I remember watching Silkwood in the early 80's with Meryl Streep, Cher and I believe Kurt Russell. Very good movie! She was definitely murdered. There was no way all of that plutonium (radiation) could have been in her house without someone putting it in there. Not only did she have it but her two roomates did as well all the way down to their food in the fridge. She never had a chance when she became a whistleblower and was going to give all her evidence to a reporter. They forced her off the side of the road, drugged her, stole all her files and put her back in the car to have a more severe crash. Her family should have been awarded a lot more money in the civil case they won which said she was murdered. What really blows mind to this day is all the horrible things her daughter has said about her. I understand she will probably always be upset her Mother did not "turn the other cheek" and never put herself in a situation to be murdered so her children could have grown up with their Mom but if Karen never exposed all the unsafe and illegal things within the company, who knows how much more plutonium would have been stolen and how many other workers would have probably gotten cancer from radiation exposure and died. I am glad the rest of her family, including her son are proud of her for doing the right thing, I just wish her daughter was not so dang naive and wake up to what was really going on back then!
