Dear Mister Tex, Do you think MechWarriors have a Penske equivalent, and do they fucking hate it as much as truckers hate Penske?

Noblesse Oblahaj

Haven't been around to leave a comment/question for a while due to life... Getting ready for another kid and a deployment at the same time is a bitch. I had stop in to say keep it up in the home stretch though. From one nautically brained individual to another, I'm flying Charlie Golf One, will put out the word and the trailer as wide as I can reach, while trying to keep from squealing like a school girl when I finally see that sweet sweet 'upcoming' pop up on the yubtubs.

Howdy tex, still kicking in spite of life's best efforts, feel free to save your voice, loving Arcanum, loving traveler, you and the crew do fantastic work as always, looking forward to the new drop. Been working on a few projects for friends and finally wrapped up my cursed strahd campaign with strahd taking an rpg to the chest. As far as tank knights, where is the line drawn, would it have to be a tank or would an ifv work? I've got ideas of a group of knights dismounting a Bradley, possibly modified with spikes for close support or something, working ideas and all. Take care and try not to work too hard, even if I know you'll ignore the advice,I understand all too well the struggle of not being able to retire

Urchin

nice can not wait to see the new video. also can not wait to see the Traveller video next on your chopping block.

All Ones

No voice needed: Keep up the great work and thank you and the team. A friend once said to look at the great houses struggle as more of a sports league. A system moves here are there, cool new flag, your thoughts?

Jack Shepherd

Congrats on 40! You're "Over the hill" as my second grade teacher said once. I have two music related questions: Have you listened to anything from John Mackey? He's a composer who is still alive, but his work is wonderful in my opinion. Asphalt Cocktail is like watching Loony Tunes with your ears. Have you also ever listened to anything by Colter Wall? He's a newer voice in the folk scene but he has a old voice. I recommend "Living on the Sand" as a first listen.

Ready for this, Tex. I keep refreshing my YouTube to see if anything has dropped. I know it’ll be soon. Happy belated birthday to you as well, brother. Welcome to the 4 and 0 club which also coincides with the number that handgun calibers should start at with the exception exception of it starts with the number 3 and has “magnum” in the name. If possible try and treat yourself to some sleep and maybe a little time off before you move onto the next one. Full auto dumps on copious quantities of tannerite might help.

MrToBeNamedLater

Good evening Mr. Tex. Hope last week treated you better than it treated me. Count me among those that were feeling beat to shit and despondent. Thanks for the pep talk, it made me look at a few projects that had languished in 'I'll get to it later' for a few months. They aren't finished, but they got some advancement for the first the in forever. Don't know when your birthday is. But I hope you have a happy birthday. Stay safe, and have a good week.

Santo

Tex, you and the whole BPL are awesome. That is all

BMang

I just got to the “children of kerensky” battletech novel and the reference to van zandt made me smile.

Kinoons

Hey Tex, -edit, well shit, forgot had to do shift+enter- Wishing you all the best regarding your birthday. I hope it is a wonderful time with those closest to you. I have had a life so far, where I dropped 6 years of IT academics to go into the hotel business which took another 9 years to complete to my current level. The concept of 'lost time' is something I am so far in the red that I have come to relax significantly on most time related items. Barring being on time to clock in. Gotta keep up that etiquette. One of my grandpas who passed away 13 years ago used to love his sailing yacht. Nothing too massive, was 30-odd footer? We'd go on trips to Scissile, a man of great wisdom so figured where else to share his memory than here? "Brace through the storms to enjoy the calm." Was something he'd say during hard times. So to you, the BPL, Auxillary and the lovelies here. I hope these words help you much as they did me. Another was the time of just having the sea and some music. A radio just in case of emergencies but thankfully never used. Time doesn't go as fast as people think it does. Just the daily grind fucks ones perception of it. The speed of information and how fast it comes and goes is why I don't answer work calls unless I'm about to go on shift. Same with emails. I work at work, at home I do not, though exceptions exist. Take care all.

Thanks for update, and definitely will share with who I can. On an unrelated note, I am running a RPG set in the Rimworld Universe, but I am finding I am fighting the D&D system more than it is helping me. I am looking for a new system to learn that is more conducive to varying tech levels, not everything cool being magic, and STL (slower than light) is the only way to travel the stars. As you seem to take the stance of "Learn as many systems as possible godamnit", I want to know what system you would think would work best for this. My world is mainly sitting at victorian era earth, so highest tech is steam, but lowest is still neolithic, and there are 2 cities that are spacer tech levels. Ammo and weapons should mean something, as well as having the chance of limbs blowing off. Base building is desireable, but not mandatory. I asked the robot because I don't know who else to ask, and it came up with GURPS or Traveler, but I don't know enough about either system to make a call, and i am not deep enough into the internet to get past normie net, so I cannot ask someone that has used both easily. Also, if you think this would be acceptable to host, through the Aux, I would be happy to know where I should post to make it a thing once I read some rules on whichever system.

Hi Tex, congrats on joining the 40s club, I suppose. Been 42 for a while myself and.. well, no answers to much of anything more than before, so definitely felt a bit cheated there. You weren't wrong about time seemingly having disappeared - yesterday we were notified a colleague at another department had passed away and I realized he had already worked there when I joined our employer... 18 years ago. (Which in itself is a horrifying number) He had been one of those guys that you could count on being around, and willing and able to help you out, or at least point you in the right direction if you ran into trouble.. and now suddenly he won't be, and not because he retired. He'll be sorely missed. You're right - life's too short... and lacking leaving a legacy in the form of kids, I figure the best I can do is help people, even if mostly at work, and maybe help you guys out, enabling you to make fun stuff, which I know you do well. Looking forward to what you've come up with, but from the sneak peeks you've given us, it looks very promising. You take care, and (we'll keep saying it) don't overwork yourself. Hope the premiere goes well.

Happy birthday! Two questions this week: 1) has anyone tracked down the voice actress from Mechwarrior 2? Does she realise she’s still an icon (I’m assuming it wasn’t synthesised). 2) YouTube is a pain in the tits - can’t navigate away on mobile, annoying ads. The most free time I have is working in the yard or driving and it's a massive hassle to avoid bumping the phone, and not having a way to download. Have you considered putting the TTBT on Spotify? It seems you can also include video, but while I know the video is awesome, even without it it would be great on long drives or when working. Can’t wait for the next vid! Keep on trucking.

DarkSideoftheBaboon

The other FASA properties have all come up on older episodes of the podcast. Renegade Legion got glazed over though; most of the focus was on lamenting the loss of Crimson Skies.

Vendrette, The Postalmech

Congratulations on making it 40 laps around the burning ball of plasma. Hope you had at least a calm day with a drink of your choice.

swiftdraw

I have a philosophical question for you: Is Mister Train not moving freight?

Adam Stadnick

Thanks to the team as always. Excited to see the goods, but no rush. I got to see Eldonius, Striker, and Tuck D at GenCon, top notch gents! I managed to kill my character under a train in Cyberpunk Red with 3 failed consecutive rolls trying to jump from one train to another (GM said I was the only person with that achievement this year). Played some BT (Steiner Archer), no kills, but also didn't die: 0 K/D 😂

keep the faith and dont give up the ship

Happy birthday, Tex. Ever since a beloved cousin who was just one day younger than me was killed in a completely random and senseless accident a few decades ago, I've refused to complain about getting older. I'm turning 53 later this month and while yeah, my knees hurt and my back hurts and "feeling good" is an increasingly lower bar, I refuse to complain about the downsides of experencing stages of life that my cousin - and so many other of my contemporaries - never did. Getting old may not be much fun in many ways, but it tends to beat the alternative. Also, if you drop the new film on August 19 then you don't need to get me anything else for my birthday.

John M

Feel free to save your voice, but just a couple thoughts on the work discussion - my day job is a software engineer, but I currently side hustle for a couple of gig services delivering food or people in my car (because kids are expensive, and credit card debt sucks). While software pays better, I find that I derive more satisfaction from the immediate, tangible results of seeing people happily delivered to their homes or destinations, rather than fixing some formatting bug in a report that a Project Manager decided was urgent for reasons known only to him and his lack of planning.

Team CasterClan

The Train Man is an Eldritch Curse, or a normal workman. Howdy Tex, save your voice if you need to, take a pat on the back, the worn out feeling is never fun, but pushing through for others is always a good motivator, thanks or no thanks, so thank you. I can agree with the "Lost Time" thing, from early covid to now, everything just sped up, I'm hoping it'll slow down again. No Plans on Giving up, not now, not for a long time. I saw the Striker Pics, Man was out there havin a Grand Ol Time. Hell Yeah Catalyst Crew with the Black Pants! I May go next time, don't know yet. All for the Shitposts. Praise Be Z0RG Consume Traveler. We have fun in the Aux, Nephi and the "Workshop" crew [including myself] partook in a monthly project, that being cleaning up our work stations. Not sure what this month will be but it'll be great! PRAISE TWYCROSS! A Trailer? Nice. I'll spread the news. Arcanum is VERY fun, deranged, and fun. On That Day, we are All Film Producers. Also Yeah Morale Patch Makers are Great for doing custom work. Also, I have painted a Taurian Liberation Front Flashman and a Clan Hell's Horses Delta Galaxy Kingfisher, as well as more Knights. I also generated a Hogfish Bay Facsimilia, you'll find em in the Writing and Worldbuilding channels over in the AUX. Keep on Keepin On, sorry for this being so long.

Grimos

I'm looking forward to the film if for no other reason than to see how Prof. Tex handles the blatant, 400mm of sloped, reinforced plot armor that clads Kai Allard-Liao and Phelan Kell-Wolf-Ward-Kell. I anticipate much confused gnashing of teeth.

Treize

Hey Tex ! Feel free to go into voice save mode. Please accept a virtual pat on your and the collective shoulder of the BPL as a token of appreciation for the sheer entertainment value. I don't recall you ever mentioning the other big FASA SF property, Renegade Legion, any thoughts on that one ?

Nonkel Bob

As the saying goes, it's not the years, but the mileage, and you've certainly traveled more roads than most. I hold out hope that you'll get to rest and feel less tired some day. Nostalgia is a double-edged sword; sometimes it's a bittersweet dream of memories, other times... it's a nightmare of losses. My birthday is also this month and I'm throwing a party this time. You're invited, of course. We're having waffles. So glad the GenCon shitposts brought you some joy! Take care and have a great week- looking forward to the Twycross movie.

Ginger_Bitters

Save your voice: My favorite cheeseburger place closed down a few months ago without warning, and now I can't miss the cheeseburger I would be losing had I not subscribed. There's another location of it across town, but I drive enough in my day job; I don't want to drive at all when I'm off shift if I can avoid it. I'm saddened by its loss... they made Black & White milkshakes just right. Anyway, thank you for having a way that I can support your work. I look forward to Twycross. Thank you, again. Additional save your voice: Hap Birf! Now for my question: What is your personal favorite Battletech era?

Vendrette, The Postalmech

Happy Birthday, Tex. Im also on the doorstep of 40. People tell me im still young but I definitely don't feel it. Its the Km on the chassis not the year right? I constantly think about the fact that I have 30 more years of work before retirement. I hope you get some much-needed rest.

Matthew H

In Minecraft, right? Shrek in minecraft.... no donkey, just Shrek.

Walt_Man

I am saddened to hear that militaries of the future are still using indiscriminate area denial weapons. Think of the poor space children, happily playing space soccer, until one faithful day, the space ball bounces into no man's space, and Boom! "Little Jimmy used to love playing soccer with his friends, until a mine blew off his face. Now he can't play soccer without his friends laughing at him and calling him 'Jimmy No-Face'. With your help and generosity, three cents on the dollar of your tax-deductable donation will go towards paying a group of mercenaries to beat up Jimmy's friends."

Dudeosaurus Rex

So, you're saying I should watch the next long video with my THX headset🥰

Sons of Lorgar

p r e s e r v e v o i c e Hey Tex! Excitement grows. I bought an anode off of Battleship New Jersey, any ideas for what to do with it other than a desk ornament?

ketch me outside

Happy 40th Tex. As a middle aged guy myself, welcome to the club.

Road-Kill21

As before I stand ready for Twycross stay safe and see on the other side Wander my friends, wander with me Like the mist on the green mountain, moving eternally Despite our weariness We'll follow the road Over hill and valleys To the end of the journey

russell marsh

If you sound tired...it's because you're Tex Yeah, and this is why we wanna help fund your 401K, Tex. I know you'll say no to that, but you can't expect us to hear your pain and not respond to it. Here, let me say THANKS. For all you do. And for all the ones who didn't.

Jay McIntyre

Thanks for another great update, can't wait to see Twycross, with any luck it will drop during the part of next week I have off. Glad to hear you are in high spirits despite the exhaustion I hear in your voice. A side note: have you ever played a game called Choo Choo Charles? It may not be your normal fare but i think you would appreciate the ending. Alternatively there is that one starcraft 2 mission where you blow up trains. Either way, take it easy, and take care

Elipses...

So happy for more Traveller! My daughter and I have loved your RPG recordings since Star Track; she thinks you’re hilarious and it inspires her Mörk Borg shenanigans.
