Patreon Q & A

Hey guys! Thinking of doing a Patreon only ask me anything. If there's ever any questions you had about me or this channel, ask away and I'll make a video just for here. Thanks!

Comments

Thank you so much for replying! I really ought to pay better attention to when things were posted :P

Ah I just dropped the AMA, but I'll do another one soon! For merch, hoping soon. I could just drop some teespring or something with the logo, but I want to make something really cool and different rather than just taking png and logo files I already have and putting them on tee's. That's taking time but I'm hoping real soon! Again I don't want to make just any old shit, I genuinely want to make cool looking designs you might like to wear. As for the videos, just a lot of work haha! I go into it in the video, but I am genuinely constantly working on videos. I love doing it though, it was my hobby for so long so being able to do it full time is an incredible opportunity. I love doing this so working a lot is no bother at all :) Thanks Chris! Really appreciate your support!

Ahhhhh I just released the video, but I'll do another one soon! I'll answer your question here though. Honestly you're right on! I try to keep a ratio, and not have my channel go too far in any direction. Most recently true crime is my passion, I just find it far more interesting that the others, more compelling, and the fact that it's real just does it. Not saying I wouldn't cover the others, but it's rare to find video about creepy and paranormal stuff that can't be debunked in two seconds. However now that it's October I'll cover a few of them :) But primarily true crime. But as I said I'm not averse to the others, but it'd have to be something truly interesting to catch my attention so to speak. And something I think you would like to. Thank you so much Elise for watching!!!!!! I appreciate it so so much!

I wanna know when the TC merch is dropping!! Also, how do you manage to crank out such detailed and lengthy videos multiple times a week, and still have a life? Constantly blown away by your work ethic - I'm sure it won't be long to 500k.

Chris W

Only discovered your channel 2 weeks back, but I'm pretty sure I've binged your entire video catalogue already. I wonder how you decide which cases to make videos on, and whether you're conscious of keeping a bit of a ratio between true crime, creepy videos, and paranormal videos, or do you just create whatever has peaked your interest at that time?

Sunny Sinclair

I would totally agree with the other comments. Your videos are well researched, well presented and I love love love your sense of humour! I like others wonder where you find the time, surely you don’t have a full time job?? I definitely want to know what you tubers you watch... if any? I would love to know more about you, if you’re willing to share, but also get you might not want to. What amazes me most is how you don’t have a larger following. I love watching you and the videos are great... win win for all your fans

Denise Harper

Good call. I was thinking a subreddit or something but this is probably a better idea

Would you make a discord for Patrons only? I think it would be very fun and a better way to communicate with the patrons. Voice chat Fridays or some shit

Vincent Kimblee

I'm more just impressed with how you are able to keep up a high volume of good content and it requires research as well as editing . Would you consider yourself a workaholic or is it just having a perfect system down or both? And where do you see the channel growing towards? As in, do you plan to keep it the same or are you going to be doing other projects we can look out for?

Sara Monroe

Everyone else's questions pretty much cover what I have always wondered. The only thing left is, how old are you? You could say 18 or 30 and I would believe you either way! Edit: I want to add that yours is the first true crime channel I stumbled upon and I have fallen for true crime hard since then. I follow a lot of YouTubers in the genre, but you'll always be my #1 :).

Apologies if any of these are repeats of comments above. 1. Do you have any "hard lines", so to speak, as to what sort of cases you will and won't cover? Are there any cases that interest you but for whatever reason you believe aren't suitable for this channel? 2. Have you considered doing any collaborations with other channels operating in this space? 3. Do you have ambitions for other projects you would like to undertake if this one really gets off the ground and frees you up financially? 4. Basic, but fun one: what are the top three cases you've covered so far that fascinate you personally the most? 5. I generally don't like on-screen YouTube hosts, and you're one of I would say two that I do like, and I think a big part of that is you're really adept at striking a proper tone to the subject matter. What are some challenges you've had along the way in writing your scripts?

I feel like that case is too depraved for this channel (pretty much impossible to make any jokes about). Would fall in the same category as like The Toolbox Killers, Paul Bernardo and Karla Homolka, etc. Plus there isn't really much of an element of mystery to it

David Ray Parker.

I'd love to know more about how you do your research and what kinds of data bases you use, etc.etc. if that's something you want to share. I often wonder when you're talking exactly how you've come across certain information. Then again, giving away all of your sources would be rather ridiculous! I'm betting you'll be able to put together a far better program than any of us could think up anyway. The Captain is always fun! Maybe some behind the scenes tid bits?? EDIT - after watching repeats of 'That Chapter', I have a new question for YOU personally, Mike, and maybe this is too personal, but hey, I'm Australian, i'll ask ALL the bad questions, ha. How were you brought up Mike? Lol, I mean, were you brought up with religious beliefs? Are you an atheist? Are you an alien? Do you believe in - what??? Personally I'm a complete Atheist, and find it difficult to 'believe in' anything at all that doesn't have scientific proof. I also wondered if you have a background in journalism of any kind as you seem to be QUITE at home in front of the camera and have a natural story tellers intrigue. Would love to know your take on the religious side of stuff, and anything else that you might think is fun to share. Cheers! Pickle - OUT . :P Stay cool and good luck with it Mike!

I did wonder about whether or not you’d do a Halloween show featuring true stories that aren’t already well known. Like yours, your trusted friends, I have a few I could type in... and believe me I’m a skeptic now so I am super conflicted about them b/c they fukn happened. And of course other listeners true ghost or paranormal shiz. But also, you’re super cool, funny and cute, but you already knew thaaaat;) oh that last part wasn’t a question.. it was a FACT. ☺️

Christa Mullen

I would like you to talk about how much time it goes into doing what you do as I think many people take for granted what YouTubers do and just expect a video to be up there like it is nothing hard on the creator's part to do.

Sean DeMarco

What's the spookiest/creepiest thing that's happened to you personally?

Zal Xaphan Abaddon

Hi Mike. Do you have any plans to expand the That Chapter Channel as well as making additional Patreon tier levels of support that you may be looking into? Also is your favorite NFL team the Falcons?

Michael Green

I’ve seen on your instagram page that you seem to be a gamer. What are your favorite video games?

Turtle Squirts

I'm tempted to ask if you ever get any sleep, but seriously, it's obvious that you love what you do and I suspect that you're making a decent living from it. I'm from California. Most of us Californians, including me, worship a god called Privacy. I'd love to hear you talk about why you do what you do.

Bart Atwood-Ebi

What kind of camera, lights and mics do you use? Also editing program and any other BTS production stuffs I’d be super interested in.

Anna Schiera

Is this your full time job? I'm always impressed by the quality of your videos and the research that had to go into them, and then *bam* you release another while I'm still pondering the first. Also have you ever been stateside? Do you have someone here or in other countries that help you? I found you through a case I worked on, but for privacy reasons I won't discuss, but it was insanely complicated, was left open and hanging, and I didn't even know it had been solved till I saw your video. You covered it so completely and thorough ly it almost played out how I expected an actual, legal report I would turn in to a attorney or insurance company.

Vanessa Vigil-Martinez

Do you have a team or is all the research and production you alone? Also, did you make a conscious decision not to promote your Patreon in your videos? I only found this by searching Patreon to find out if you accepted donations.

Laura J

What other youtubers do you watch?

Brian Thacker

I remember the video of you walking up to visit an Irish castle. Would love some more personal visits to sites like Mysterious WV does, but realize hampered by geography and finances. But also would like to know, who is Mike?!

Kimberly Bridges

There is some serious competition out there regarding true crime/missing persons, how do you keep it so much more original than many of the content providers who either use barely related stock photos to illustrate their stories or the Buzzfeeds who have the budget and researchers that you don’t?

Uremawife Nowdave

What did you study at university?

Blake Griffin

Where have you lived and what did you want to do as a career growing up?

Icechocobo

Seeing the constant flow of video`s published and its not old video`s in a new jacket, are you doing this all by yourself?

Paul Wevers

I think an AMA is an awesome idea! You should definitely do it!

Nicolina Gallo

I'm wondering if there's a case you think you could do a full episode on? Like an hour, hour n half? A really good case, with some theories of your own at the end?

Nicolina Gallo

What's your process for choosing what to make a video about?
