Why Christmas Is So Freaking Popular

So I found out through researching for this video that there really was a War on Christmas. I also found out that most of the Christmas traditions we love today are fairly recent, like only going back 50, 100, or 150 years.

I've been busy lately, but plan on taking a bit of a break in January. Believe it or not, I have a lot more planned for 2021. Stay tuned!

Thanks for your continued support, and Happy Holidays!

Merry Christmas, and that's really kind of you to say!

Mr. Beat

Merry Christmas Mr Beat! You're one of the best history YouTubers.

Paddy Mac

lol squirrel gets pretty salty in an upcoming video :)

Mr. Beat

Oh squirrel, what would we do without you?

Andrew Schneider

Merry Christmas to you and yours as well! We are going to visit my side of the family on Christmas Day, down by Wichita.

Mr. Beat

Actually, this is contested. You may indeed be correct, but what you just said was also conjecture, as the evidence is sketchy. You should check out the two Religion for Breakfast videos I suggested. That's where I learned all about it.

Mr. Beat

Really enjoyed watching this video. Had a discussion with my friends about the history of Christmas last night, so I guess I watched this at just the right time! Also, Merry Christmas to you and your family. What are you doing for Christmas Day?

Ralph W. Kelly

Which Saturnalia? It evolved over the years

Mr. Beat

Saturnalia only lasted 3 days, ended on December 20th.

Devin Canada

You have a error in your video. Sol Invictus had no date mentioned in earliest inscriptians mentioning the holliday. the 25th was only mentioned as Sol Invictus day in the year 354. The evidence seems to point that Pagans moved the day of Sol Invictus to compete with the growing popularity of Christianity which was already legalized by this time .

Devin Canada

Thanks for the warning

Mr. Beat

One side note... It's not for little kids. Nothing graphic; it's just the ideas and use of language are rather sophisticated.

DANTE VERONA

I haven't seen that one but will definitely check it out now! Hilarious and malicious is my favorite combination. 😄

Mr. Beat

Great work! Just my mere opinion but I would say the best Christmas movie is "The Lion in Winter" from 1968. For a heavy drama it's surprisingly funny. Seriously it's hilarious; but oh man it is also malicious as hell... You're a bright dude, Mr. Beat. If you don't know it already I bet you would totally dig it. Cheers!

DANTE VERONA

Same to you Adam!

Mr. Beat

Same to you and yours, Gael!

Mr. Beat

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year Matt, Shannon, and girls!

Gael Guerard

Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays Matt!
