Merry Zorgmas!

Walt_Man

Howdy Tex, I unintentionally created an Awesome Charger. Take an 80 ton mech and equip it with a 400XL engine and an endo steel frame . Then add six double heat sinks, three snub nose PPCs, and a targeting computer. Cost: if you have to ask, you can’t afford it. Have fun and take care of yourself. PS. Has Goat ever recorded a cover of Lawyers, Guns and Money? It is a favorite of mine.

BOULDER!

Iso

Wait you guys are running star trek again?

All Ones

Whelp, this coming Saturday, December 7th, is the Noble Knight Urbie Derby. I'm rocking a UM-R90 Suburbanmech, any brief thoughts on that variant? It's the one that swaps the AC10 for a PPC and adds two medium lasers plus a smidgen more speed.

Kasperl Stormcrow

I’ve seen that before, great clip by Bruins. Wish he would’ve had a chance to finish but that’s ok. Solid choice with the Mass Effect 3 “Leaving Earth” soundtrack.

MrToBeNamedLater

Greetings Mr Tex. Haven't been a member too long, and as a fellow autist I find it a bit disconcerting to chat to folks at the best of times, so here goes. With regards to merch, I think some nice, frameable art prints of some of the art from Tex Talks Battletech would be nice, and would have the bonus of already existing so wouldn't take up too much extra time. With regards to BPLCon... it would seem that we may have enough folks in the community with enough EXP in running these things that we could have BPLAux cons in many places as smaller venues. This would obviously mirror the way the Aux is part of but somewhat separate from the BPL now. Love the content and I really appreciate the effort your team puts into everything. PS Sometimes it might be fun in those twilight hours when the content feels a bit heavy, to think about what a 5 minute script would look like. What are the absolute essentials that are needed to be a great film, if you only get 5 minutes of the subject? Warmest regards.

Greybeard86

Good day Tex! Please save your voice. So any chance mister train and mister lawnmower could have a meeting? I’m sure it would be a smashing good time! I actually still have the 1st edition Battletech box set and also the Wolf Dragoons and Grey Death supplemental books and so many of the tech books of mechs and vehicles! Though art work, as you have shown, is very hit and miss back then Natasha as the black widow cover was one of the best they did. Do you remember I believe it was TCI model kits that came with two scaled for the game model kits with fully moving joints and scenarios? I remember owning a lot of them as they were so amazing compared to the lead figures. My other observation of why Battletech rivals something like Warhammer, which I also played and had 3 armies including Black Templar’s and Inquisition, but nothing I have is usable with the new rules, yet I got the latest edition of Battletech box set and rules and apart from new weapons the box rule books are almost exactly the same. They created a great game and only had to add some weapons and mechs as they expanded the history but the rules needed almost no updates as they got it right first time and didn’t screw it up and out price it for people to get back in it. May you and all of your team be healthy and safe this glorious Christmas dump season!

G’day Tex, you’ve said in the past that automatic shotguns were neat, but never really had a functional niche in combat. Looking at the rise of autonomous drones where electronic countermeasures may be of limited use, is that a case for an auto shotgun? Mounting one with a tracking system on a quadruped robot coudl

DarkSideoftheBaboon

Hearing you reading these is awesome. How can we send you these messages?

LOGAFETT

Ahh, now you see it's because I watched those, I kind of want to see... Well hear Tex's take on the game itself as it covers those events. Did they get it right? Did they get it wrong, did it affect certain decisions, knowing what he knows, that kind of thing. I think his take on the mechs, the gameplay, the available builds, and how they actually perform would be interesting too, as I predict he's reaction to say a Nova filled with small lasers, is going to be... notable.

Iso

There is! Tex Talks Battletech Episode 10 parts 1 and 2, and the latest Episode 18.

Chris Nunez

More of a question for everyone except Tex so he can save his voice... But has there been a Tex video relating to MW5 clans? I've looked (well listened) and caught a few snippets where he's mentioned playing it, but not been able to find anything else. I've searched but come up dry. Either it just doesn't exist or I've missed it. If I've missed it, would someone mind pointing me in the right direction?

Iso

Hi, just want to say. I’ve tried out the Hunchback in two battles recently. I’m feeling the call of Hunchback orthodoxy. While I’m more of a Centurion/Nova pilot for medium mechs (the Citytech 2nd edition was my first introduction to Battletech), I can’t put down the AC-20 boom box.

James or 01010001

Oh wow now that I think about it, yeah you could have easily have swapped the nationalities, for clans in that film! Hunchy in melee with anything though... I mean doesn't matter what it's fighting it's going to be 100% this: https://youtu.be/luIKMpl1lfk?si=_f_VU5EjMePbccSw (it's a great little short BTW well worth a watch the whole way through)

Iso

ahhh Tex Save Voice . Your neighbor sound's like he need's a routine or a job. Thank you for all ya guys do, Any chance of finding more of the old stuff ya lost? Looking for the plastic army man game ya played on one of your past broadcasts was that on steam ?

Frosty

Hope the holiday was at very least productive. So I was listening to podcast backlog and someone asked about recasting a movie with all Muppets, except for a single actual person. I was thinking a good adaptation of World War Z. Let Max Brooks be the person and everyone else interviewed a Muppet. Wishing you and the team well as always

The Mailman

Hi Tex! Gun/tech nerd question: How would you go about replicating and improving the Kalthoff flintlock repeater rifle without straying into percussion cap tech levels?

Sons of Lorgar

Hello, Hope your turkey day was good! I solemnly volunteer to be used as a tool for defending earth in your play through of Xenonaughts!!! lol! Loving the vids so far! Glad to hear you are in therapy, getting things done is always good. Pistol6699!

Pistol6699

G’Day Tex. Since you Yanks (or Seppos as some people in Australia may refer to Americans as, no offence meant and apologies to anyone I have offended. I accept that my actions might have caused this) have a holiday for thanks to be given, I thank you of being one of the two sources of information I have about firearms. I really know Jack and Shit since they are not really as pervasive Down Under do it is nice to get some education. I have only ever handled 3 guns in my entire life, a shotgun (grow up in a risk town, that’s gonna happen) a police revolver (yeah, an actual revolver when we went in a trip to a police station for school) and a Steyr assault rifle (research indicates it was probably a StG-58, but again, Jack and Shit) The other is Gun Gale Online, which is a series written by a Japanese gun enthusiast, and in the light novels he REALLY gets into the specifics of every gun. Speaking of desks, my mother was a primary (elementary in the US I think) school teacher and she gave me one of the desks her school was getting rid of in the late 90’s. I have had the same desk since so it has clocked 25 years in my hands, but I understand it was 20 years of so a veteran at her school. I suspect I will have this desk until I die. CRAFTSMANSHIP! Thank you for attending my TED talk. So, thanks for all the hard work, thanks for the education, thanks for the entrainment you provide and thanks for just being Tex. Keep on keeping on.

Hello Tex, Happy holidays, hopefully things are going not bad. I wanted to say thank you for re-uploading as many of your old adventures on YouTube, Snow runner, and especially Far Cry 5 with a Cop have been the backdrop to many a paint night this past year. Thanks to your call to challenging yourself, I've been learning to paint mechs and terrorizing my local BT group with Axis and Allies quality minis. I was wondering if the BPL and Aux have any more head to head games planned in the near future. Carrier Command was fantastic, and if love to see what a War Game Red Dragon, or Civ V would degenerate into. Would also love to see more MST3K style videos a la the Far Cry gun training videos. Thanks for everything you and the guys do, it's appreciated immensely. If you have the chance to talk to Mr. Nick, let him miss his Midfield podcast. I understand life gets in the way, but his almost sober commentary on the races was very enjoyable.

Matt Maser

Happy Holidays everyone ! Tex, you're invited to save your voice. I'm thankful that I have an amazing club full of opportunities for gaming, for being able to run a D&D campaign there that began in 3.5 and kept going through Pathfinder and into 5E. I am thankful that I finally found the loose heads of the Redoubt American Civil War miniatures I had sold to a friend and made sure he got them. I'm thankful for being able to get the new Midgard ruleset and the new Dungeon Master's Guide. I'm thankful for the RPG group on Saturdays where I can play Battletech with a group of very enthusiastic people. The players are currently running a gladiator game on Solaris for a pro-Kurita stable against a pro-Davion stable in the Boreal reach. So far it's been nailbiting. The aftermath will be interesting. Hint : It involves the ISF, their "Joy through incarceration" program, the place is called Turtle Bay, and it's 3049 ... I'm also very thankful to Tex and the gang for providing a measure of thoughtful madness to my life. I wish you get all the due moments of respite you deserve. Re Van Zandt TRO, that's a firm yay from me.

Nonkel Bob

Howdy Tex, I am thankful and appreciative for finding this community, and reviving my creative spark.

Grimos

Hey Tex, how does one enlist in the Van Zandt volunteer militia? I'm looking for some awesome sunglasses 🕶

The Fringe Knight

Audience: Hey, a new Tex thing! We're so lucky to live in a world with Tex and his content in it. He and his friends are so creative. Tex: I have, with much apprehension, moved my content by one day and I must supplicate lest the audience doesn't want to hear from me anymore.... Audience: Tex, rest, also thanks. So rest, also thanks.

Rusty Spoork

Save voice if you like Hey Tex, Recently discovered the BPL through a collaboration project you did with Sven van der plank. Still catching up on the podcast. (Made it to 2022 so far .. ep 90ish?) Gotta say I was annoyed with any podcasts I listened to till I found yours. Love the work you and the BPL do and I’m stoked to watch the streams at some point. I found I dodged a lot of mainstream stuff as a kid so I played Total Annihilation rather than star craft, Nox rather than Diablo, and while I did get into command and conquer I found a game called warzone 2100. Have you ever tried it? My biggest draw to it was the ability to potentially have the same “units/crews” from the beginning of the game all the way to the end essentially. Have you ever played Nox? If not I recently found it on gog and might go for a replay soon. Warzone 2100 is freeware at this point and I think you can still find it. Once again, thank you (all) for what you do and keep up the shenanigans!

Akaelik

Enjoyed Xenonauts but sad I didn't die for the cause - maybe I wasn't a subscriber when you made those but I was pretty sure I was. Anyway, it was still fun to watch you fight for humanity. No such thing as too many planes, I agree. While you're thankful for us, I'm thankful I walked in on David watching your TTBT videos one day during the Lockdown Times. What a strange few years it's been since then; your content has been a balm to the troubled soul. Proud of you for doing the real work of self care and going to therapy. Have the best Thanksgiving you can and enjoy that turkey, or whatever you shall consume.

Ginger_Bitters

Hello Tex. Save your voice. The way you described your neighbor and his lawnmower, and then actually hearing him drive it mid update - gave me an instant flashback. Search "Randy Quaid lawn mower" on youtube. A one minute video that proves your neighbor has based his personality on a movie from 1988. x'D It's a Richard Pryor movie - "Moving" and I do recommend watching it in your nonexistent free time. Hope the clip and possibly the movie gives you a chuckle.

Quinlist

In head, save voice. So I blame you and Sven Van Der Plank for this, but I’ve found myself bitten quite badly by the mech bug of late. To scratch that particular bug bite, I rewatched both “Pacific Rim” and the 1990 cult classic “Robot Jox”. I hope you’ve seen either or both. It still blows my mind that Gary Graham aka Vulcan Ambassador Soval was the lead in Robot Jox, but I digress. Thanks to TTBT, all I can manage in my minds eye when I rewatched both of them is that the hand to hand combat is about the closest approach approximation of what watching a HBK-4G, the CGR-1A1 or the Cudgel Solaris VII Charger sub-variant would have been like. Point. Blank. Armageddon. Plot-wise, neither is especially deep. “Robot Jox” in particular feels like it would be something that Nicholas Kerensky if not the Clans as a whole would’ve strongly approved of. They got their whole wishlist of single combat duels for territory and resources plus mechs commanded by genetically engineered pilots. “Robot Jox” also gets two bonus points. Bonus point #1 for giving us Old School Tex long before your Professor Tex. Musing aloud here if that was some inspiration for your character. Bonus point #2 for the Soviet-designed “Penis chainsaw” melee weapon on their mech. I wish to hell that was an exaggeration but it simply isn’t. That’s just how Russians solve inadequacy problems: crotch chainsaws the size of a house. It also feels like the kind of melee combat weapon Stefan Amaris would’ve gone nuts over. Your thoughts on either or both of these films from a mech combat standpoint?

MrToBeNamedLater

I'm thankful for the family and friends in my life. Also for finding a community that restores my faith in good people who just give a shit. So, for the younger guy whom I've told to rest his old ass when he needs to rest. No permission needed. If you need a price then provide the brand name of your preferred 'drink'.

Charles A. Inserra

Your neighbor's lawnmower brings all the boys to the yard? your MRE passed with less incident than my last bowl of grapenuts So the neighbor mows unnecessarily about as much as you work? Xenonauts? More like XenoNUTS! a year of new, says the fortune teller? Well that's a catch all open ended answer, ain't it? The chrome cobra commander helm was a suggestion for the BPL con if it happens Between work and therapy, how do you have time for anything???

Happy thanksgivingmas Tex!

Happy Chrimbus and a Merry Thunksgiving as well. Really don't have to ask us. Just do what you have to so you feel ok to do the thing. No question. Wouldn't know what to ask by this point. Just have a good rest of the day or week or whatever. Also GG on the Xenonauts run. Task Failed Successfully.

Mnemonicman

Happy tanks giving Tex and team, go ahead and save your voice. No worries on the moving of the update day. Clear communication is good, whatever time works is good, as long as communication happens even if it's, "Hey I'm delayed." Enjoy the time you have and spend it well. Till next time.
