The Post Marauder Update

Here's where we're goin, where we've been, and what's up.

Comments

"Unfortunately this is my voice" hell, your voice is part of what sold me to this. It's tragic as fuck though where it came from, and for what it's worth you've got this mook on the internet's sympathy and support. EDIT: I suppose I should qualify - Came for the voice, stayed for the setting and the fact that legitimately good people creating content just feel rare these days, and it's something always welcome to see. I'm with the guys above. Take a break! Don't burn yourself out doing this stuff. We love the videos but nowhere near to the level of wanting you to be miserable with it!

Iden DeSeer

Good to hear you are taking a break, we don't want you burning out again. I was starting to get worried that you were going to get lost in the work again. Take care, Tex. Hell, tell Mike to take a break too, that mad bastard has been hauling ass.

King_of_Crota

I have to say the marauder vid was one of THE best so faar, and its one of my favorite mechs in Batlletech. 10 out of 10 on that vid. Btw, are you going to have anny more roles in Hired steel vids?

Vincent Von Wrath

I see the BattleTech Clan Heavy Striker Star mini's box I sent Discount Dan was delivered. Got one more surprise that says it's "ready for pickup". I assume that means it's at his P.O. Box. ...enjoy Dan.

Glad we got to Scrombles cameo! going to have to catch back up on Scrombles the Mechwarrior, last episode I left off on a bunch of pirates landed their drop ship on your awesome with all the lost tech.

I wanna Marauder! I am currently playing MW5 and I keep legging Marauders I fight, but no salvage! WHY YOU NO SALVAGE!

Ghost of Tanith

Ok...was playing "Crash Test Dummies" "mmmm mmmm mmm mmm" in the back ground of this update.... ummmmm a little awesome. And I will always remember you as the Asshole that got me to double down on my Love for Battletech and got me Love the Lore even more. Also, I agree with you about Happiness, I have Learned you can't really enjoy Happiness and the good time until you have had some really Deep Shit Bat Crazy deep dark times in your life. So with that....remember my motto... "May your aim be true and your cause just and...ummmm well, ummmm Oh hell, Just kill 'em all." Give Slong and Procriate ..ummm I mean..Live Long and Prosper.

The Marauder video was great, thank you all for your time! The production quality keeps getting better and better. You guys inspired me to start writing again and helped me to realize that it's okay if it's tough, that's how the muse works sometimes. Enjoy your down time, you've definitely earned it!

I really appreciate what your doing with Battletech, I feel like you have made the lore come to life and I listen to just about everything you have posted. I feel your pain on the ammo issue, and yes things are starting to move back to a normal situation, at least with availability. Please keep up the good work, I look forward to your new postings. Thanks also to all the people that are working with you.

Interesting. Reminds me of some of the projects I've worked on in the past. Didn't know what the deal was behind your voice... thank you for sharing it, and yourself, with us, despite what it costs you personally. Means a lot.

Scott Malcomson

I had no idea the Taurians had their own Marauder variant. I've got something new to add to my collection. Please pass on my sincere thanks to everyone for their hard work.

Tex, it’s always amazing to hear you talk about, well everything. Take care of yourself, your mind and body, take care of your happiness. As a person, you are one of the good ones out there, without a doubt. Take your time and make the content on your time, not ours. Much love Tex and crew.

Mathew C

Tex, you were right, the marauder video was worth waiting for, I don’t know how you and the team not only keep churning out feature length documentaries but make them better and better each time. Kudos, and thanks for the insight into the process.

Daniel Genn

Welcome all new Patrons! Also thanks for the kind words you shared with us Tex. Hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Man Tex, thanks for the in depth look on how you make these. God speed Tex, God speed

Almost 7 months ago now I was sitting in a hospital room. The next day they would operate on my heart to fix a borked valve, and I decided to write you a thank you, because as high a success rate as they have, I wasn't sure about what would happen. When catching up with the podcast months later, it turned out it was one of the last written ones you guys addressed, and I actually kind of embarrassed myself with it - it wasn't funny or a question, and I hope it didn't come across as grabbing attention, but I did want to thank you guys. And now, again. I've been wanting to focus on the fun stuff instead of the frustrations, and in the months of recovery, the videos and the podcast in particular have been a massive help in staying sane. Several times now, I've found myself grinning like an idiot while walking to a store, or around the park, trying to not break out into laughter and looking entirely insane. 10/10, would scare random pedestrians again. It's fantastic to see what you guys have done with TTBT. The Marauder episode was fantastic, and I'm happy to see that you could commission the work that you did. No ragrets. Thank you all.. and keep up the awesome work.

Great chat, a great insight into the "Tex Talks Battletech" process, and Tex. Never change for anyone.

I was going to ask about whether your voice was going to get worse or if it hurt, but I didn't want to be nosy. Glad you're taking care of yourself, Tex. I realize your voice is a sensitive spot for you, but the actual tone of your voice aside, I've found the way of speaking you bring to TTBT and the obvious love you have for the franchise honestly rather comforting in the past couple months when I was in a bad way. I feel you on being uniquely "prepared" for dealing with the absurdity of the past year or so. I was rewatching some of the early TTBT episodes and realized that those are basically Professor Tex in his off hours, when you catch him at the bar rather than in class and he goes "siddown fucko, fill my glass and I'll tell you about the Thor." I thought about trying to join the Legion to try to help with TTBT, but I've got basically no relevant skills to offer besides a love of the franchise and some past amateur text editing experience.

Hey, thanks for sharing. I'm in a similar boat on many fronts. I got damn lucky to keep my voice, but an industrial accident more or less ruined my ability to sing. What you and the BPL team does brings me great joy, which is why I started taking a shot at it too. Thank you for creating, and persevering.

P.S. This is very much more personal than the usual update. I appreciate your candor Mr. Tex. My son and I have high functioning diagnosed Spectrum disorder. I hate labels, but evidence based life experience sort of reveals the truth.

Good Evening. That's a question answered I thought about asking (your voice). From what I've learned through speaking to many people who lived life harder and differently than me I've noticed many have a reason for everything. The thing about lives is that we can learn something new from everyone we meet. Thank you for speaking at length about your voice condition Mr. Tex.
