POLL: Choose the Next EPL
Added 2023-05-29 20:59:26 +0000 UTCHi y'all,
I've selected five classic albums from our Master List as options for our next Extended Play Lounge. Choose your favorite!
Of course, I've heard some of Pet Sounds...but not all. And I don't think I know much from any of the other four.
The poll will run through Thursday June 1.

Have you done Pet Sounds yet?

2023-08-08 19:29:48 +0000 UTCI'd love to have Doug do my childhood favorite road trip album, Wakeman's Journey to the Center of the Earth. I still listen to it in the car when I need to feel epic.

2023-06-07 02:37:58 +0000 UTCI am sad that Jeff Beck's snoozefest is getting more votes, but c'est la vie.

2023-05-30 23:37:56 +0000 UTCI am equally enthusiastic about instrumental music as I am texted music. It's just that I have more personal experience writing texted music.

2023-05-30 16:05:00 +0000 UTCJust seeing Fairport Convention in the poll makes me smile. They probably won't win but raising awareness of this amazing band is a great step forward!

2023-05-30 15:54:12 +0000 UTCI think Blow by Blow was the most impactful album (maybe Pet Sounds too?). If BbB doesnβt win, i hope The Snow Goose does. Iβm fairly new here, but my sense is that Doug is not enthusiastic about all-instrumental albums. Is that at all accurate?

2023-05-30 15:13:13 +0000 UTCCamel is a terrific band. Everything they did is excellent. Even "I can see your house from here", which is the most pop album has Ice which is a 10 mins piece. If you have not listened to Mirage is absolutely fantastic and so are Raindances and Dust and Dreams. Andy Latimer is a seriously underrated guitarist. Unfortunately not too much is available for digital purchase.

2023-05-30 13:13:07 +0000 UTCI would to see The Snow Goose! Camel definitely need some love from Doug.

2023-05-30 13:08:25 +0000 UTCI love Fairport Convention's Liege and Lief (and saw it performed live with 5/6 of the original band), so I voted for that. Looks like it is trailing the poll results so far. If another album wins, I hope it is Pet Sounds.

2023-05-30 04:20:23 +0000 UTCGoing with The Snow Goose for sentimental reasons :)

2023-05-30 03:07:42 +0000 UTCI believe Dr. Doug intends to do the Magnificent Seven in chronological order. TOCCC will be the next after Threshold.

2023-05-30 02:37:40 +0000 UTCHardest choice so far! All are great and welcome. I had to go with Jeff Beck here, because my vote is never in the top 3 so why start now π€£

2023-05-30 00:20:59 +0000 UTCVoted for the Moodies because it's the beloved soundtrack of my teenage years! But I'll be happy hearing Camel if they win. From what I know about them and have heard (not a lot), I enjoy their music very much. Needless to say, you'll have to get to ALL of these SOME day! :-)

2023-05-29 23:15:16 +0000 UTCYeah, this is definitely one of the hardest to choose. I think that Doug would like some of the folk-rock groups such as Fairport Convention, Incredible String Band, and Pentangle. However, I voted for more Moodies. . .

2023-05-29 22:43:10 +0000 UTCEverybody needs some Sandy Denny. If the album doesn't make it, please do a review of Fairport Convention's version of "Tam Lin". Thank you.
