A brief rant of a reminder, and an update as well

If you're up on Reddit, I bet the /r/usps subreddit would love to see your Marines. There's a guy painting his Battletech stuff in a USPS scheme. And while you're there, you should join their Discord by sending the mods a message and then some kind of proof that you're an employee. I'd love to see your model work in our discord server. -Former /r/usps moderator, Vendrette. (Rural Reg) (Alternatively, if you're in the Aux, shoot me a message and I can directly invite you into the /r/usps discord myself. I go by Vendrette there. DMs open, much like Mr Tex's.)

What i would love to do sometime, is buy a bkank ncr desert rsnger helmet, paint it postal colors and make a costume out of it, I would have all the rest of the postal gear

The Mailman

The Van Zandt postal logo, from the December VZFSPS PSA video was very 70s, but very sharp. Had a pair of AKs with a letter over them. Tried recreating it for the Aux costume contest and did mediocre.

All is fine was just really out of it after surgery. Now just recovering.

Czarvak

Hope this finds you and your team well. Save your voice as this might get long. (and I don't want pitty) I have to go under the knife in the morning and though it is a "routine" procedure they are putting me under for it. I expect all will be fine and it is just surgery jitters. Anyway I just wanted to say that I have really appreciated all you have done from the orginal xenonauts streams to the crazy fleet antics to the battletech stuff. You inspired me to get into hobbies again (computer, tabletop and miniature painting) And though I am mostly a Lurker in the Aux it always feel right when I am there. None of that would have been possible if you hadn't gotten me through some dark times. And I wanted to just give a meager Thank you from one Robot Jock to another. Keep swinging no matter what and take it one step at a time. And to end on a bright note. Do you think if Joshua Wolf had not been killed by Marik would Natasha had stayed in the sphere?

Czarvak

I really enjoyed Camacho Caballeros too!

Khadgarion

Always good to hear from you, Tex. It is once again time for me to bellow "TAKE MY MONEY, BLACK PANTS MAN.' That is all. Joy of the day to you and your team, and Northwind Forever.

I had Regular Car Reviews on while doing my job today and a thought occurred to me: what we need is the EV equivalent of the Rambler. Engine, Heater/AC, AM/FM radio with Bluetooth audio... that's it. Bare minimum street legal standards, hand crank windows, top speed of "stay in the right-hand lane." I'd buy the shit out of that.

They Call Me Soup Can

I have done so.

MrToBeNamedLater

TBNL, take away sir, spread it to the hills!

Brooks

Add a “not in that way” under it

Mr.Sir1984

Do you want Mr Train? Because that’s how we make Mr Train!

MrToBeNamedLater

To paraphrase another poster but never fuck the general public. That’s how you get more of them.

MrToBeNamedLater

Brooks, I’m borrowing your first sentence. That’s pure gold!

MrToBeNamedLater

Oh this would be *amazing*

MrToBeNamedLater

Offer stands if you wanna cook up a homebrew BT game of some sort.

MrToBeNamedLater

Welcome to the controlled chaotic goodness that is the devoted of the BPL.

Hey Tex, new listener here. While I've always been a tourist with battletech I LOVE the lore and love your history lessons. I recently discovered you watching a pirated broadcast of that fedcom propaganda cartoon you love so much. Comstar seemed to think you important enough to start recommending videos. So despite its fuckery you are doing something right. That aside I did have an idea for a video you could do. Battletech ghost stories. I've seen a couple others on the topic but would love your insight into the subject from a historians perspective.

Luminaire

You're not wrong, Tex. I live in a curated bubble of fellow weirdos so sometimes I forget the horrors of "normie" life. That bullshit has been encroaching lately and I give it a 0/10, don't recommend. Keep the good work coming, we'll be watching!

Ginger_Bitters

My real last name is the same as one of those fencing masters - can I lead the Flowers of Battle? 😜

Ginger_Bitters

Hey Tex, guess what. You’re the fucking best. Keep going, keep being you, you have no idea how much you’ve helped me and others smile. Long live BPL.

Mathew C

Been loving the Arcanum streams. I like giving the elephant gun to the evil gnome. When it misfires he just dissappears.

Dopeskone

Damn onion ninjas! Hugs to all you friendly folks!

Doctor Who: which is the definitive Doctor? My uncle goes with The Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker) since that was in his formative time. Ironically, Tom Baker looks like a doppelgänger of the guy who I learned how to GM from.

Maxx31

SOOOOOOOOON! Disclaimer, Please do NOT fuck the general public. That's how you get more of them. Jokes aside, the fact that you don't try to sell anything, don't slather ads every 5 minutes of a vid and don't pump them out every other day like empty calories for slowly decaying minds is probably the reason why they don't like you Tex. Sucks to be them though cause we won't let them crush our odd little corner of the old net.

Brooks

Mr Tex, (feel free to save your voice) First off, thank you so much for all you do, and for giving me a springboard to get into Battletech. I came across your video for the Madcat in the before times and it reminded me how much I wanted to learn about this setting. Now for my actual question, I recently tried my hand at DM'ing a homebrew Star Wars Saga Edition campaign and it fell apart on me. This was entirely my fault because I didn't prep enough because doing the prep work started playing merry hell with my ADHD, and it started to fell like school homework after a while. However, this leads into my question. I love DM'ing, but I want to be able to make prep easier on myself so that my brain doesn't fight me on doing it. I know you and much of the legion have neurodivergent brain spiciness, and i was wondering if you had any advice. Specifically to make game prep easier and keep mission creep (for lack of a better term) from setting into a campaign. Again, thank you Tex for all that you do.

Dresmirden

Okay here is the deal. If I hit the Mega Millions I will put up $100K for each of the movies mentioned on podcast if I can produce and direct my own movie set in the Knife Fight City cinematic universe. It would be a shot for shot remake of Walter Hill’s 1979 movie The Warrior except all the guns are hand crossbow and all the gangs are students of different medieval and renaissance fencing schools except the Baseball Furies because you can’t improve on perfection. Mainly I want to do this because I want to see The Punks fight with Flammenschwert two-handed swords while tearing around on roller skates.

Jellicoe Cats

First save your voice! Second thank you for the work you and the team do, my few coins become a lot of entertainment, thank you! Lastly, I was thinking that the 2020s have turned into the uncool cyberpunk future. All the BS none of the cool!

First time commenting on the podcast, I ramble, as a preamble. Started watching to your shenanigans a bit over a year ago after Warlocky (a youtuber) posted a video about MechWarrior 2. Got curious about space feudalism and an absurd mix of futuristic-regression and saw your primer. Alongside with Sven van der Plank, I went deep into a rabbithole I never knew existed until then. Funnily enough, I initially didn't care much for the Mundanus and Ultimate Admiral series and wondered, "But when more stompybots?" Which, outside of listening to lore, I still don't have much investment in because it's just real amazing to listen to all you guys go on about. Then I went on, gave it a shot. Loved mundanus, the chemistry between you all is amazing. I also have 600+ hours in UA:D, ran a successful Italy (closest to my home country), Japan, Russia, China (actually took over 1/5-1/4 of the world as them, holy shit) and currently running a Spanish one. On a laptop. RIP my fucking touchpad. Either way, podcasts good. Listened to the preview of this uh, voice-message? Monologue? However else ya go about it. I'm normally very cagy about subscriptions but, if anyone deserves a dollar. You do. All you, the BLP, Auxillary and WBPL76 crowd do, I don't feel bad about it at all. Do take care and, I challenge you. Be as kind to yourself as you tell others to do so to themselves. 'till then o/

Eris Acantha

Tex, I think you found your merch slogan (I know you don’t want to actually sell merch)! I would wear the goddamn armpits out of a BPL “Fuck the General Public” shirt.

Mr.Sir1984

G'Day Tex Ohh Diablo 2. My friends and I used to play that A LOT and one of our favourite parties was "Powerpuff Girls" which was 3 Sorceress's each with one of the elements (fire, electricy & ice). The only weekness was physical damage so the fire sorceress had to take some physical as well but the hirelings also helped. Enjoy killing demons

Lord Travis Lance the 3rd Matheson esq

Tex, since you recommended filker Leslie Fish, I'd like to add to the list. Vic Tyler, Heather Alexander/Alexander James Adams, Fany Kayes, Cecilia Eng, and Joe Bethancourt have performed with Leslie and are worth a listen. I recommended Mikey Mason and Tom Smith. What qualifies as a hard or rough life? I won't question someone if they said they had a hard life since I don't know their personal struggles. Part of me wonders if I had a hard life because it sure doesn't seem that way when I learn about what others have went through and survived. Comparison may be the thief of joy but it can also make you think.

My 41st birthday is the last week of this month. Here’s to getting old. Yes, you’re getting my money to support your projects this month, next month and all the months after. Yes, I’m also pretending Twycross is a birthday present. I will enjoy it thoroughly.

MrToBeNamedLater

Nice hardware, bud!

MrToBeNamedLater

Mr. Tex I would like to to proudly inform you that, as you asked I have had the van zandt emblem made into a patch, and I have given them away for free to the battletech players, and new players. Also stickers. So now there are Van zandt stickers and patches all over south Korea. Please take care. Derek

"They don't want you to see this stuff and I don't know why ... I don't even sell anything." I think you found your answer.

Hello Mr. Tex, You've expressed your appreciation for the Andy Chambers era of Warhammer 40k. You've also talked about how you used to enjoy playing Battlefleet Gothic. I was wondering if you were familiar with Dropfleet Commander? It's a space combat game written in-part by Andy Chambers. It's been picked up by a few people at my local game store and was wondering if you had thoughts on it. Also thank you for the endless hours of entertainment with Tex Talks Battletech and the podcast. You've helped make many a dull workweek more bearable.

Tweakspirit

Howdy Tex, Good Times were had this weekend, one of my Close Friends of a Long Time is getting hitched this October so this last weekend was his Bachelor Party, we fired many Guns and I got my hands on an M79, M1 Garand, 5-7 S&W, MPX, M249, and Berret .50, My Shoulder is pain but good times were had and then we did DnD, So Good Times. I've just finished a WoB Demi-Battalion Task Force, so good times there as well. This next month is going to be a Cluster but it'll be worth it, 2 Back to back Dogsitting Jobs taking up the near whole of the month, Siblings moving out [one to Americorp to do Dune Restoration in New England, another to Germany for Foreign Exchange.] So the house is gonna be quiet, so I'm getting set for that. Also Tuck is a Good Egg. And yes, you are correct, the BPL and AUX has been maintaining that Old Internet Flavor, and I am thankful for that. I look forward to the upcoming madness, You'll catch me around, Praise Z0RG and I'll keep ya appraised of Grad School, Good Things coming from ahead.

Grimos

(Save your voice if you can!) Hello Mr Tex, thank you for you, the BPLs, and the aux's great content and y'all's efforts in spreading joy and kindness. Hearing that y'all are putting a team together for tank knights I look forward to seeing what you will do! If these plans happen to include a tabletop system I would be happy to throw my hand in to help in any way I can! Be gming and playing for 10ish years now and have a decent handle on mechanics for a few systems!

Jakethewarlord

Feel free to save your voice. I decided to return the favor to my son for getting me back into Battletech by giving him some of my favorite classic Battletech novels - The Jade Phoenix Trilogy, Ideal War (Space Vietnam) and the Camacho's Caballeros trilogy (my personal favorite) in particular. My personal BT library trails off with the 2nd book in the Dark Age series. My question for you would be what from the newer novels, if any, would you recommend picking up?

Team CasterClan

This will be my 4th or 5th gencon

Fireonfriendly

GenCon is super fun! I went the year before covid and it was incredible! Have fun with it!

Jakethewarlord

I am going to GenCon, especially since I live in state. But I signed up for 2 big Battletech events. One is about some young crusader clans wanting to reinvade the sphere. And one is smoke jaguar vs jade falcon. Next bit feel free to save your voice. So me and some buddies have been playing tabletop battletech, and the one major rule we don't play with is set hardpoints. I asked this in the aux earlier this week and want your take on it. Which method of playing do you prefer? The set hardpoints, or no hardpoints? Cause as a clanner, I have found that with the no hardpoints I start suffering huge BV differences, cause I'm having to pay for omni-tech while my opponents get it for free. Thank ya in advance, and keep on keeping on.

Fireonfriendly

Mmmm, bamboozle me! Bamboozle me soooo hard! Winky face, kissy face, heart symbol, heart symbol, heart symbol. Seriously though, much love from the land of beer keg girls at baseball stadiums, brother.

Hey Tex ! There was a time where you'd get a phone call from your internet provider asking you if you had gone mad trying to upload a 27kb image because their server was making noises like it was about to explode. Youtube was started when the general image output was still partially analog and few people had access to a digital camera. The folks sitting at the big table at Google right now want to streamline everything you do into a profit model : post a quick 30 second or less Tik Tok style video people can watch and gets the highest view/bandwith for maximum profit. It's like those big epic movies like Metropolis, Cleopatra, Lawrence of Arabia, they drew lots of crowds, but you could only run it so many times a day at your local cinema, hence less profit than a 90 minute or less flick.

Nonkel Bob

The Tower Dog leaks, Emperor Lemon: Leafy Was Here - YouTube Geographic. Making a note for further study. Honestly, it's starting to look like they'd just sicced a hacker on you way back when. Left a back door open, something. One possible reason for the throttling would be them having a bandwidth served vs. revenue generated ratio. You hit a threshold, they start messing with the stream. Probably automated, too. They have been looking for loose change in the couch, maybe this is another way of doing that.

Weirdfish

May I recommend cross posting on some other platforms like Newground. It's not as big as YouTube but it could give you some new public and would help to keep videos from being completely disappeared by one corporation.

Mathieu Martineau

Appreciate your work Tex. Especially agree that we are all dealing with stuff and maybe we should see it as unifying. Please save your voice for the rest: played BTA 3062 and found out they swapped artillery to two turns making it complicated. Wish they’d have done one turn to fire and one to reload or something. Thoughts?

B-Mang

Save your voice. Just wanted to say thank you for your content and being one of my go to for lore and mech specs. Left knee is killing me. Tore my minescus in my left knee and it is hard to walk right now.

Mike Carpenter

No question, but just for a moment, I thought Tex was going to tell everyone to open their windows, stick their heads out, and shout "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take it any more!" Regardless, to you and your team, thank you and keep up the good work!

Drake

Thank you for all you and your team do. Your podcasts and Tex Talks are some of my favorites to listen to while working as a Pharmacy Tech at the corner of misery and greed. Keep up the good work and be safe in these crazy times.

Jolope100

10 years ago I woulda said fuck the general public. Now I realize they are getting fucked right along with us.

Jay McIntyre

I would imagine the Van Zandt postal logo is yes, very 70s, but faded b/c they could only make copies of the one surviving logo, but it would probably have a letter and a knife

The Mailman

Holy shit, I haven't thought of YTMND in years. Still remember the WoW themed posts I had saved on it fondly. Good rant, pointing out what the Legion and Aux are, and how wonderful that is. Personally, I think that part of what sent the good old days of the net into the past was the increase in ease of use. Back in the old days, it took some actual effort to get online, to find access the areas communities were built. Most groups had to have a seperate social glue (online games were big for that). It meant that the net was for people of passion, rather than people who passively consume. These days, getting online requires next to no effort, hell, it takes effort to actually unplug! Really, I think the best thing about what you and the other founders have built is that it truly is a community in the older way. Just a bunch of passionate nerds, sharing the good word. Now, I'm afraid I have gone on too long, so I wish you a good morrow! See you around!

Elipses...

I've been with the legion enjoying the shit posting and the memes and the HIGH-QUALITY HIGH ENERGY TOP TIER (you must shout this) VIDEOS that beat all others for years now. I've been so immersed in the BPL that I can't even remember which Tex Talks video (I think...it was the Maruader vid) got me to dive down into the rabbit hole that is the BPL. And now, now I can't imagine not having all the fun I'm having in SS14, playing Roguetech and MW5 and listening to Magistrates being Mundane. ON ward BPL! To Glory and SHIT POSTING! the PIZZA MADNESS is real! HAIL cargonia! For the HAPSBURG! Hawkmen!!!!!!! DIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIVE!

WarRocketAjax

No question this week tex just waiting for the big show see you next week
