WELCOME TO THE END OF NOVEMBER...

Comments

I better buckle in, this one's an hour! Merry Xmas 2021 everybody!

Walt_Man

That was a great read. Great book

Tex i finally got to it. Google vs Bing Results https://imgur.com/a/tmqONTI So i guess based on the results both Google and Bing bounce back location based results, where Google bounces back more personalized results? Maybe a more better test could have been done. Regardless I look forward to the Christmas dump and helping support Mission 22. Question: What is the one dish you look forward to eating over the holidays? Mine is our family's twice baked potatoes.

Daniel Cadwell

Hey Tex, this was a great post my entire gaming group has switched from 40K and D&D to Battletech and Mechwarrior Destiny, so we understand the sentiment in this post. My question is will there be any new mechwarrior madness videos at any point?

Question: Favorite James Bond intro song?

Jason Turner

Hey Tex what do you who think was the most influential admiral between 1900 to 1920

Bronze Goose

Question: are you having to move because you need more yard to put used Migs in your yard? Will they have tires, or full redneck: migs on cinderblocks?

Mad Ducks

Questions to follow. What an exciting turn of events! I hope you got a good price and the house is everything you want it to be! And I feel I should say the shaloms are/were appreciated, though to clarify I am not of that particular breed. The previous name of my vessel was taken from an obscure, old YTP wherein someone was made to say "give me the Jewish hotdog". I simply found that "Yeetus Deletus" was more amusing, and of course 1337ed it as a matter of tradition. There is indeed a chance it may change in the future. Now, the questions. 1. Will the new abode still be [LOCATION REDACTED], or will it be something new, such as [COORDINATES EXPUNGED]? 2. Can coal-powered ships use charcoal and/or wood as well, and if so, could their funnels be used as smokers for barbecue?

Question: In your Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts videos you talk about proper sources and being skeptical of memoirs when studying history. What are your thoughts on war diaries or memoirs written from war diaries? I've been reading "Blood Red Snow: The Memoirs of a German Soldier on the Eastern Front" and the author so far hasn't pulled any punches and seems to have been honest about the "unsavory" things he saw or was ordered to do.

5 years ago I sold my house in the country and moved 1,900 miles for a job into a city apartment. I miss mowing my grass. Ownership was never anxiety for me. It was pride. Recently took another position but now it is 63 miles out into the country side. Very rural where this facility is located. Yes, oh yes, time for another house again so I can mow my own grass.

Historical Stupidity Question: Now we have a lot of what-ifs and other brainfarts. So. What if? What if Truman had supported Ho Chi Minh with his independence movement hardcore? How would that change the geopolitical situation in 50s and 60s? I have no clue. But it's a fun brainfart that I had a few days ago. Have a pleasant December, mister Tex.

FlyingTorpedoWhale

Tex, being a homeowner is great but will also give you OODLES of anxiety!!! I'm living in and renovating a 75 year old crack house (with my very understanding wife). If you ever need any help or advice there are plenty of us that can pitch in.

as a new BattleTech fan i am sad i caint game (tabletop for now ) but i do torture my friends with 2 d10s and what ever setting i can find i toss them into a setting whether thay know the stting or not and it all starts off with the line "you wake up in a 5 year old body in a strange land" and odlly they have lasted in the BattleTech setting longest all because they run and hide when they start losing and the dice gods faver them

Toby the couch surfer

Have you heard of the "On The Origin of Battlemechs Podcast"? They have a channel on YouTube and go over Battlemechs both in universe, and tabletop. They have very interesting discussions.

Very excited for Pantsmurdered! Do you have a favorite Dwarf Fortress tileset?

Rick Jenkins

Congrats

Congrats on the house! What style did you go for? What's the first thing your excited to work on with the place?

congrats on the house man!

Krathognis

Good to hear from you, sir! Always great to hear more about the Milsurp stuff... Collected a bunch of that in my younger days when I got out, just don't see them as often, certainly not the nicer ones we saw back in the late 90's...

Paul Chappell

Congrats on the house man, hope the new space is beneficial to you. Also is the Thompson for you? Drum or stick mags?

Tex bud, keep doing what you’re doing. We trust your process and would prefer you have things done the correct way than the quick way. I know we sound like a broken record as we say this, but we say it regardless. Also, shitpost about the FN FAL at some point. Its my favorite gun.

TheTrav42

Ooh. Which version of the Thompson? Which version do you think was the best, the worst, and most underrated?

Molly McAllister

Self-insert? Here is mine. With my real last name being Fisher, my "character" would be a bastard son of Duncan Fisher. For the laughs.

Ethan Fisher

To be fair guys like Mage Leader, Crazy Gecko, and Critical Rocket have more than managed to fill the niche of more short form informational Battletech content.

Kasperl Stormcrow

I love the idea of a Van Zandt PDF. :) Good luck and take care Tex. Keep your head up and your knees loose.

BZArcher (Blind Zen Archer)

Okay… hopefully it doesn’t eat my post this time. Mr. tex, when we say you are the most wholesome person we see on platforms, it isn’t because you share details about your life. It’s because the things you draw the line at are areas people like me struggle with. You show us, through your pattern of behaviour, that you are the kind of person many of us would like to be. You attempt to inspire us to be better humans. That should always be praised. Please carry on. Vode An, brother. You will never be left standing alone.

Thanks for recommending Accursed Farms. Game Dungeon is now one of my favorite Playlists on YouTube.

Dopeskone

Oh, yes. Knife Fight City shirt is going to be treasured. And worn til its rags. Because that's what you do with something you love.

Do yall accept well behaved civvies?

Congratulations on the new home Mr. Tex!

Chris Stochaj

Wait, Tex is thinking about making a "Free State of Van Zandt" handbook? Sign me up for the militia on that one. I'm painting a lance of them from my mass of BattleTech minis. I'm jealous you're getting a Thompson. The Peoples Republic of Maryland has unfortunately handicapped our capabilities on getting our hands on one without it being prohibitively expensive or forbidden, even the neutered versions are not allowed. I love my Knife Fight City shirt and the faces of confusion on family while I'm explaining it. Best of luck with the move and congrats on the house.

Sean O'Donnell

I *just* received my Knife Fight City shirt (and some other stuff because drinks need coasters), and it's great. Thank you guys for making something weird and unique. Looking forward to the next TTBT. Just do your thing, make it the way you want it, and in the meantime I'll just enjoy the Mackie, Rifleman and Marauder art Eldonius made, plastered over my wall :)

Erdanya

Airier games on YouTube is doing reaction videos to Tex Talks. He has a lot of questions and he would learn a lit more if he did not interupt the video every thirty seconds.

Michael Carpenter

Mr. Welch did a stream where he read from his list of things he could no longer do in an RPG. He had 66 pages. I'm about 2 hours into the 3+ hour stream and it is hilarious. Thank you for telling me about Mr. Welch.

PPC's4Life!

Dude... if you only do one Tex Talks Battletech per year.. hey its all good!

Scott

Randos: Tex you are a saint Tex: Ma'am this is a Wendy's

Daniel S

Congratulations on the abode!

T V

Question: Thanks for the update Tex. Me and some friends are looking to start up a Battletech rpg game but are curious as to which system is the most compatible with Battletech total war in your opinion. Thanks for everything and God bless.

Jalatron

No spoilers! :) Take your time, take care of your self. Holy shit, just noticed this update is over an hour... bonus podcast! More stupid experiments, please.

With the end of November, if you need a good cure for insomnia, you can listen to me on the Camp Iron Mountain podcast (episode 13). The podcast is an awesome one run by an Army buddy of mine and he does a wonderful job exploring military history, and how we are connected past and present though that wonderful and odd fraternity of arms.
