I wanted to portray them in a more adult-like relationship where they recognize each other's feelings and their greatest wish is to be each other's main source of happiness.
For Hawks he was already content being by Endeavor's side but now he has something extra to be happy about it! For Endeavor, he now has someone that will support and love him no matter what.
If it wasn't for Nagant, they might have never progressed more than just co-worker relationship...!
