Hey folks, so this was a topic I made a video on a while ago and never published, only here. I recently remade it because I wasn't happy with the original version. Lemme know what you think! I guess I'm still kicking the tires about whether I should publish or not
No problem Mike I genuinely like your videos.

The guy who showed up with the note could have been pulling off the biggest bs ever. He even mentioned that a buddy could have done it and gave reasons as to why. Just because he said his family was getting threats doesn't mean it really was happening. If anyone has any proof showing the threats were real with solid evidence I will throw this whole idea of him and a buddy being in on this together. Also could they not have taken finger prints from the bill and the letter? Yes the bill would likely have been handled by too many people to pull a good print but the letter eh that is another story. Anyway saw this story before but nothing like being reminded of something cool from the past again. Watching it again gets the brain working wondering once again what this all was about.

Thanks for posting this, Mike. As a guy who is way too Online, I'm pretty surprised I hadn't heard of this before. To start, I think the least credible theory is that it was a military intelligence recruitment scheme. For one, there seem to be nothing particularly exceptional about OP, so it doesn't make sense why he was targeted. If he wasn't targeted — if it was just random — then that's a really financially inefficient way to flail about for candidates. And in any case, one would expect a person to seek out secondary help online, which kinda defeats the purpose of recruitment. It would have been an exceptionally stupid intelligence exercise.
I think that OP sounded sincere in his interview when he said that he wasn't behind it. Ostensibly though, that *would* be the simplest explanation: it was a hoax he started that got out of hand once he got doxxed and he shut down. On the other hand, I don't know if he had a hobby for cryptology or something, but he really just did seem like any other New York college kid. Not sure what his original endgame would have even been.
Personally, what I'm going with is that it actually was some kind of viral marketing ploy, but not one that was very well thought out from all angles. Once the OP gave that interview where he talked about being doxxed, and then it subsequently got worse, they pulled the plug for fear of litigation. Does that make sense? That's the best explanation I can think of right away.
Anyways the video itself is good, I say go for it.

I think it was an ELABORATE hoax.

I think the homeless guy was given the $50 and the note and told to give them to some random person. Maybe it was some kind of experiment that didn't work out. What kind of experiment was it? Who the hell knows. This is just speculation, obviously, but I don't think it was a hoax.

I think this was really interesting but just weird (not the video) but the situation. But in the end I think it was just a hoax. Also I think you should post it on youtube!
