2023-09-19 16:43:31 +0000 UTCG’Day Tex So, Mechwarrior 5: Clans has been announced. Thoughts? https://mw5clans.com/ MW2 was my introduction to Battletech and it owned! I actually purchased it on CD before I had a proper sound card, so experienced it through a pissant PC speaker, then got to go for another discovery once I had a proper SoundBlaster compatible card. I am excited to thrown down with Clan Mechs again. I am sure it will be very good and fair…

2023-09-16 15:42:32 +0000 UTCIf you have to make a choice between two projects i find its easier to start with the one your the most passionate about, passion shines and it shows. Personally however i would be most interested in Lake Erie and their numerous shenanigans.
2023-09-16 12:04:42 +0000 UTCThoughts on Mechwarrior 5: Clans? Here's hoping it isn't Epic beta tested for a year.

2023-09-16 05:22:45 +0000 UTCI LOVE the Black Knight my favorite Heavy mech. And yes for Urbie! and DOUBLE YES on Awesome remake! I am down with traveller and cold war history but learning about a war company Turn private seems cool too. Can't wait for the vehicle 101 as well. Take care and as always keep swinging! Thanks to you and your team.

2023-09-15 21:28:15 +0000 UTCI would love the Cold War history and the deep dive into Lake Erie
2023-09-15 18:18:17 +0000 UTCHey Tex thanks for the update as always. Still praying for you and your health, and I'm still hoping for the best. Question: I've recently been getting into a game called Turnip28, essentially napolionic weird wars, and in the process of building a faction I have a question. Can gunpowder be modified so that the flash produces a blue color? The idea was a scout unit that would play on the superstitions around the will of the wisps.

2023-09-15 14:26:39 +0000 UTCYour welcome. Im a very something-shiney kind of guy so a schedule of content is alien to me. I check for podcast/patreon/youtube and if its there yay! If its not i assume i just checked too early.

2023-09-14 12:26:55 +0000 UTCAppreciate you humoring the shameless plug for the missus' art. Its been fun seeing her get praised and have to come to terms with the notion that she's far better at what she does than she was willing to give herself credit for. That said.... It sounds like a solid roadmap to me, if the team thinks it can be done then I have full faith that it can. Having smaller, bite sized chunks to fill in the space between major productions is a good call imo, and the vehicle guide works beautifully for that. As for the history video question, I'd say go for lake eerie. Not least of which because after looking them up a while back when Dep said he had gotten some gas grenades in for research it made me curious to see just how batshit the company was. I understand the concern about it being received in bad faith by outrage peddlers, but if I'm honest....the people who would throw stones like you described are already known assholes that made a shitfit over stupid things, like having Fiaura or Father Bill on the podcast, or not making a political statement by choosing sides when Everything Battletech melted down. If people can't understand that you can talk about the development and deployment of something in an academic fashion without making moral judgements about it, then fuck em they dont deserve ice cream at the end of the day. Just my two bits. As much as I would -love- to hear more about the Fulda Gap and Cold War, the chemical company has my vote. Could always do the cold war series later on, or feature discussion about it on the podcast if so inclined. So long as the team thinks it doable y'all generally can do most anything and have my thumbs up. Also, noted on the timing of the Urbie announcement. Pinky was raised, promise was made. Not a word to anyone who wasnt listening to the sekret project pitch with me. One does not go back on the sacred oath that is a pinky promise!

2023-09-14 11:15:33 +0000 UTCI'm especially looking forward to whichever vehicle guide features the Mobile Long Tom. People need to learn that even if they have the newest, fanciest, stompiest 'mech in the whole Inner Sphere their day can still get absolutely ruined by a vehicle that only costs slightly more than an Urbie. Plus, Sarna says that its primary weapon system is older than spaceflight itself, thus we should already have Long Toms IRL. Which real-world weapon do you think is most similar to the glorious Long Tom Artillery Piece?

2023-09-14 02:27:49 +0000 UTCAcme Inc sounds fun, I remember that gas trooper video. The Fulda Gap is something I know about but not know know about so I'd be happy with some expert opinion. I have thoughts on the ideologies behind the Cold War and their continuations but I know you try to avoid those topics. Find what pace you can sustain and keep at it, just pencil in time for when the radiator fails. You don't have to read the following on air or comment on it, it's just for fun and maybe a bit of spirit lifting. Finished my first dnd campaign recently, took a year and went from lv1 to 13. My warlock was the only one who survived the whole thing. Ended up masterminding the assassination of the Empress of the Elves, multiple demigods (needed due to causing a 1 on the Henderson scale), a race war (Elves and Dwarfs of course), bumbling into two other wars, brokering a surrender (and were paid for it), buying a small blackhole grenade called 'Last Resort', and in the epilogue; buying the freedoms of tieflings from hell, creating a spy satellite, and possibly becoming a deity thanks to the Kuo-toa. All-in-all I'd say it was fairly successful. Though I do need to remind the DM about my plan for vampiric psychic kudzu aka 'operation underdark roto-router'. Yes, this was actually my first campaign. Blame /tg/. Hope you got a chuckle Tex, best to you and the crew.

2023-09-13 13:23:29 +0000 UTCGood morning! Thanks for the update, best wishes to you and your crew. As one who played Traveler in the ancient times (still have the books around here somewhere), I remember it being a solid game and would greatly enjoy your group's take on it. Updating the Urbie and the Black Knight sound amazing and while looking forward to them, but please do not push yourselves too hard. As someone who has worked in higher ed for a long time, the benefits are usually quite good, so were I to make a suggestion that might be a good place to look in terms of career... Having a "less good" experience with the VA health care, I looked for places that had better options/benefits over the higher pay elsewhere (TANSTAAFL per usual). Well, that and got tired of dealing with evil consulting firms or places being bought out and all local IT being outsourced/replaced... Good luck out there sir!

2023-09-13 07:02:43 +0000 UTCTex, says me, make Traveler the priority. They’re all awesome projects but you got a unique opportunity to do a bit of history there with first person accounts straight from the creator. My dad also was a Vietnam veteran like Mike. He was in Saigon for TET, took many of the photographs you’d associate with that event in a history book. You as a history guy would’ve probably wanted to hear the story. That’ll never happen now. Four years ago he was taken, far too early. Cancer. Agent orange exposure in Vietnam. That generation is fading rapidly away and all their knowledge and stories with them forever. Tell their stories firsthand while you can. I can think of no greater compliment to give them. TTBT & TTH can wait their turns.
