you can go back and edit. it's saved me more than once.

Hiya Tex, hope this still gets in... Also, save voice. Just saw part 12 of the Xenonauts game and I cackled when I saw my character die. 10/10 Thanks for making us die gloriously. Unrelated, me and a bunch of online friends met up in (this location redacted too) last weekend, some of us having known each other for close to 8 years online, including the guy who makes Youtube videos whom we initially gathered around, and while I may need a week of solitary recovery behind my computer, it was still pretty damn amazing. It reminded me of our own miniature version of how the BPL meets up, despite some maybe having some anxieties about such things, which also helped convince me I should go. I'd hate to have missed out on that, so... Thank you and the rest of the BPL, here and on the podcast, for sharing your experiences. I might've hesitated (even) more without that. Hope you're doing alright - take care.

Goddammit did it again. Anyways definitely worth the look. Third point: have an idea for overcoming the con problem others pointed out re: way too much public exposure. We make a vtuber model of checkers as an intermediary to preserve personal privacy. Maybe a cute little anime robot girl. I hear there's at least one artist who has made such a thing. No, I'm not being entirely serious. But also no, I'm not entirely joking either. Final thought: bplcon2024 was well worth getting bplcrud2024. Was a pleasure to meet the bizarre collection of found family. A heartfelt thanks to you and the team that founded this madness for setting the basis for a community like this to form, because what has grown from that foundation has taken on a life of its own in a very positive way. Best wishes to the team, hail cargonia, and remember: when in doubt, lobotomy, dung juices and anal cauterization cure all ailments.

Also apparently posting by phone doesn't let me shift enter to space out paragraphs. The more you know. Second thought: pathfinder 2e. I'd say it is to pathfinder what dnd 5e is to 3.5. There's a lot of cool shit in the mechanics that I like (the 3 action system is very streamlined in a good way for example), the way they work the weapons to operate on a universal keyword system rather than having to explain every rules quirk in the weapon itself, shields are now a more active defense rather than just passive AC...there's some cool stuff. But I'm not a fan of the system for games I run because it has some of the same assumptions that 5e has regarding encounters and balance. Namely the baseline understanding that the players should generally expect to enter an encounter with full HP and most resources available. Between mundane means of healing that have few limits on their usage to the way magic weapons are now hotswappable "runes" like slotting gems in a Diablo style game...rules as written doesn't let me run games with logistical factors for the party without some extensive tinkering.

Iden DeSeer

Run Voicesaver.exe So I have it on good sources that I make a nice little Japanese lady. And also that I don't survive well. 10/10 would die for mankind again. Looking forward to watching the xenonauts series, waiting to finish my first blind run of the game I recently started to do so.

Actually is Star Track BPL canon enough, for a photon torpedo rocket launcher, throwable boulder, and portable possumiser first aid kit?

Guy that got suplexed by an Atlas and only mostly died

Ohh that's not a bad idea! They can also have a version that sort of replicates the alien blaster from the original xcom. Basically it's the office chair you've suggested above but with a "discount nuke" strapped on, that will follow a way pointed path and then self destruct (with a percentage chance that it won't detonate until after a random number of turns have passed for Discount Dan reasons). Now that I'm thinking about it, an "emergency Christmas dinner with all the fixings" launcher could be fun too. Basically it'll work like like an incendiary mortar, by launching a turkey rigged with thermite onto a location. Although maybe we're straying too much into what could be a separate mod in it's own right. Van Zandt militia armoury mod? Could have a raw coffee beans consumable that when eaten gives a TU boost and reflexes boost on the following turn in exchange for lowered accuracy?

Guy that got suplexed by an Atlas and only mostly died

Do not read out loud. Had 95% blockage in a major artery in my heart. Two stents later and a warning that I was close to death is not a good time. For now I will listen to the Christmas dump on my porch in Van Zandt as another Smoked Jaquar burns up in the atmosphere.

Mike Carpenter

Hey, Tex! Since Xenonauts 2 lets you send robots into combat, maybe the Beeple Armory 2 could include some of Discount Dan's Pretty Good Robots? I'm thinking that the basic bot could just be a tommy gun strapped to a rolling office chair with various motors and batteries sautered to it so it can roll around and shoot stuff. The improved version would basically be the same thing, but with the addition of a manequin in a pinstripe suit sitting in the chair and holding the gun. What are some other robots that our favorite legitimate businessman could send to save the world?

Rick Jenkins

Hey Tex, Fairly new here, but I believe telling you to save the voice is customary, but it being customary makes me think it may be ignored, so I'm going to tell you to abuse the voice and hope you decide to save it, just to spite the new guy! I've never really been into the table top game, but love the models, designs, story, and lore of Battletech. So a huge thank you for bringing all of that alive in a well explained and entertaining manner. I also stumbled on to "Star Track", which got me through my last few night shifts. Although your role play was upstaged by Boulder who absolutely rocked the character of Boulder, I absolutely loved that series! Huge props to Mike for excellent DM'ing and teleporting, and the other guys there too. I'm just wondering since I'm getting deeper and deeper into the BPL rabbit hole, have you ever considered doing a video just to round up and expand on fictional lore of characters and creations like "Professor Tex", and Van Zandt?

Guy that got suplexed by an Atlas and only mostly died

Hey Tex, I am finally able to join the patreon as I am now financially stable enough to throw some money in your tip jar. I love your content and have been a fan for a number of years. Thank you for reigniting my love for battletech and I can't wait to watch the next meth for kids. Keep up the amazing work and keep being awesome, just like your favorite mech.

rick myers

Heya Tex, just saying hi, thanks for the content

Yellow

He should pull a Lemon Demon and wear a mask of his own face.

Vendrette, The Postalmech

Hmm... a BPL Thanksgiving slash Battletech con in 2025? That could be a nice event? And yes Mr.Tex, correct bbq does not need any sauce. However, good sirs. What about spices? I like to use simple salt, pepper, cumin.* * I know a girl who was super allergic to Paprika.

Walt_Man

Cursed Charger, you say? I give you Captain Missiletits: 5/8/5, TSM, hatchet and 8 SRM4s - 3 in each side torso and two in the off hand from the hatchet, just in case someone sneaks up on you. Just enough heatinks that a full jump and an alpha strike leaves you at 9 heat. Plus a ton of infernos just for fun. And no CASE, because CASE is for the weak. Only 1600 BV! What I've discovered before is that someone has probably already done this :( But the idea brings me joy, and I'll give him a try in my next Solaris match.

DarkSideoftheBaboon

Save your voice, please. Just wanted to say that the opening tune to the Xenonauts playthrough is catchy beyond measure and has been stuck in my head for days now. Not sure whether to thank you or curse you for that. It did prompt me to give Xenonauts a try, so I guess that's a net positive.

Rawinteli

I think next year for the Christmas Dump Professor Tex should read that famous Christmas poem “A Child’s Christmas on Van Zandt” by Dylan Thomas

Jellicoe Cats

SAVE VOICE hay Ya ever gunn paly Game DEV simulator again WE all need Laser Tits III. also ever interested in doing a play through of Panzer Gen ? cant' Wait for Meth for kids or what you have to call it now for YouTube sake

Frosty

Howdy Tex, please save your voice. I really appreciated your recommendation from my last question and it made sense to me and very practical which is what I needed. Loving watching the Xenonauts and the Warno video with dep! Old school question, did you ever play any of the General series, Panzer General, Allied General, People’s General etc and if you had thoughts on them. My first version was on floppy disc to date me but still play the original and Allied on PS1, also a fun time though not as fluid as the ones you stream. Thank you

Ravoner

As an aside 4e D&D is fun as a board game like HeroQuest. But as an RPG where people live in, not so much.

SouthPawBirk

Good day Tex, I hope you're having a good day. Please save your voice. I've recently watched your newest TTB and I must say it was worth every cent and second. Keep up the fantastic work! I've also been watching your Xenonauts playthrough and I wish to volunteer for the meat grinder that is Fireteam Whiskey unless it is too late. No real questions today, though I was wondering if you'd ever dive back into aviation history at some point or recommended some weird and wacky thing that not a lot of people talk about that I could look up or find books on. Osprey publishing seems to have a lot of books on various experimental planes like the Bell X-1 though. Anyways, don't work yourself too hard and God bless!

TnTEngineer

The short: Pathfinder 2e is like D&D 4e but good.

SouthPawBirk

So Tex, if the BPL does a public con, given your preference for keeping yourself private, and keeping your face non-public, what mask are you going to wear? May I suggest one (or a combination) of the following: - Hunchback head mock-up - Luchadore mask (forgive incorrect spelling) - Hunchback head with luchador mask - Spaceman helmet - Clown face (just a callback to SS13 - I've probably got the reference wrong)

Adrian

Hi Tex, please feel free to save the voice. I'm really enjoying the Xenonauts playthrough, you've inspired me to re-install X-Com and Xenonauts, and pretend like I'll have time to play through one of them. Which I probably won't, because my sons finally got me to start playing tabletop Battletech with them. Now I find myself on the other side of the learning curve, but that's okay. They're enjoying getting Dad to play with them and teaching me something, I'm not so secretly enjoying that my teenage sons still want to have anything to do with me, and occasional lucky successful turns with a Hunchback, Charger, Executioner, or UrbanMech will probably never stop being hilarious.

Team CasterClan

Hey Tex, I love a good small [enter name]Con. I went to just one, it was for like a city of a few 100,000 population. They had strong showing of 5,000ish people in a three day event. It would be cool to do an AUX/BPL Con. I do apologize for the Discord DM, just had something to discuss that wasn't on here in more public. My kid just turned 16, and he has followed your stuff (and team) since he was 13/14 (I can't remember) and loves the BPL76/BPL Youtube content. He will probably join the AUX at 18 as per the rules. I will say he has been writing consistently for about a year now on a TTRPG he is hosting on my Discord. You and Gummi are a big influence to him. He knows you and her write and is energetic about being consistent. I thank you for the positivity on just being you. I know you are not an "influencer", but do know you have made a positive influence on my kid! Pistol!

Pistol6699

Hey there Tex. Save your voice as you please. Looking dearly forward to the Black Knight video (whenever that happens, I am VERY patient). I'm preparing to run a Battletech campaign for some fairly green friends set in the clan invasion and I'm not ashamed to admit I've sent many of your videos to the players as "required listening" for those who prefer videos over Sarna articles. In a way, the campaign is happening because the Twycross video especially was just that damn good, so my friends have you to thank for that. Stay fresh, cheesebag.

Bec

Haldo Tex, always enjoy listening to you! A question regarding color-blindness and accessibility, read silently at your leisure. I'm doing board game development at the hobby level right now, but the idea of bringing something to market someday sounds pretty awesome. If I do that, I want to have color-accessibility built into the design; which is admittedly a tricky riddle considering the different types of color-blindness out there. Do you have some thoughts to share on what helps make a game clear and easy to read (and even aesthetically pleasing!) from a color-blind perspective?

Hoplite

Good Afternoon Mr Tex! Merch idea, is a Christmas Bullet Toy with detachable wings feasible? Or a Dr. Christmas Action Figure with a safety factor of 7?

Costco Hotdog with Relish

Hey Tex, save your voice. Right, forgot I can't paragraph on mobile or it posts. Just wanted to wish you, the bpl and aux all a wonderful year, hope it has treated everyone well. I'm super excited to be going home on new year's and bringing my partner to Europe for the first time in their life. I wanted to ask, my grandmother is 98, originally from Germany and grew up seeing the rise and fall of the country in her youth. As a historian, or out of general curiosity, would you have anything you'd want me to ask her? She doesn't mind bringing up any topic, ranging how family tensions happened once a certain individual took leadership to the sad fate of a neighbour during a bombing run. Feel free to get in contact and I'll get back to you with them in January, assuming she's fine with the specifics. Until then, take care!

Derial

Good day Tex, save your voice and have a drink of something. So, the day of games went well. Everyone enjoyed each one. As for Pathfinder 2E it is still, interesting is certainly a word that can be used. It is better than 5e because it is Pathfinder. But makes me think of 4E when I play it. Magic is wack and even remastered still feels less than what any martial can do. So if people wanna play Pathfinder play 1E. Or Starfinder Playtest, that makes magic feel special.

Fireonfriendly

Any plans to update the website? It's still showing the hunchback has latest video

Eduardo Dias

Morning Mr Tex! Hope all is well, nothing really new to report...but with everything going on taking care of each other seems the best advice that can be given. Ill raise a coffee cup to you, stay well and stay safe

The Mailman

New supporter/listener here, started with the Battletech history episodes, then got hooked by the Ultimate Admiral, Xenonauts, and various tabletop episodes as background listening. Just finished listening to the Magistratum Mundanus series earlier today, and what a rollercoaster that was. Looking forward to more of their adventures, and more of the Traveller series as well. 🍿

Killian

To add on from last post: I'm interested in the future(TM) public BPL con. But I will be around for that eventually (EDIT) AI TEX?!?!? < want AI Tex to power my google maps

cgdeth

Happy Thanksgiving, Happy Christmas, Happy Holidays! I hope everyone enjoys themselves and treats each other with some respect and love. I WANT BPL Battletech Dice!!!

cgdeth

What do you think was the best Star Trek Pilot?

Kasperl Stormcrow

Hey Tex, thank you for answering my question last week and for the book recommendation. I found it on audible so I'll be able to listen to it at work when I am not listening to your insanity. Happy Holidays and enjoy your turkey. Looking forward to your next Arcanum play through. For some reason I can listen to that and still know everything going on without having to watch.

Luminaire

Do you have a place to go for Thanksgiving and Christmas? A place where you won't be alone. Are you doing okay? Do you need anything done or at work? Voice actors? a person to talk to? Does your future project need more money?

Fiaura The Tank Girl

What would Tex do with more downtime? Why, Battletech, Space Station 13/14, Xenonauts, etc etc etc. And maybe travel some. Me, I would just say "here's a new 401k, now let's see if we can't get you a BETTER job" Dune is....well...it's worth reading. Once.

Jay McIntyre

Good evening Mr. Tex. Please save your voice as required. Worry not for my Mosin, I baby that thing like you wouldn't believe. It's my second ever gun and I love it to death. I feed it only non-corrosive brass cased ammo. I worry about the inevitable time when the barrel wears out. I probably won't find another one as cheap as I found this one some fifteen years ago. When that time comes, I'll look for a gunsmith to get a new barrel made. It's not about the latest and greatest, it's just that it's near to my heart and I'm willing to put in the money for that. Even if fixing it will likely cost me several times its purchase price. I also would like to say, I'm kind of a doom and gloom person. Last week at work I had the unfortunate need to handle a supervisor who decided he had a problem with me, and who has the emotional maturity of a 14 year old. I say that not to bitch, I'm absolutely certain my experience is nothing special. But I will say my day was thoroughly shat on until later, where I randomly saw a person having trouble lifting something at the supermarket, and remembering something you said in the past, pushed myself to offer assistance. And after that, felt better. Kindness for the sake of kindness remains difficult, but you were right in that it can serve as a salve. Thank you for that lesson, at some point in the last thirty plus years, I'd forgotten it. Have a wonderful day. And stay safe out there. Edit: your commentary during the Xenonauts playthrough reminded me, I'm actually thinking of assembling me an AR pattern rifle. It being the Legos of the gun world, at least in the US, it seemed like a good decision for my first ever attempt at putting together a gun. Is there a website you'd recommend for purchasing parts or kits for the AR pattern rifle? I've looked online, but the sheer quantity of hits on a Google search combined with my inexperience are giving me a bit of decision anxiety.

Santo

Cannot wait for the Meth for Kids run this year, it is always an extremely fun watch.

Maehock

I remember 'Virtual World', my complaint was at the time the pedals were hinged against the front wall instead of the floor and kept getting caught on the soles of my shoes because I grew-up rural and country-folk need traction.
