Currently listening to the Magistratum Mundanis series while waiting on more traveler. Currently on episode 11 and I'd like to know just 1 thing. How and why porta-nuke?

The guy should be named Mr. Cottontail.

2024-01-23 13:55:50 +0000 UTCHey Tex, Great to hear all those projects moving forward. I second as well your book suggestion to the audience, as I have my own pile of new books (always between 12 to 20 in the past recent years) in my kitchen table - and a good library of old books I go back to once in a while. There is nothing wrong to have a ritual/routine of escapism to balance out the insanity of the world. I agree that all BattleTech factions have to be taken with a grain of salt and to enjoy more their complexities and gray areas, especially depending on the time period. While I appreciate all your works on the BattleTech 'classic period', I do wonder about your own take on where the new IlClan era of the setting will go. I found that since the Blackist Purge and Dark Age, BattleTech doesn't seem to outgrow the successes of its initial setting. For me, mainly because of Sven van der Plank works on the Age of War era, my own take of the IlClan period is a widespread rise of those small states to shake off all those old boys in the yard and yes, break a bit more those plot armors. As an enjoyer of the old (1st ed) Great House sourcebooks, I would personnaly like to get more of that nation building focus. Like someone wrote in 2022: I've joined BattleTech for the stumpy robots, I've stayed for its politics.

2024-01-20 15:49:56 +0000 UTCBest of luck for the new job! I’ve always felt a job consists of the people, the work, and the money and if you’re ticking two of those boxes you can be reasonably happy. You can put up with a shitty job if you’re working with decent people and the pay is ok, and you can put up with poor pay if you enjoy your job. I’m trying to get better at tabletop - mostly Alpha Strike. You’ve said previously that Sun Tzu is not necessarily the most applicable guidance. What would you recommend reading to make me a better table top tactician? Does Alpha Strike mesh with WWII tank tactics, for example? Second question: are we ever likely to see a LAM TTBT? I will admit my soft spot for them is born from my love of Robotech rather than necessarily their in-game performance. Do you think they fit a valid niche when they were created, but have now been overtaken by fast Clan mechs with XL engines? Looking forward to whatever comes next!
