I Started a Secondary YouTube Channel...

Hi y'all. I've been thinking about doing this for quite a while. I have increasingly grown to dislike being on the Facebook and X platforms, and I wanted a place to post some musings and ancillary content. So, The Dougout on YouTube is the place!

I'll be discussing a bit more personal things in a more informal style. And, I'll likely do some music videos as well. I invite you to subscribe if you'd like!

Thanks, as always, for your support!

My son has Type I diabetes and it truely was a shock when we first found out. I obviously did not know how to help or what to do other than give support. Although there have been problems he is doing quite well. Staying vigilant monitoring is the main thing and so far so good. All the best from Australia.

Regardless, I am rooting for you and Meg, "Go, TEAM!"

While not knowing about your life beyond your 'casts/channels if you can end up doing an hours worth of DougOut while hitting the streets you will be well on your way to lessening the overall effects of the grips of Type 2 Diabetes (T2D). Respect the advise of your clinicians. A lot of people are successfully being TREATED for this condition, the important word here IS "treated" NOT condition. You put on shoes to walk through challenging terrain. You use a seat belt when you drive. Now you should pay a little attention to a set of numbers. It's kinda like learning why Hip Hop is different than Rap.

That's a brave thing to do, the Dougout, much respect! I subscribed right away and I'm sure the channel will be filled with good people and lots of support! Here's wishing all the best to your life with D2, hope you find an active support and peer network in your situation. D2 is very common here in Finland as well and from what I have seen with some friends who have D2, there is indeed support to be had and usually not too far either. I'm sure it'll be like that in the US as well. Sending you good vibes across the Atlantic! ❤️🎶

Hi Doug, so sorry to hear your diagnosis, but please check out and get this book, https://www.amazon.com/8-Week-Blood-Sugar-Diet-Medication/dp/150111123X/ref=sr_1_1?crid=14IFNICLWWEO4&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.pLTLd-rXCIRoDaENU-aKnn2qU8nodi7kmvkbKeG4Gk4.k3Rfclr3sZYwJRSoooYughzmdtvzy6dn-ZUQlYR47wM&dib_tag=se&keywords=The+8-Week+Blood+Sugar+Diet%3A+Lose+weight+fast+and+reprogramme+your+body+%28The+Fast+800+series%29&qid=1723538464&sprefix=the+8-week+blood+sugar+diet+lose+weight+fast+and+reprogramme+your+body+the+fast+800+series+%2Caps%2C125&sr=8-1

Congratulations on being rid of Facebook and Twitter. It's the right call. I have some people close to me with diabetes and pre-diabetes. It's definitely beatable. Sending you some good vibes as you adapt to this new challenge!

You'll get through this, Doug! You have Megan, your family, and the legions of fans, many of whom (me, for instance) think of you as a friend. I had a life-changing diagnosis a few years ago. But here I am, happy and thriving. If you have good docs, pay attention to them. If you don't have good docs, find some. It's too important. Of course I've subscribed to The Dougout! Take very good care of yourself, Doug. We want you to be around for a long, long time!

Hey Doug. I was 13 when I diagnosed as a Type II diabetic in 1984. Several different insulins and diets 40 years later, I'm more or less in control. I know your diagnosis is alot to take in. I'm sure you have your own personal support system to help you get your through this. Let me tell you now, Dr Doug, that you also have a support system with your fans online. You will get through this, and you will have much help in doing it. And I'll bring it back to music with a quote from Franklin's Tower by the Grateful Dead: "If you get confused, listen to the music play!" Sign me up for The Dougout! (will there be sunflower seeds?) Take care, Doug!

Andrew Marsh

Wish you all the best Doug. Follow all the recommendations - it is most definitely treatable.

Oh, you'll be totally fine. Just get on Tirzepatide (if you aren't already on it). Lose something like 13-15% of body weight. You'll feel a lot better. Also be sure to be on low dose metformin. 500mg, 1g etc. daily. It has fantastic longevity benefits. You'll do great. Technology has progressed so much that T2D is very treatable, perhaps even curable if you lose all the weight!! I'm on both of these drugs and I'm not even diabetic :) I've been on them for weight loss. Technology is great. You'll be totally fine. Wishing you best. Cheers. PS: I have a friend who cured his T2D by going zero fat. His T2D comes back when he eats fat. When he eats zero fat, no T2D. Not sure if you want to explore anything like that. It's a difficult diet.

Love this idea, Doug. Because you don't have near enough work already. I kid because I love. Yes, this should be a great outlet for you. So sorry about the diabetes, but you got this!

Tom (the soggy one)

Hi Doug, sorry about your diagnosis. I remember the gut punch when I was diagnosed 6 years ago right after moving to a new state during my first visit with a new doctor. So I can empathize with what you might be feeling right now. But after initially being put on medication, I have been able to control my glucose with exercise and diet alone. Good luck my friend, and I’ll see you at the Dougout!

Klaus

Hey, Doug. Fellow diabetic (T1) for over 40 years now, with a mom with T2 and a son with T1. Sending you strength for your lifestyle changes and adaptation to the new situation, as well as to send some hope for you that it’s not so bad and you can live a quite normal life with a bit of adaptation and planning!
