take care of yourself. That's probably good advice. I should think about doing that too. Instead of repeating all of their good advice, I'd give you some advice from the movie Heat, which happens to be the first movie I listened to where the gunfire sounded right. To paraphrase, you need to be ready to let it all go and walk away. You don't owe me anything. The day you don't enjoy this work, the day where you are dreading calling the team and beginning work on the next project, you need to be free to walk away. Everything is fleeting and this will pass. Keep some resources to have a nice orderly shutdown and walk off into the sunset.

2023-05-25 01:37:52 +0000 UTCHey Tex, as we slide into the corporate dystopia I was wondering what your thoughts are on the Pinkerton raid from Hasbro? On my end it marked the end of buying anything else from WOTC/Hasbro
2023-05-24 18:52:18 +0000 UTCGreat update, thank you! Great to hear the Red Green closing there! I'm apparently one of the strange folks who used the Hunchback, but usually the -4P since I really like the simple logistics for campaigns and of course steady damage from 8 Med Lasers... Just going to be a bit warm if you did an Alpha strike... No worries about ammo explosions though and your MRE/Coffee were going to be warm for you...

2023-05-24 14:56:31 +0000 UTCFor what my two cents is worth, ill gladly help fund a BPL page where legionaires can showcase thier work and let it be seen without all the rest of the YouTube garbage. Also I'm glad you enjoyed the last story. If I can make a few people chuckle then I've done my work for the day. So another story, I'm working one day recently and I get a phone call from my wife, who is trying not to choke on a laugh. I ask if she is okay bc she is vapor locking real bad...she then says that we need to watch how and what we say around the girls...my response is "awww fuck, what did they say" my wife still laughing says "Your youngest was walking down the hallway and clipped her foot on a register and without thinking she looked at it and said "This is fucking bullshit!" I stop bc I'm now vapor locking from laughing and I tell my wife "I'm actually more impressed that a 4 year old used the phrase correctly and didn't substitute any words in!" To which we both broke down laughing. I told someone else that story and just looked at them and said that I was never trying to be dad of the year...just dad. Hope this all finds you as well as can be, keep up the great work!

2023-05-24 04:13:07 +0000 UTCHoratio Hornblower is what inspired both Sharpe's Rifles and the Aubery Maturin novels, as well as the Honor Harrington series by David Weber. Me, I'm a fan of all of them. A&E did a pretty good miniseries for Hornblower in the early 2000's starring Ion Gruffid.

2023-05-24 02:38:26 +0000 UTCI find the concept of a BPL website extremely interesting, especially considering the state of large platforms like YouTube and Twitter at the moment. Part of me hopes that content creators having their own websites for more than simply merch becomes the norm, as unlikely as it seems. I'm just old enough to remember the internet before YouTube/Twitter was big, and I'd certainly prefer that to what we have now. A question, since I'm quite fond of late Age of Sail history and surrounding works. What do you think of the Horatio Hornblower novels? I only picked up the series in the last year, and found something of a kindred spirit in the titular character. I prefer the series to the few Aubrey and Maturin novel's, since it isn't quite so dense. On another note, I heard the term "Safety Factor" used for the first time in a professional setting last week and just barely kept myself from laughing out loud. Top work on TTH, Godspeed.
2023-05-24 02:24:31 +0000 UTCHey Tex, I am in agreement with being with in competition with yourself. It is getting tough to due the comic book, and life things, but I am trudging on. Being a leader of a "Crew" I seem to do better getting instructions. I find myself doing all I can to pull my weight, and not delegate the work away. I love the team yours and mine! Keep up the great work.
