They weren't certain that he WAS involved in the planning. Maybe he told people she was preggo because he actually thought she was. She was even keeping some sort of pregnancy journal to make it seem real - why would she do that he if already knew she wasn't really pregnant? He did cover-up the crime, though, and that's pretty gross.

Knowing she couldn't protect her baby from monsters. I can't fathom the sheer terror that would cause. And they get lenient sentences. They believed a man with a record of child abuse, fracturing his child's head, when he claimed he wasn't involved. And that cold bitch cackled in the interview, it should have been shown in court to refute those crocodile tears. Sick bastards shouldn't ever see the light of day again!
