Every President's Education

So, incredibly, this ended up being the longest video I have ever made. It really, really got out of control. Good thing I started working on it three weeks ago! But yeah, I guess I just really got into it because I love presidential history and I also love education.

For the record, I think Obama might be the smartest President we've ever had, even if I disagreed with him on certain policies.

Don't tell anyone I said that.  Oh wait...

Thank you for your continued support!

Yeah I thought Nixon's would have been higher!

Mr. Beat

I watched this while I was extremely tired, I fell asleep and had a dream that I was back in college and about to fail a class I never attended. I re-watched it and it's a good video. I figured either Garfield or John Quincy Adams would've had the highest IQs for presidents. I also thought Polk's would be higher.

Paddy Mac

Yes! Chris Farley’s best movie by far. That’s a great scene for sure. An underrated line from the movie is, “I need your John Hancock on these” “John Hancock, it’s Herbie Hancock!”

Naterade

I agree. That's going to be a future video for me one of these days!

Mr. Beat

We JUST watched that movie again. It's a classic. And I know that's cliche, but it's true. Also, my favorite part of that movie is when Chris Farley gets stuck in the rotating doors. "Son of a!"

Mr. Beat

Honestly, I am not well enough educated enough when it comes to math. I'm afraid if I tried the algorithm out myself I would just screw it up.

Mr. Beat

If only Garfield had lived… I tend to place him in his own separate category on tierlists (the category is called ‘not enough time’) but I’m sure he would have made for an A-tier president in most peoples eyes had he survived.

Ralph W. Kelly

As David Spade wisely proclaimed from the movie ‘Tommy Boy,’ “there are two types of smarts: book smarts, which waved bye-bye to you a long time ago (for some of these presidents) and street smarts the ability to read people (which I think all these presidents possessed to a certain degree otherwise they wouldn’t have been elected president)

Naterade

Matt Beat I didn't use anything. I just reported what Simonton reported.

Pat Iapicca

Fair criticism. Something to take into account for sure... I guess I get hung up more on the term of incumbency on progressive advancement vs malicious intent; but that's changing gears all together as opposed to the subject of the origins of education. Thanks mate.

DANTE VERONA

I didn't use anything. I just reported what Simonton reported.

Mr. Beat

But you used his methods for all the other presidents with his subjectivity.

Pat Iapicca

Another thing to consider is how our brains don't fire neurons when we're older like when we're younger. I think both Trump and Biden were much sharper 30 years ago, for example. But you're right about Obama for sure (and probably Bush, too 🙂)

Mr. Beat

Please don't worry. Complain away! I am not offended, I promise! 🙂

Mr. Beat

Not possible to use his methods as they left too much room for subjectivity. Plus, I think not bringing up their IQs is probably wise considering the current political climate. I'm also secretly hoping viewers will attempt to calculate their IQs using Simonton's method. Btw I haven't posted the link to his paper yet.

Mr. Beat

Barack Obama is an elegant diplomat and superior intellect. By contrast, his respective predecessor and (far worse) successor are abnormally unintelligent... It further provokes questions about the integrity of the general citizenry.

DANTE VERONA

It really killed me to complain to you. I love all your stuff.

Pat Iapicca

I'm very sorry Matt but I think you dropped the ball here. People who would click on "Who was the smartest President" really want to know the intelligence quotient of Obama, Trump and Biden. All the others were filler. They waited 40 minutes to see your take on it and you chose to not make waves and say "We don't know his IQ score". You could have simply used Simonton's methods to extrapolate their IQ's but you chose not to.

Pat Iapicca

Yeah those are all great nominations there. Madison in particular stands out for me.

Mr. Beat

Thank you Larry!

Mr. Beat

He rarely spoke, but when he did oh boy did folks listen. 🙂

Mr. Beat

He got the crash course of everything, basically, in a very short span of time.

Mr. Beat

Jefferson and Madison for creating an incredible document and Lincoln for self education with his dedication to writing speeches and proclamations that will stand the course of time Growing up I always thought JFK was an incredible wit and insights impeccable I don’t think any President was the smartest since they were dedicated to their life as a President in many unsettling times and most handled the circumstances well

Larry D. Deutchman

I wonder if Coolidge had any funny speeches back when he was in college.

Devin Canada

Smartest could be :

Larry D. Deutchman

Quite an entertaining Video lesson!

Larry D. Deutchman

So many people had faith in Pierce like Hawthorne, it is sad that Pierce is one of our all time worst presidents after knowing how many had such high hopes for him.

Devin Canada

Holy crap Polk...! Can you imagine barlley knowing to read and right then magically know greek and latin. he had to have the ability to remember information, and pick it up rapidly.
