A strange chord and a mixing tool!

New videos!

So I've been obsessed with this chord for a long time and wanted to explore it with you. And also see if you wanted to try anything with it that I might feature in a future video! More details within.

My previous video is about Soothe2, a unique mixing and audio cleanup tool. They reached out to sponsor this, but I've been using it for the last 3 years so it's very easy for me to get behind sharing about it.

Hope all is well, and I'll be back with a new video soon!

Hey Andrew! What do you think the timeline for accepting submissions to this will be?

I'd say that's entirely context dependent. As a D11 voicing it would be a possible but outlandish choice since all the D major notes are an octave higher than the C major notes and that makes it come across very much as a C chord. But you could probably use it in that way without a hitch if other instruments in the arrangement are reinforcing the D-ness. To compare a simpler example, if you needed a C6 (CEGA) could you also just play an Am7 (ACEG)? Maybe, also depending on context, but it would generally feel a lot more A minor-y I think!

(So, it’d be an extended V chord and should work as a replacement for all those cases where a dominant chord is used…)

Is it just me or is the “C” version an inversion of D11?
