So you mentioned running an OR using JITS (the Navy calls it Just In Time Supply, not logistics, that way you can make a handy acronym!). I'll see that and raise you running a Sterilization Department in a military hospital through COVID. All our PPE was on back order, half our stuff to test machines, meanwhile the officers just kept saying, 'Well we have to make it work.' Funny how they weren't the ones scrubbing used surgical instruments without the right gloves, or sometimes without a splash proof gown even... Anyways, that brought up a few angry memories. Have a good one Tex. If what they said when you were a kid was true, it seems like you ran out of quit a while back.. likely around the same time you ran out of fucks I'm guessing. P.S. Almost forgot a quote on this one, how about some good old Winston Churchill for your week. 'This is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honour and good sense. Never yield to force; never yield to the apparently overwhelming might of the enemy'.

2023-07-11 14:10:42 +0000 UTCJokes on you CGL, Prof Tex isnt in the timeline at all. He's a battletech cryptid and everyone who attends his lectures wake up in their cockpit confused and alarmed at the clarity of what they witnessed. Joking aside my guess remains somewhere in Fedcom civil war era just based on the subject matter discussed. Definitely after the Lyran succession based on mentioning the omni blackjack variant, and the fact that the FedSuns and Lyrans are spoken of as different nations rather than a unified whole. But also pre-jihad based on the nature of how Comstar is discussed. If I had to guess I'd say 3062 or somewhere very near to. Reject nihilism, embrace believing in me who believes in you, yours is the....uh...yeah i dont know where im going with this. But concur, belief matters and hope is a fundamental human condition. Going to the japanese machine gun I had to go back and check but it was the Type 11, and I've seen the game you're talking about. Laughed my ass off at a guy losing his shit about it when he was complimenting the use of the design....until they plucked the whole hopper off. I also want a doomguy shotgun...more to put on the mantle than anything. Kinda like you talking about Hellboy's revolver. Not for shooty shoot because wrist no like. Also, Grandpa Tex Xcom voice pack? Hell yes! Can't say I have any questions this time around, just well wishes as always. Life likes to hit below the belt but apes together strong my dude. You've got a good team and supporting group all wanting to see each other through the rough times. You guys all got this.

2023-07-11 11:27:36 +0000 UTCHey Tex, Hope you and the team had a both safe and enjoyable 4th of July. With any luck, you had a little time to rest and recover from what ails you.

2023-07-11 05:03:09 +0000 UTCHonestly these have become one of the bright spots of my week. They give me hope, they give me determination. They remind me I'm not alone. So random non related question. Are you familiar with the Forgotten Weapons What Would Stoner Do Project? I thought it was an interesting exercise and an interesting product that eventually came out of it. Do you have any thoughts on it? Thanks again for all you do Tex.

2023-07-10 23:41:48 +0000 UTCHello Tex please, as always, pass on the kudos to your team. I'm still a little behind on the podcasts but been enjoying all the content. I introduced my brother to your mod video as we both love to play xenonauts (we each take control of half the dudes all fun. I know in the past you were looking forward to xenonauts 2 is that still the case? more videos are popping up and curious you opinion? Also in prior playthroughs you talked about jagged alliance 2, are you following jagged alliance 3? thoughts/opinions? Anyways hope you are feeling better and keep swinging one punch at a time.

2023-07-10 03:09:42 +0000 UTCI changed up everything recently. Uprooted myself from a 12 years Townhouse. Took a job in a different City, working at a Hydro dam. I always knew that this was necessary, even though the town is not a City, imo. I can confirm long covid is very much terrible. My question for the team is... What would you guys do for a horror battletech film? And who would be the 'horror'human element? Thanks. Club Soda with lemon. ;)

2023-07-10 00:55:11 +0000 UTCReally glad to hear about your friend getting more help. I hope he gets a sweet cyber-prosthetic! (or the closest thing that's available in this era). And now for an uncharacteristic GUN question: I've been thinking lately that it's about time I buy a gun; I've never owned one and know very little about them other than "trigger make bullet go fast." Now I don't want anything crazy, just something reliable that won't jam at some... inconvenient time. I've read that revolvers are more or less jam-proof due to having fewer moving parts than other pistols. In your opinion, is there any truth to that, or is that just a weapon being mythologized, as so often happens with cool shit like revolvers and katanas? P.S. Your reading LEGO as L-E-G-O made me pause and think for a moment, and then laugh heartily when I realized what had happened. Not laughing at you, mind, but just at the way misinterpretations of text can cause whimsical fun on internet.

2023-07-07 05:17:54 +0000 UTCHey Tex. Here's hoping you've at least had an enjoyable Boom-Boom-Day. Keep taking care of yourself., And remember, if there's no boom today, there's boom tomorrow. There's always a boom tomorrow.

2023-07-06 16:25:03 +0000 UTCThe bit about museum ships reminded me that there's a museum for nautical hubris in Sweden built around a 17th century ship named Vasa, which had so much decorations that it wound up top-heavy and sank on its maiden voyage in a fairly normal breeze. The ship was raised from the bottom of the sea in 1961 and now exists in a purpose-built climate-controlled museum in Stockholm. Might be worth a visit if people are in the area to check out Viking longships. (The museum's website for the curious: https://www.vasamuseet.se/en )

2023-07-06 07:38:28 +0000 UTCYou've mentioned it a few times, so wanted to let you know I actually did just get a notification from Youtube for your latest text update. I see you've got some other TTH in the works. If you're doing another aircraft-related one and don't have anyone in the BPL with expertise, I'm an aeronautical engineer (currently specialising in unmanned) and can help if you need to. I think Stan Hiller - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stanley_Hiller would be an interesting topic, or a history of unmanned aircraft from pre-WWII through Israel to Gulf War II and the present.

2023-07-06 05:19:19 +0000 UTCOk, um, this is kind of a flex, but I've met Steve Jackson a few times and I have his email address, so Tex, if you want to go to THE SOURCE for information on this topic... well, I can't guarantee anything other than an introduction, but Uncle Steve is an absolute sweetheart and I think he'll respond to you.

2023-07-06 04:35:14 +0000 UTCIf the BPL had a fast food franchise in the battletech universe what would it be? Also any new TTRPG sessions on the way to the podcast? Loved StarTrek and Magistratum. Also I know a few Ned Flanders guys. Great friends, they both did some really fucked up shit in their past
2023-07-06 04:32:12 +0000 UTCA topic idea for your and Tex Talks History series. The Secret Service raid on Steve Jackson Games because they thought the game Cyberpunk game was real. https://www.dicebreaker.com/categories/roleplaying-game/feature/gurps-cyberpunk-rpg-us-secret-service

2023-07-05 22:31:42 +0000 UTCHey Tex-Wanted to see if you'd read any of Sir Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. I found them in my early 20's and they've been a source of great comfort and joy for me. I think you'd appreciate the Guards and the Witches groups most. Thanks!

2023-07-05 20:23:01 +0000 UTCIn a similar vein to John Paul Jones remember the guy admiral Farragut told to "Damn the torpedoes!” hit a torpedo.

2023-07-05 19:49:35 +0000 UTCPraise z0rg and pass the matches....I was told once by a therapist to make a list of all the things I accomplished in a month...I came back a bit later with a list that said "I went to work x days and didn't manage anything else" He looked at it and said "Great job...we sometimes forget the little things as wins." Also I worked for a company that some of the sales managers used to tell the sales crew shut from Sun Tzu...I just walked away. As always do your best and keep fighting

2023-07-05 18:46:22 +0000 UTCHoly crap, you got my name right (obv. not my real name, but this is the internet, pseudonyms are to be expected). Well, my first name; soft G in the surname (though your rendering with a hard g had a nice lilt). And Mr. Train proving my point made my goddamn day. I and mine eagerly await the next vidyas (even if they're just you or other Beeple Peeples Ogryn-ing your way through a game) and Mr. Tex's Poetry Shorts have been a delight. My wife loves re-watching the Urbie TTB as a pick-me-up (and dancing along with the UrbanPimp). Can't wait to see the Hunchback, but by every applicable god, wait we shall.

2023-07-05 17:59:42 +0000 UTCSucks about the AC. My house is a turn-of-the-century special, well the 20th century anyway, so I have no HVAC at all. My office gets to roughly the surface of the sun if the sun had an amazon rainforest from June until October, but nothing is perfect so I'm happy to have a place of my own to do dumb things in my old man games. Glad you're on the mend and looking forward to the things in the pipe. Best to you and the team.

2023-07-05 15:50:43 +0000 UTCHell yeah Tex! Massive shoutout to our wildland firefighers and support crew too. You're sounding better so that's a good sign I'd say! Best wishes as always - Fowler

2023-07-05 04:39:39 +0000 UTCSo is Washington giving the Redcoat a Stunner or an RKO in that art? Edit: It's a Stunner, just saw the beer can. "Black Pants Legion abides" *pwwwwwchhhh* Who you know indeed, that is in fact, how me and roomie got this place to live, after our old landlord died and his kids decided to sell. Were it not for who we know, Battletech and the BPL would not even be on my radar right now. Tex Talks Battletech: Making a fun of blealaealeal If Tex was a loser, the BPL would not exist. I said it before, I'll say it again. Your voice in the "choir" is Avi Kaplan. At first I misunderstood "sects" as "sex". Ha. I think it's safe to say that Prof Tex doesn't "live" in the IlClan WTF were they thinking era. there's a guy out there on teh tube of you who does "Reload animations" for everything. Toasters, pencil sharpeners, kid's toys, *everything* . Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Heinlein, also The Probability Broach by L Neil Smith. yes, I Robot, too.

2023-07-05 01:26:17 +0000 UTCMy guess on Professor Tex place in time line is,as he appears in the videos, is Fedom Civil war.

2023-07-05 01:16:06 +0000 UTC"Randolf's Roughriders." Sounds like an unofficial nickname for Tex's unit that some of the lads and lasses would deliberately cultivate just to annoy Tex because it's Van Zandt and there's precious little to keep folks occupied between bouts of armored murder... or at least that's been the case since Comstar found out you've been stealing cable and cut you off.

2023-07-04 23:44:32 +0000 UTCYou good sir are not a looser. Far from it. You have built a comunity from blood sweat and the swamp ass in black fucking pants that are too hot in summer and never warm in winter. As someone who very much relates to some of the things you have been though, I'm reminded of the seven samurai quote KAMBEI: I'm not a man with any special skill, but I've had plenty of experience in battles; losing battles, all of them. In short, that's all I am." Yet in contradiction to this he pulls 7 guys together to win. You sir have pulled a legion together, and it's only 40 bandits you have to fight. Side bit my GF's brain dose not make the happy iether but has found that plantains help put happy in brain. All in all much love from fellow stranger on internet
2023-07-04 23:10:42 +0000 UTCThanks for the help you and the other BPL guys gave me last week. If you guys ever need anything hit me up chummer.

2023-07-04 23:08:29 +0000 UTCI tried the ol' reliable 12 gauge on a train, didn't work. Currently looking into more powerful options. I will let you know if I find anything that will help you with Mr. Train. I enjoy revolvers myself. Have an older stainless 6.5" Taurus Tracker. It gets some attention when you pull the long shiny boy out even though it is just a Taurus. Currently looking for a .454 Casull snub nose, a little hard on the shooter but the muzzle flash/blast is impressive.
