You are simply the best reactor, Aileen, in that you choose to look below the surface and are curious as to the true meaning. Here a couple quotes from Chino Moreno... In relation to his often ambiguous yet image-heavy poetic lyrics, he said, "[Sometimes] my lyrics don't deal with specific topics. I write down on paper the feelings of the moment, it's not easy to explain the contents of the lyrics or give a logical sense to the words. What I write is also a reaction to the music we make, so the Deftones' sound is not pop, it doesn't communicate happy feelings. Paradoxically my favorite songs of the album talk about love, in a clearly different view." Moreno's lyrics were described by Time as "suggesting emotions rather than announcing them".[166] Moreno himself described his lyrics as ambiguous and sometimes impersonal, saying: "I like to be ambiguous when writing to a certain extent, and throwing something so brash [as Chi's accident] against that and playing with it. And also making it sound dimensional. Giving the feeling off that it is raw and it is emotional, but it's not just connected with our personal story. It's not merely about our career and our lives, it's bigger than that. When I hear the music, I get inspired to paint the lyrical pictures you describe, but I'm not always talking about myself". I'm always curious as to the influences that a band has for as music is evolution from one era to another. Here are some of the influences for Deftones... Deftones' influences include Faith No More, Primus, Bad Brains,[168] and Hum.[169] Additionally, Moreno has cited Prince,[161] the Cure, Duran Duran,[170] DJ Shadow, Portishead, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, Depeche Mode, Thompson Twins, and the Human League,[171] as personal influences. You're absolutely correct in Chino's lyrics being open to interpretation as all art is. I like to use the analogy of going to an art museum and walking up to a painting and listen to other people as they gaze at the canvas. You are wonderfully analytical. Each of the covers on your reactions to Deftones to denote this. To end this discussion, I have to say that to understand you people must begin at the beginning of your reactions and bring it forward. The compilation of all the music that you have listened to allows you to know what you were talking about. Your reactions encompass the reality that you enjoy melodically, vocally, and lyrically while also allowing the watcher to enjoy the reaction as well. A wonderful gift that you have that we all get to enjoy. And that is why we love your channel so much and we love you so much. Have a great day you and Arya with much love 😊👍💪❤️🙏🕯️
