There was a character I think in the old Wh40K Eisenhorn novel series, who wore only a leather catsuit for ease of movement whilst stabbing things with a huge sword, with precisely placed metal studs for deflecting blade strikes from vital organs. Same logic obviously applies to bullets and obscenely huge nipple rings.
