Good post man. I appreciate a great deal of what you share; both the (fantabular and splendous) BattleTech and BPL content, and this more personal stuff. Why you resonate with people I think is that they can hear the decency. And that in turn makes them want to appropriate you as spokeperson so they can apply you for or against things. "Tex for President" might be sweet because it expresses a high level of regard, respect, gratitude, etc. it's misplaced when ignores the wishes of the individual. This whole mess reminds me of a Cary Grant story where he's trying to get into an event and tells the ticket taker, "I'm terribly sorry, I forgot my ticket. May I get in please?" As the ticket taker was looking for his name, Grant says, "It's Cary Grant." "You don't look like Cary Grant," said the ticket taker. Grant says, "I know, nobody does." I feel like you're experiencing projected expectation of "Tex, the persona" outpacing "Tex, hey there's a man behind the moniker" because people cannot separate the satyr from the person. So to whomever you are; thank you for good content, good thoughts (which I believe are well balanced), and for the continued willingness to be vulnerable within healthy boundaries. May this weeks' cosmic-spirit-beings-solar-rotation-anniversary see the beginnings of the internet's demagogues getting off your lawn and leaving you in peace.

Hey now, I have a soft spot for the Vulcan (and 40 tonners in general). I played the Mechwarrior RPG in high school, and that thing was basically "my" mech until I eventually upgraded to a Grasshopper.

I really like the message that you put out in this, that we should all be kind, try to be good to others, help and be positive instead of just starting fires for the hell of it. Politics starts more fights than it finishes, and it's nice that there's a cool and fun place I can run to and escape that shit. Tex Talks Battletech is a great escape. Whatever happens, just know that I really think it's great the way you're handling this, that you're doing your best not to just let loose the dogs of war, but to let it go and not contribute to the hate culture. It's really important I think, and very much needed these days. Stay strong and keep doing whatever you need to do to take care of yourself.
