His fascination with starwars could be sign in that direction. Mature people normally grow out of these kind of things. I hate using the term "normal" people so i use mature.... Also seems like his only social contact was Lisa in the out door world. And they were spending a lot of time together. So she was his world besides his work. That is not healthy for the type of person he seems to be. Mike says he had a crush on her. I am not sure. What happens when you have crush on someone and finally after all that time she makes a move? It could be more in a different manner. If we go with the type of person that is mostly at work and alone at home, being online and seeing only a woman he works with who is married to a woman. Probably Aspergers. No girlfriend or known past girlfriend. Maybe even a virgin. That sudden act towards intimacy could be the scariest shit ever for him. It takes him so much out of his comfort zone that his mind gets raped as he puts it. I can see how such a type without any backup like family or other friends that set him straight looses himself in his thoughts and the reality he sees. Truth, how things really are, does not care about what you might feel as a wrong justification of events. Truth does not care about emotion. Knowing to little on how he felt in that relationship with her and the reality of his probably non exciting social life will keep this case and the way Mike is portraying it speculation on motive and background. And mike is normally spot on in case of motive and background story`s.

One observation, I am not defending Loya's action, at ALL, but he mentions that Lisa tried to kiss him and then also grab him and try to push him onto the bed. Again, not defending his actions, but if he does have Aspergers and he thought Lisa was a dear, dear friend, might he not be totally astounded that she betrayed their friendship in a drunken arse move as she did? In a way, I sort of understand how her actions might have thrown him into an absolute tailspin and make him question their close friendship. Anyhoo, my 2c. At the other end of the scale, the pain, shock and horror in Anna's eyes - how absolutely heartbreaking.

They also had to deal with what they presumed was a live bomb, which means calling another unit. The 111 operator stayed on the phone with Anna the whole time. The phone recording is heartbreaking to hear

Especially asperger syndrome. My son was dx with aspergers when he was about 8 years old, and I subsequently was able to meet other parents , and their children with the dx. They are not narcissistic, they do not have a lack of remorse or empathy at all. If anything it’s more harmful to THEM than it is to those around them.

However, he knew he was having mental health problems and should have sought treatment. He was well enough to recognize that he wasn't thinking in a healthy manner. His health is his responsibility. If he didn't question himself so much, I would be inclined to think differently. But he knew full well he was impaired and did not seek treatment.

I think a similar case with a woman being grabbed by the arm to the bedroom by a drunk male would have been investigated further by his superiors and police. It’s clear he isn’t completely working with regular social constructs so the Asperger diagnosis isn’t shocking. You’re right that mental health checks could have potentially saved this situation - but too often you only know people need those checks after the fact :(.
