I noticed I was missing as well, maybe some kind of Patreon goof?

Hey Tex, (Save voice if needed) Things happen and best wishes for the new job. It's good to be back supporting your team and I think I get your thing for Maine on Admiral Dreadnought, since I've considered it for potential retirement place in the future. Superb intro for Spain gameplay, my compliments to Maestro, and I had a good laugh for the comments on your 'ranting about Spain History'.

BK2207

As a long term player, hopefully you know to give your players the chance to resolve things peacefully ... but remember that criminals aren't above playing dirty. And sometimes, the worst criminal is a higher ranked cop.

Vendrette, The Postalmech

Im loving the Spain content but i noticed im missing from the credits. Just an idea but since youve helped people save their houses maybe you start a go fund me and we help save your house? Just a suggestion, i knowy you wont like the idea. Otherwise best wishes for you and the team.

Dear Mister Tex, Re-listening to Magistratum Mundanus, super excited for the book! I’m planning on running it as a first time GM (I’ve been a player for 18 years) for my friends(we’ve been gaming together since I was in second grade). Any tips or ideas for running a cop campaign come to mind?

Costco Hotdog with Relish

1) That about sums up what we all mean in our own words. You sir are a grand master in brevity! 2) so will your rookies but oh man it’s fun 😂 3) As a two-time cancer survivor, I approve! It’s totally bonkers how much the community raised. In a day no less!

Akaelik

Dear mister Tex, I was wondering what you thought of William Craig, and his book, Enemy at the Gates. Thank you for your time, and I hope things get better for you friendo.

I mean, I laughed when my Xenonauts character died horribly, so couldn't be worse than that... right..? As for cruisers, the term is almost more defined by its name than its class: to cruise. Their point is to be where bigger ships can't be, and bring the guns that lesser ships don't. Economically, most nations couldn't normally even keep BB, let alone station them globally, so then CA or gunships are your best bet. IMO, in UAD. if you go for the top end (maxed out tonnage, etc.) they do get rather expensive, and turn into small BB, especially early 1900s with the Armored Cruisers; but smaller CA should be competent killers of CL while not requiring the investments of BB and having a greater range. CL, meanwhile, should be much cheaper, able to patrol and protect, and make short work of DD and TB. Granted, this is a mess early 1900s, and the coastal defense ships muddy the waters even further. Also curious on Tex's opinion on it though.

Erdanya

Congrats on the new job Mr. Tex, may it be less soul crushing. My group has decided that we’re going to channel Police Squad and use Black Crusade to play Magistratum Mundanus on a Chaos world

Chris Stochaj

Look on the bright side. Sure your bad plumbing might mean you have to poop in a honey bucket but at least your sense of integrity kept you from being pooped on by Honey.

Jellicoe Cats

Ok next time ya react to Mr. Train like that Ya got to add Damm Trains{ hope ya get the ref } Also we must Boat Viva Espana . Good luck in the new job. OUTSTANDING as always .

Frosty

Tex, consider that if each of us only gets 0.01% of the benefit out of watching you that you feel you are getting, multiple that by the number of your audience and you're are giving back a few thousand percent more than you are getting. Also, I can't stop watching Van Zandt flow it was amazing!

Vocalize if you desire. Had a thought about Kung Fu movies and Knife Fight City. Some of the copyrights on the old Kung Fu films are probably up for grabs. Especially the really bad ones (as opposed to the ones Nef shows). It occured to me that you could probably take a bunch of them and edit them together to make a non-cogent but highly comical Kung Fu not to mention you can fully re-dub characters (à la the Ghost Stories anime) and have the film still be faithful to the genre. Honestly the original thought also included roping in multiple famous mad editors from youtube (e.g. Max0r, RussianBadger, Sseth) and splice their different sections together like an animation collaboration. However it could also be put together as a Knife Fight City movie, just set in ancient China. My plot brain says it would be an opportunity to set up for Knife Fight City proper with a secret society of knife fighters who are blindly dedicated to just knife fighting and who hate bows. Also congratulations on the new job!

Captain1nsaneo

True enough but it has two potential appeals. First, it's the right kind of weird to appeal to the comedy troupe that is the Black Pants Legion. Second, it would be easier, at least I think, to put a cap on what comes in through obscurity if they actually use a television broadcast.

I understand the sentiment behind the not wanting a gofundme and I completely understand. I just hope you also know people just want to help. Personally, I give to the patreon to support your content. To me, this includes taking care of yourself, your friends/colleagues, etc to make sure you can continue to provide such high quality and enjoyable content (...as well as a pipe dream of a Tex Talks Battletech about the KING of chad mechs, the King Crab and how every mech comes with a wet bar and/or stripper pole in the cockpit) . It's more difficult to do a good job when other things are going to the toilet. It's not meant as a "this money should strictly be used on content". The BPL team is part of the content. The content would not exist without the members and if one of any of you had something go wrong, like a house fire, or an illness, an accident, etc, that can drastically impact the content, I personally don't see a reason some amount of the patreon money can't be used to alleviate the problems. Again, I understand this is a slippery slope and I'm not going to convince you or even try to convince you to make a gofundme, but I'd much rather you take at least some of the money from patreon to help yourselves. Like sure, don't spend it on corn dogs at the next Solaris match or a Canopian catgirl (they come standard with every King Crab sold btw). But, in the end, I trust you to make the right decisions as, so far, I feel like they have all been the right ones. Sorry for the long post. Fuck Capellans and Smoke Jaguar did nothing wrong.

GoldElderDragon

I hope the job change and house issues get resolved quickly. As for BOAT VIDEO I had to laugh when you said naming ships after us on here would cause us to leave. The only thing that would offend me is if you designed a ship that would cause Jacky Fisher to die upon seeing it and DIDN'T name it after me. Take care, and hopefully this year will be the best one yet. Also, opinion on cruisers? From what I've seen in Ultimate Admiral Dreadnoughts they seem like the worst of both worlds between BB and DD.

Ethan Fisher

Good evening Mr. Tex. Don't make me pull a Tex on you Mr. Tex. I will start sending you bacon. I will send you so much bacon your veins will run with lard instead of blood. Do not test me on this. I will, I fooking will! What's that? I don't know where you live so how will I send bacon? Worry about it. Bacon finds a way. Consider yourself officially under the Sword of Lardocles. Good luck on the new job. A shit job is always a stressful time and I don't wish it on anyone who has a history of kindness. If you truly reach the point you need help, please, reach out. I'll say no more on the matter. Still super excited for Magistratum Mundanus. May the squeals of pigs past haunt your soul. Praise Z0rg and in his glory may you be warmed and your enemies turn to ash. Stay safe out there.

Santo

True PBS style!!! Maybe turn the funds not used into production funding? I imagine it might be a nightmare in relation to taxes though

Akaelik

hang in and keep the faith

Opie74

The Patreon/Aux: Tex, let us help you lay some pipe! Tex: ... I can lay my own pipe you damn weirdoes ...

Rieverre

The intro to the new Admiral video is top tier, I can't get bored with it. More is always welcome! Especially after you explained it's history in the video. I'm perfectly fine if you want to talk about history in your videos, it suits you. Good luck with the house and the new job!

Andy the Grunt

[Save Voice As Needed] In all seriousness, you could run a telethon to raise money for the plumbing. I'd be happy to contribute and if I understand correctly Goat and Mike are at least there often enough to benefit from that so it's not "just you" profiting.

Kasperl Stormcrow

Hey Tex, Feel free to save your voice. I hope you do get that better job that doesn't require you to burn up and be left a wreck. All the people I know who did got fuck all at the end. I'm willing to wait a while until the next video if it helps you get the pipes fixed and other issues sorted out, and if you must do something just a bit of random crazy will do nicely. If you feel we don't owe you anything, don't feel the same about us. Work on that film in your free time, when possible, give it that extra spit and polish and if we have to wait a little longer, so be it.

Nonkel Bob

If you won't take charity then you could do some merch to cover it and give any extra to charity?

Ryan Ulick

3.5", or 88mm, was a common medium cannon calibre used by the Imperial German Navy, all the way back in the late 19th century on pre-Dreadnought Battleships. Originally designed for light anti-ship uses (mostly against torpedo boats and the like) they started using those marks of cannon as anti-air weapons in WW1, including land mounts for the Army. The Flak 88, however, was originally a 75mm anti-air gun from Bofors, but when the Army looked it over, they wanted it bigger, so they rechambered it for 88.

Watchmaker

Now that you mention it… Mass production maybe?

Akaelik

Best of luck with the new job, mate. I very much hope for a bunch more stability, and ZERO 16 hour days. May the pipes be very much more simple and straightforward than not, with absolutely minimal fuckery. Pretty much may you have some calm and soothing times. You've weathered enough horrible storms, cap'n. Particularly in the last few years. Oh, and I'm still looking for those wall kickers.

Kai Harper

Question at end, save voice. Tex, that UAD intro was a fever dream in the best possible way! Good to hear you've got a new job coming, I cannot imagine the stress your previous one caused. The question: Why did the Germans land on 8.8cm for their guns? It seems a bit... arbitrary.

ketch me outside

Tex, please save voice. For the love of God man, please take care of yourself. The Black Knight video can wait until you and the team get stuff figured out. Please rest. Good luck on the new job. Seyla

Nerd_Power

Welcome back to the BPL house breakers! Special guest this week, (insert legionary with skill for this week's improvement).

dogsoneup

My folks had a similar thing… apparently it was cheaper to (sleeve? It) than it was to replace it. Kept them from tearing the yard apart too.

Akaelik

Oof!! I think I hear my wallet crying. I hope it lasts you for a good many years on that kind of hit to the wallet 🥴

Akaelik

The Eisenhorn series was good but I liked Ravoner more. I’m curious about the Bequin segment of the series but I had to stop for reasons. Maybe when my spirits are sufficiently boosted to weather the depressing atmosphere again.

Akaelik

Glad you’re doing well after surgery. I’ve had a time or two in the hospital, I hope it wasn’t too invasive. Best wishes Mike!

Akaelik

Tex, take a break from the movie and focus on fixing the pipes! But good luck on the new job, take it easy until you are used to it.

Mathieu Martineau

Yeah, that's about how much it was to do the water heater. It was mostly a "I'm already fucked, might as well make sure I don't have to replace that for another 25 years as well."

Face Into Keyboard

"Yeah the pipes are failing and I'm switching jobs, but anyway I'll keep making Black Knight." For the love of God, Tex, you can put the movie on hold! Take care of Tex! We'll be here! Saint, no. Self inflicted martyr? Definitely! Think of it as us helping you the same way you help your team. It's not taking if we want to help you. You're not cashing in. This is your own community giving back to you.

Jay McIntyre

Hey Tex, I just wanted to say thank you for introducing me to Space Station 14. I, like many, found you through “Tex Talks Battletech” but then noticed all the SS13/14 videos. When a bunch of friends picked it up, I decided it was time to get in. Now that I’m about to break 100hrs, I just wanted to say thanks for introducing me to the wonderful community and game and thank you for the Auxiliary. They’ve been great to play with and I look forward to many more rounds. Anyways keep on making great content man! Hopefully these issues you face now will pass soon. Oh- if you could add any one single feature to SS14, what would you add?

johnnyhotsauce1

(save voice or say out loud, you’re choice) Hey Tex, wish you the best in your new job! Your stance on where the money goes is admirable and I salute you for it. It’d be super easy, yet you stand firm. From the start of your podcast until now you have always held the same stance and not wavered. That’s entirely why I’ve dove head first into the BPL YouTube, the courtesy flush, and the BPL podcast. (no, not the Berkeley public library!) The content is brilliant, creative, and blessedly honest. It’s almost that cursed form of PBS you mentioned in your podcast 😂 I respect your stance, yet still wish I/we as a community, could help somehow. (Just seems like something you would do for others right?) Ohhh this is a horrible idea, but ever thought about a BPL DIY home renovation series? Could see a mix of home improvement meets this old house meets trailer boys…. Yeah definitely a horrible idea that I should delete. Speaking of horrible… Pipes are just a drain on your morale when things get ugly, especially like now when they flush your reserves of cash. I suppose you can look on the bright side though, at least they don’t suck! (That’s for the pumps to do!) Now that I’ve done my worst and said my piece. (Mostly) I know compliments are hard to take in, believe me, I’m right there with you. I freeze up in fight or flight every time. Yet I can’t help but say that I appreciate you and the BPL for creating a place that makes folks smile and laugh. A little island in the chaos if you will.

Akaelik

Good luck with the new job, hopefully the life balance with it is better than the old. Friends of mine has just gone through the same thing with their plumbing, had the house for 4 years, just this Fall discovered that the pipe connecting to the sewer was more of a suggestion than an actual pipe. In your case, you may have it fine, just don't drown when folks are wanting to throw a rope.

Maehock

Nothing grand to put in this week, just wanted to say great to hear you're getting a new job at last! Hopefully it's less of a drain.

Brooks

Save voice. Feeling better now. Still healing from surgery but I have a new job starting next month. Glad I was able to give last month. Appreciate all you and the team do

Mike Carpenter

Ouch and I thought $1900 to replace the water heater when it blew a hole in it casing was bad [emergency replacement) it did last 24 years

Slinkee

Here here! Heck I’m sure there is a few of us that’d happily help with hands and sweat too! (Just buy the beer and pizza so.. we can say it’s not free labor. It’s “friends” territory then 😂) ((For legal reasons, that was a joke!))

Akaelik

I really agree I have all his books most hardcover and not just his Warhammer ones. I just really got captivated by Ravoner and his agents. Thank you for catching that i really appreciated it!

Ravoner

I wondered if that’s where it came from. As far as 40k goes, it’s almost Dan Annette or doesn’t exist for me. Almost.

Akaelik

Good luck with the new job, hopefully it's a bit more stable for you. Let us know if there's anything we can help with. Apes together strong!

Zetam

Greetings Mr Tex! As always please save your voice for poetry. I appreciate you wanting to think on your favorite WW2 and as far as I’m concerned your raincheck has no expectation date. I also was very grateful you wanted to get my name pronounced right. The best way to describe it pronouncement is Raven as in the bird with the or on the end, though almost easier if you add a second n between the two. I understand your justified frustration with the changing Warhammer 40k lore but this name is from the one author I do like for his constant quality and that’s Dan Annett and Ravenor is a Inquisitor psyched that got so damaged he is in a seated coffin like chair he controls. That and my rooms and work space have something Raven in them, one of my Autistic fascinations, I agree with everyone, I thought your Russian Dreadnaught intro was amazing but damn it if you did not blow it out of the water (pun intended) with Spain! Listened to it several times! So just a couple more on the fun side questions. Do you by chance remember what your first lance of mechs where for Battletech Table top and did you choose a house? My other question is as you were on your road to becoming a History teacher what was your part of history that pulled you in the most? When I was going to start that mine was Viking society and how far they not only traveled but integrated in umm many ways all they came upon and their seaman ship. My second was Roman decline. I hope this new job is way more rewarding, no one can question your work standard or your character, will they can but they would be fools and liars so guess that’s the definition of Reddit? Be safe yourself! And hopes for a solution to your pipes and a good year for all of you at the legion!

Ravoner

Love the Spanish playthrough. Understand that we care. If everyone here and in the aux gave 20 bucks one time to you we could get you most of the way there. I know you won't let us but honestly. What are friends for? Just know we are here for you. Looking forward to black knight and more Conquistidor shenanigans!

Eric The Viking

Save Voice. Knowing your reluctance regarding gofundme, you may want to put some investigation time into your local, county, state, or even federal assistance programs that are designed to help homeowners bring their properties up to code. Many of these programs exist across the country and, while perhaps not affording the entire bill, can significantly reduce out of pocket costs. If the idea of government assistance makes you feel some sort of way, just remember it's your money, you're just borrowing some back. All the best in your many endeavors.

Greybeard86

Tex, Good Luck in both the Job Change [may it last a while and provide for you], and the plumbing situation resolve hopefully with less cost than expected. Current Writing projects are going well, Classes for Spring Semester begin the 22nd, I'm excited, and shall attempt to apply what I'm learning to other things I'm doing. Stay Cozy, give it to em with both barrels, and may the wind ever be at your back!

Grimos

Lagavulin is fantastic sir. You are Fantastic. I would say safe your voice but I know you won't. mucho lovo.

cgdeth

No question this week but now it seems that I have my own Mr. Train blasting his own horn, joy of joy's. My only worry is that the local drunks like to race it to the crossing. This can only end well.

russell marsh

Save voice! Crazy random: Got into a debate about warships and fighters due to a random reference of Battlestar Galactica. Anyway, it led me to design (legal per the rules) a ridiculous Battletech warship as a carrier with 500 ASF cubicles and 50 Small Craft slots for gunships, as well as docking for assault dropships. It had no capital weapons except some missiles launchers, the rest was truly obscene standard scale weapons as anti-fighter defense. How nasty would such a thing be, assuming it could actually launch all those fighters to attack an enemy? I'm not an expert on BT naval warfare and brain got tickled thinking about it. Also, because many a meme lately: How many B-52's you think Van Zandt still flies, and are they original or locally produced? :D

ilKhan DeVega

1) Tex. No matter what. We're here for you. Even if it's just emotional support. 2) Laser Thompson - Ayylmaos will run in fear 3) 43K raised! FUCK. CANCER.

Khan Jorgennson

Ah, a fellow Lagavulin enjoyer. Also, Hail Ardbeg! (if you know, you know)

Conjoiner

Not a question, just a commiseration: Hey, first cold day here in Virginia a few months back, I went downstairs to turn my heater on in my new place and it was dead. Cost me $20k in the end, required a complete HVAC system rebuild and new water heater as well as the gas lines for that ran through the furnace.
