Hey Tex, thank you for the thorough response to my question. It was much more in depth than it deserved! Thank you for the tips on getting into voice acting.
2022-05-20 01:41:50 +0000 UTCTex, the vids are great. If things need to be improved then do so. But you are the first to do this for Battletech. Mechwarriors don't do it because it must be done, we do it because it is fun. Just go Taurian on the haters. Van Zandt forever.

2022-05-18 16:06:25 +0000 UTCHoly actual fuck that last snippet actually rustles my jimmies a bit. Of course talking history is political. Its history. Of people. Politics is people interacting on a mass scale. Whats the phrase? War is politics by any other means? I probably butchered that but all the same, this is why we can't have nice things. Overall definitely on the reasonable side for all you've got planned. I do have a couple things to comment on, and I want to preface this with I'm relatively new to BT and havent dug nearly as deep into the lore as you or a lot of the other old school grognards, so this is coming from a position of surface level knowledge here. 1 - when you say the rim worlds republic was pretty uniform unlike the other periphery powers, is that in and of itself worth a look into and digging into the lore as part of this idea of a guide to the periphery? Apart from the schism I'm only just now seeing bits about during the reunification wars, I know diddly squat about them outside of the Amaris Coup two parter you did. If you start with Canopus, a full fledged dive into the rest of the major players in the periphery would be a nice follow on to explore factions that dont seem to get half as much deep dives as the main successor states. 2 - on the subject of the successor states (and moreso, the succession wars) how would you plan to approach something so huge? It took two videos just to cover the fall of the Star League, which in and of itself covered a much smaller range of both time and space. Even just digging into single campaigns could be a video all their own potentially, just from eyeballing the Davion/Kurita battles of the 1st war. I know you're saying you want to stick to long form and strive to add the right amount of relevant detail to give context to the whole thing, so my ultimate question is would it be worth making a full blown series of smaller, maybe 30-60 minute videos detailing different elements of the Succession Wars? That way you can have a smaller scope per video, while keeping the overall goal of covering all the context you aim for across the series and hopefully avoid scope creep in any individual production. If its something that wouldn't help then thats fair. Again, not an expert by any means here. As an aside, the TTB videos from about the Tukayyid onward definitely work in an audio only format. They've been great for long drives, of offer comment on that snippet. Looking forward to the next update. Hang in there, Tex. Still rootin' for you and the team, as always.

2022-05-17 20:43:08 +0000 UTCQuestion: Is "Space West Virginia" part of Van Zandt? I remember the location being a gag in one of the Amaris Civil War episodes, but I think it belongs. As someone born, raised, and living in WV I was just curious. Thanks! I had a much longer question originally with backstory and ideas of what that area where they live would look like, but it's not necessary for the question so I removed it.

2022-05-17 17:32:09 +0000 UTCIf you want to have utility in a challenge coin you should look into getting a challenge coin/bottle opener. I am still using one I got when I was in the Army ten years ago.

2022-05-16 17:23:12 +0000 UTCWhelp just finished listening to episode 98 of the bpl podcast. Everything was great, some real funny bits...and then you had to just go and do it. You just had to. You ruined twinkies for me. BANANA CREAM? ARE YOU SERIOUS? I've been eating this crappy fake sugar stuff and I could have been having BANANA CREAM in my twinkie? You're so lucky the War rocket is down for maintenance, those Hawkmen are hard on the engines, otherwise....I'd be collecting YOU sir. YOU! But...as I'm still looking forward to the Charger episode....I'll accept your plea for mercy. Good podcast sirs good podcast.

2022-05-16 15:02:30 +0000 UTCPlease don't shorten the videos. It's what makes them so different from the rest of YouTube. It's part of what drew me to your content, that I can just get lost in the battletech universe for several hours. i don't know why but the "hey email" slip gave me a good laugh. Hey email could you not give the bills. Just burn em. Tree like shit tube. Tree break shit tube and block tube. Human burn tree. To ground. Why human? don't fuck with the shit tube. You have perfectly good dirt. Eat that.
2022-05-16 13:55:52 +0000 UTCsomeone on the podcast asked about costs of mech operation in terms of maintenance. that stuff is in the mercenaries book

2022-05-16 08:20:26 +0000 UTCAbout the ‘Tex Talks’ as podcasts; the two buddies that I harassed into watching generally will watch the video the first time and then listen as a podcast while out on the road. While this has gotten them both into Battletech, the fact the network penetration tester now has exclaims ‘Praise Blake!’ concerns me. Especially I did a 45 minute overview of COMMSTAR’s history and highlighted ROM, Operation Holy Shroud, and the WoBies. Was not aware of the Blaser 93, but I am very well aware how expensive niche fire arms are. I still somewhat regret getting the metric FAL. And I meant the ‘screw the Mosin’ in jest. That was the best $70 I ever spent. I like my K31 better, even if she’s gotten a bit beat up over the years.

2022-05-15 20:56:15 +0000 UTCOne of the “dumb things” people don’t know is funding a summer dinosaur dig is about the cost of car. Imagine the BPL having a dinosaur skeleton ;)
2022-05-14 15:55:22 +0000 UTCyes to the canon i think we would all be happy about that
