The Case of Christian "Kit" Martin

Hope you enjoy this one, I did researching it! It's very recent, and it's bananas, very convoluted so I hope I made it clear, and very odd. Honestly I'm a bit confused regarding the ending, but I hope you like it!

The Case of Christian "Kit" Martin

Comments

I literally not only bursted out laughing But replayed it over at least 6 time “Louisville” 😆😆😆 I’m so glad to be a patron! You never fail!!! I bet you aced all your book reports- I am jealous 🤣

Wynee B

It’s called pattern of abuse for a reason. His 1st wife said he never laid a hand on her and she knew him for decades. It starts young and just escalates. I don’t believe for a second he put a hand on his step son or Joan. I think she was a complete psycho and framed him. There way too much reasonable doubt here.

Maria

This guys ex-wife is SERIOUSLY vindictive. I don’t believe for a second he abused his step son or her. His 1st wife vouched for him. It’s called a PATTERN OF ABUSE for a reason. I’ll be honest, I don’t think he did it. I think they need to look at his psycho ex a little more. She’s nuts!!!

Maria

Yeahhhh, it was the army guy.

Lauren Lovecraft

This was disturbing. I wasn't sure if I believed Kit or not. I was back and forth. Felt bad when the verdict was read if he really didn't do it. The dog tags appeared planted, just weird

Carols Sweet

Woops, I guess it was Rita that threatened the violence. Sorry. Still comical. I won't hold my breath waiting on the fury of the Marines to come after me haha lol.

dougie

To all the people who lashed out in Mike's defense, I really don't care what you have to say and I really didn't read many of them but this one from Kathleen which seemed to threaten violence (ROTFL too funny, truly! Yawn) . I noticed nobody commented on the substance, just personal attacks, which tells me those people are not so smart. That said, here is my batch response: 1. I have a sense of humor but the frequency of those put downs is such that it's more of voicing an opinion on Mike's part - that farming communities are shit holes and by extension people who live there are second class. For example he doesn't say "We're going to Chicago, a place that's practically a war zone - yuck yuck". 2. I was born and raised originally in the city so this is just more my sense of fairness not self defense. 3. People were rightly outraged when Trump wholesale referred to whole countries as "shitholes" based on his ignorant preconception, same idea here. 4. It's ignorant to condescend and put down farming communities or ANY community so to those of you who lashed out, once again - your words have absolutely zero value or effect with me. I will take the hugs I saw someone offer.

dougie

Wow someone doesn't have a sense of humour....or a life! Such a nasty, pathetic and childish overreaction.....how old are you exactly?? 🤔 Go and give your head a wobble and come back when you can behave 😁 Think you owe Mike an apology too....

Kathy Brown

my favorite line is about the pronunciation of “Louisville”. Stay awesome Mike

Rosie L Hill

I get why the dog tags would look like they’ve been planted (could be) - so they need to look at who would have them at the time of the murders in order to put them there. I have no theories on who did it, but the it doesn’t seem like they aren’t trying very hard to find out. To find a shell casing later could be that it was planted or that it was a lazy investigation. Didn’t anyone look for fingerprints and DNA on the “planted” (again- I have no idea if they were or not) items? This sounds like a great case to pass along to Matt Orchard!

Betsy

I don't think this guy did it. Sounds like his ex-wife, bigamist lady did this to frame him. A heart scorned can do a lot more damage than people think.

Sue Loiselle

I was listening in the car while I drove to work this morning. Joan did not sound at all genuine in her interview.

Jane Ebbon

dude smoke some weed and calm the fuck down 🤡

Cassiel Winchester

I’ve lived in Kentucky for almost 20 years and I don’t pronounce it ‘loo-uh-vull’.

Laurie McLaren

This one is odd. But Martin is really odd as well. The Army Court Martials him, he goes to jail. The Army did not convict him of the abuse-related charges. But he mishandled classified information by taking it home and leaving it. Shouldn’t take it home unless there are some very exceptional exceptions to policy and some serious classified storage capability in his home which is immensely unlikely. Utterly stupid thing for an Army officer to do. Then he also (much earlier) marries someone who is married already. Again something totally stupid for someone deemed sharp and astute enough to be an officer and an aviator. He says he didn’t know. Why didn’t he check? Just really bizarro for someone in his position to do. Then, prior to his Court Martial one witness for the prosecution and two others who may have possible evidence on his abuse charges end up dead. He says that a PI got a statement from the Court Martial witness who died before he could testify saying that he never heard of abuse. Was that PI asked to give evidence at the trial? Was that PI asked to give evidence at the Court Martial? Not sure but I don’t think so. If not then why? Is it Martin’s word only that Phillips would have exonerated him? Again dunno. But Martin is acting very out of character for a military officer and for a commercial pilot and like the whole world is out to get him (the Army and Law enforcement in two separate trials) while he made decisions that make it very reasonable to conclude that he did the things he was charged with. In some ways he reminds me of the mental reasoning of Christopher Dorner. Hopefully more will come than has already.

Laurie McLaren

I watched the trial - I was confused at points as well! This is a tough one - I believe that he did do the murders... especially how they showed the ladies husband hanging from the trap door under the dog kennel when they were searching the house - very eerie - when they moved the dog bed - saw the pants legs from the pants hanging into something - they found the trap door! you missed a lot on the evidence, however, I don't think that he was alone. you never know. GREAT perplexing case For sure!!! You did well! Thanks again Mike!

TanyaBucel

That wink is the best part of all his videos! :D I don’t think he did it beyond a reasonable doubt. Joan seems to be a bit of a master manipulator though, huh?

Mandi Arnsdorf

I'm not seeing "beyond a reasonable doubt" 😕 I don't get htf they convicted him and I hope he wins his appeal for a new trial. He may have, idk, but, they don't have enough for conviction.

OneBadAss MoMo

I would agree that mishandling classified material or media in the work place can put a black mark on you. Having a fellow officer find the stuff unintentionally in your home is a career ender. That alone would involve a substantial series of investigations to determine if anything went into nefarious or unauthorized hands and certainly a punitive investigation. Truly a stupid, stupid thing to do. My personal feel is if he didn’t do it, he certainly made himself believable as doing it. Just the Army officer culture, this guy had way too much sketchy drama going on, married a woman not knowing that she was married, was accused of some pretty damning stuff by his ex prior to his separation from the Army, and then keeping classified stuff at home. I haven’t seen the evidence, I wasn’t a juror (thank god), so I can’t say whether he is or isn’t guilty but the guy’s life decisions make it somewhat believable.

Laurie McLaren

I dunno, personally in my ten years in I seldom wore my tags. Unless I was going to be doing something where I needed to have them I just didn’t bother with them. Most of my time was pre-911 so it might be different now. Nowadays they may have them wear them. Like I said it left a black grungy ring around the back of my neck and it took ages for it to come out of my skin.

Laurie McLaren

That wink tho.

Kyle Leonard

Also, watching you enjoy telling off whatever "people from Louisville" are called, brightened my day!

Cynthia OfthehouseTargaryen

complicated = gros tas de merde

Cynthia OfthehouseTargaryen

Truth. And do you notice how much (in the interview) he does his best to look like a wide-eyed, innocent boy? Then, when his verdict is read..."If looks could kill." Drew II ain't fooling all of us, that's for certain.

Dahlia

What a crazy one. I watched this trial. Idk about this one I have a lot of reasonable doubt here.

Gabriella Rigoulot

Smearing the character of the victims was not a good idea, but it is in his narcissistic personality to go out of his way to control the narrative and rewrite history. Pretty obviously desperate effort to make himself look good by making the victims look bad.

Jojo

He took the stand? Lol typical narcissist thinks he can smooth talk his way out of everything. I believe Joan. The cultural habit of doubting victims of domestic violence only strengthens the veil of shame and denial. It's hard enough to admit you've been victimized by someone purported to love you, even worse when you are doubted and further victimized by your community. His cell phone record is the biggest bit of evidence and the shell casing sealed his fate. Police ROUTINELY miss crucial evidence , like shell casings, as they are absolutely prone to laziness and sloppy effort. His defense attorney was an embarrassment, the penmanship alone should have gotten him booted from the courtroom lol .

Jojo

Someone needs a hug. 💙

Lisa B

serious Gone Girl vibes, still so many questions, just like you mentioned Mike... anyhoo, thank you for the content!

warufuzake

14:35 he's lying . Lips so dry.. licking them. Deceit.

Jojo

The evidence (dog tags/shell casing) that was found months after the investigation reminded me of the magical discovery of the car keys in "Making A Murderer" on Netflix. I don't know who did this murder, but I don't think it was Joan or Kit.

Sean Buckridge

In the end you said “he probably did it, but reasonable doubt? Idk” if you were on the jury panel and you felt that way, then he should be found not guilty. And tbh. He should’ve been found not guilty. Cause, I agree with you, he may have done it, but “reasonable doubt? Idk”

Jun Aranda

Joan kept her promise, is all I’m saying.

Jun Aranda

@dougie Our Mike 😍 does. no. wrong and deserves to make an irritated remark when he feels like it. Insult Mike or this channel in these comments and incur the wrath of ALL commenters. We are the big dogs. We pay for his free content. BTW disappeared Dougie, knocking on small towns is Mike's shtick and we love it.

Amy GH

I thought this was the case you were talking about when you said recent... And in so excited to watch as soon as my 3 year old goes to bed.... Thanks Mike!! Xx

Sarah Beaumont

i dont believe hes guilty for one second. what a load of shit.

Jack Hodge

Excellent point. I think it was the lack of evidence as a hole but you are right about the dog tags.

Peri Jetton

Thanks, Mike! Great video, as always, and great discussion among us, patrons. Be well. Love ya.

Paula Bernardes-Silva

I think you have a point there... Didn't thought of that.

Paula Bernardes-Silva

@ Charity Dunning I totally agree. In my country, only very special cases are tried by jury, but something I've always admired in the American justice system is that clause: reasonable doubt. And I too think that many times juries don't take that into consideration!

Paula Bernardes-Silva

@ Peri Jetton But even it was the ex wife he had to take them off. She surely couldn't just rip them off of his neck, could she?

Paula Bernardes-Silva

@ Rita Ritz Not that I agree with Dougie (I DO NOT), but your rant would be much scarier if you knew how to spell "guerilla warfare". I don't think gorillas have anything to do with it. LOL

Paula Bernardes-Silva

Oh. My. God. The Burn After Reading clip, YES. Such a horrifically underrated movie. "I thought you might be worried... about the security... of your shit."

Liz C

Completely agree. I'm very bothered actually angry when I heard guilty. I actually yelled "WHAT?" That cheating wh0re used her sexuality for a lot of wrong reasons. A bogus marriage. She lied from the get!

Weezie Tara Crihfield

As a juror I couldn't give a guilty plea on Christian. Joan however! Wow! She is a real piece of work.. I wasn't buying her crocodile tears.. Regardless this guy was convicted on complete and utter rubbish. There was no evidence unless you wanna go off what they found at an already combed over crime scene. Women are very underestimated and get away with things men never would especially if they have a pretty face. People here got duped big time.

Weezie Tara Crihfield

I can't help think Joan is guilty here but got someone else (maybe a third illegitimate partner?) to assist her in her ploys - I'm not convinced the fella did it, but this case feels unfinished. Thanks for sharing though Mike, a real head scratcher!

LJ

The dog tags were on a chain that was still intact. If he had been in a violent encounter and the chain had been ripped off his neck by a victim, the chain would have been broken and there's a damn good chance the chain would have a victim's blood on it. None of that happened. I have to believe the dog tags were planted after the fact. And the shell casing from his gun is much too easy to plant after the police have searched the area. If I was on the jury, I could not convict him of murder beyond a reasonable doubt.

Christie Scott

Right off the bat I thought the wife did it....... so I presume there must be more evidence against him than comes across in the video? I was expecting him to get off after some evidence came out against her, tbh. So the Jury is still out for me although not literally for him!

Gary Goodman

BTW... I love that no one can reply to the rest of your comments. Good on you 👏👍

Cassi Scheu

@dougie..... is your real name Douglas?? Just wondering because I had a step father named Doug. Do you know what we called him? Dickless Douglas. Seems to me you and he would be best of friends sipping on Bud Light and figuring out the world's problems.... If the content here is a little beyond your scope, cancel your membership or crimp your fingers because you are so beyond butt hurt by what Mike has to say that you are stand up worthy. I come from a town of 1100 people and if Mike said "so, there's not much else to say" I would laugh. He would have hit the nail on the head.

Cassi Scheu

I agree. There is so much doubt.,,how did they find him guilty?? So much for reasonable doubt..it seems to go out of the window in some cases and then there’s cases like Casey Anthony.. you just never know how a jury will vote. Scary.. for those who really are innocent,

Soffity

Not having any experience with US military whatsoever, would it be fair to say the classified information charge alone would have been enough to get him discharged? That's a big breach of trust there. SInce those CDs were in the house, that's another thing Saint Joan the Bigamous could have found, but she didn't. Had she found them, she could have cried off to the Army waving them in her hot little hand. I don't think they were hidden in a safe or in a place difficult to find if a neighbour stumbled on them. Physical abuse - just going by the photo of her son. Not saying it did or didn't happen, but those marks on his back are shallow scratches that disappear over the next few hours. No sign of upcoming bruises, no sign of blood welling from the scratches. Kit spying on the house with his binocs - he could have been looking for signs of Joan, as opposed to trying to freak the family out. But on the other hand, maybe that was his intention. It's not evidence, anyway. The killer getting the bodies into the car - that would be jolly hard to do on your own. A fit Army guy could possibly do it. As much as I would love for Joan to have done it to screw Kit's life up even more, I just can't see her manhandling two heavy, uncooperative weights into the car. If I had so much kerosene the cops could whiff it from the burnt-out car, I would have tried to set the house on fire again. anyway, that's me. Great video - a real whodunnit!

Nikki Ganley

Goforth! was that really the name of one of the police offers or did I not hear correctly? If it is what a great name for a cop.

Soffity

I’m from a small town called wantage it’s a shithole. As soon as I finished high school I moved out to Philadelphia and never looked back. Why are you a subscriber, stop whining it’s his video it’s his opinion no one is forcing you to watch it. Grow the fuck up and move on.

Soma Cruz

I am not convinced of his guilt. It's a head-scratcher for sure. Thanks so much for this video, Mike. Love ya, mean it!

Elizabeth Chancellor

I'm truly sorry for your loss I'll be sending some extra love your way ❤️

Rebecca

Was thinking" how is he saying 'mens rights groups' with a straight face, that's not like Mik... AH there it is :D"

Claire Julie

Lou-A-Vule what’s so hard about that?? 😵‍💫

Halie Gail

Dear Rita, the line has been crossed retreat !!

elaine byrne

What the fuck did you just fucking say about Mike, you little bitch? I'll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I've been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I'm the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You're fucking dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that's just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little ªcleverº comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn't, you didn't, and now you're paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You're fucking dead, kiddo.

Rita Ritz

Wow wasn't expecting so much drama reading the comments. I agree with Kathleen, who cares! Good video Mike, thanks for all your hard work. X

Samantha lee

Made me laugh so hard I was expecting a sorry but yeah go Mike

Jack Graham

This one is a head melter

Jack Graham

Thanks Mike

Jane Pohl

Jeez get a sense of humour ......or stop watching ..2yrs of built up hatred wow !!

Eileen Fothergill

He very well may have committed this crime however the absolute majority of evidence was planted. Ends justify the means? There is one thing I do find suspicious however, why wasn’t the private detective brought in to testify as to what he was told rather than just the voice recording?

ken saint john

You know... I am not 100% convinced that he did it.

Find the Truth

Sending hugs. I lost my big sister last month. Still doesn’t feel real.

Denise Boehm

Hi, Charity! I may be incorrect, but I don't think many juries, at least in the U.S., have that much flexibility with sentencing. There's so many mandatory sentencing guidelines on each state's books, that I think the primary purpose of juries (anymore) is to determine guilt and to what degree. I know they can often make recommendations to the judge, but I don't think they have much say in the final sentencing decision. I highly encourage anyone to (kindly) correct me. I'd rather be factually accurate than "right" any day :)

Laura Jane

Please unsubscribe Dougie… none of us want you here. Apparently you’ve let this anger build up for two years…. Why? Just leave. I’ll add your ( dollar? ) to my patreon amount. You will not be missed. Bra…. I’ve lived in every major city: NYC,L..A., CHICAGO, LONDON and I’ve also lived in small towns in Michigan, Indiana and Oklahoma….and I gotta say…. small towns suck balls and you know for real THERE IS NOTHING TO DO IN THAM. So take your annual trip to your nearby big city and enjoy the symphony and eat something other than chicken fried steak, and then crawl back into your beautiful shithole small town. Just don’t come back here. Happy 4th of July.

Christy Hoehn

Thanks very much for all kind words this is one amazing channel all of you make it so love to all ❤️❤️

Marie McCreadie

Dougie, you make me sad. So much anger and hostility. If you were genuinely upset about this issue, you could have sent him a private message. Rather, you chose to do so publicly, which tells me there's an even greater underlying issue. Who hurt you so badly that you need to lash out and create unnecessary drama? DBT may be something you could really benefit from, given the right therapist. Seek help? Please? Before it's too late? Best wishes :)

Laura Jane

Me too, Dahlia. So sorry for your loss Marie.

Laura Jane

P.S. BEST DETAILED, organized, explanation I’ve heard yet!!! ❤️

Christy Hoehn

Congratulations newlywed!

Laura Jane

Thank you, thank you, thank you Mike! For covering this case!!! I personally think he’s not guilty , but DEFINITELY NOT GUILTY BEYOND REASONABLE DOUBT! I was gobsmacked when that verdict came down and I still am- what’s up with our country? Not enough evidence to hold some of these child killers, but to convict a man with literally NO EVIDENCE?? Yes, our justice system is broken! ( love ya Mike ❤️ )

Christy Hoehn

Haha! No one cares how you say "Louisville" except people from Louisville! Absolutely no one! Good episode, Mike, as always!

Kathleen Morgan

What's up with jury's these days just guilting everyone to life in prison? REASONABLE doubt. Like 95% sure or he walks.

Charity Dunning

Another great episode! I'm so pleased to see your Patreon support continuing to grow. You deserve it and more!

Laura Jane

Very confusing case. I don't know what to think.

Bjarnehall .

I’m usually pro prosecution but not this time! I’m the wife and mom of military service members and I can tell you that they never took off their dog tags ever while they were active duty. I really thought he was going to get off on this. Good one Mike! I have never heard of it before. Have a great week ❤️

Peri Jetton

His videos. His opinion. Who cares? 🙄 You don't have to watch.

Charity Dunning

By the way, do you think creators of youtube & tictok videos are beyond criticism? I've enjoyed Mike's videos albeit he's a bit flippant with some pretty heavy tragic shit sometimes. But people who disparage groups of people with broad brushes need to know they are not immune. Every time he says "what else could I say about this shithole small town?" he's putting down a ton of salt of the earth working class people who are just trying to get on in the world just like him. So what if you're a farmer? Where the fuck do you think food comes from? These self-congratulating , urbane sophisticates need to think again.

dougie

I honestly think that the bigamist ex wife did it and set him up or paid someone. I don’t in a million think he would’ve left his dog tags there yet that is something she could give to someone to leave there to make it look like he did it. I’m not sure she did it but I think she had it done if not. Just my opinion

Clara Lynne Pratt Ryan

Yeah my question to Mike exactly Why all the hostility toward small towns? Such a cliche and reflexive way of thinking. Like I said, I knew I would get some backlash but I've been hearing this thing from him for 2 damn years in practically every video (feels like). I don't pretend Mike needs my $1/month or whatever it is, but it's like get off it. Try to be a bit more creative. You don't NEED to say anything at all about the town apart from the name and location (like he's looking for the equivalent in Ireland perhaps: Snickledidledoo Village, the site of the battle with Viking Lord Smaug over rights to the headwaters of Bannion Creek, and also home to the Greater Dublin Area Fireman's Ball Orchestra). No I ain't butthurt lol. It just gets old on here and it's an ignorant attitude.

dougie

OMG!!! Wow, I finally found the leader of the group on YouTube that gives the thumbs down to Mikes AMAZINGLY produced, thoughtful, relatable, hilariously witty videos. Hey…you suck whoever you are!! Mike, you’re the shit!!! Keep truckin’ along because I speak on behalf of a million or so people when I say I life would be very grim without That Chapter. Much love 💜💜 -Ali

Alexandra Corbo

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dahlia

A shithole IS a shithole & the entire state of Caintuhhhk is a shithole, so how about keep your butthurt to yourself.

Dahlia

I'm so confused. I don't know what to believe. Thanks for another interesting case!

Diana Lindqvist

Thanks for making this boring holiday more interesting, Mike. :)

Dahlia

whoa. the hostility . . . why are you a subscriber if he is so offensive to you?

Celeste Bosco

25:13 Because he's stupid. Did you hear about two of his victims having "a affair"? Guess majors keep up with their dog tags, unless they're frenzied & feverish about committing a triple homicide, eh?

Dahlia

14:54 homey is going out of his way to soil the image of the deceased, and for chrissake, WHO ELSE would be out for their blood? 19:20 His glib attitude (about someone's murder) reminds me of Drew Peterson. Some folks are "certain" they can do anything.

Dahlia

I don’t want to be morbid but my big brother died suddenly on Friday so my heads in the clouds at the moment but got a notification from that chapter and I feel a bit more settled is that bad ? To get pleasure from a true crime upload and not from actual people well we must do what we must do so thanks mike I appreciate you ❤️

Marie McCreadie

Hey Mike, I've held my tongue on this over the last couple years but, idk, something prompted me to comment on this this time. I may get a lot of backlash from your other Patreon fans but like you said about pronouncing Louisville, I don't give a fuck. Here's the long and the short of it: Everytime you mention a small town you have to disparage it - LIke for being a small town - "what else can I say about this shit hole? " type stuff in almost every video it feels like. Well that makes you sound like an ignorant and arrogant twit. I've lived in places like NY and Tokyo and San Francisco as well as several small towns and let me clue you in - no matter where you live basically you make the best of it you moron. There's nothing intrinsically wrong with small towns. Idiots like you like come back with "oh the museums and the symphony", well most small towns are within striking distance of a larger area with all those things. But by the way, um Mike, how many times have YOU been to the symphony or museum this year? And for being further drive from the tall buildings and the, idk, authentic Caribbean restaurant or whatever you have in your head that we miss out on, as a trade off we're close to nature, lakes, wilderness expanses and though your tiny mind and limited experience can't imagine it, there is a LOT to do out in the open like waterskiing, fishing, hiking, camping, nature watching, family stuff and of course just like you whiskey and Guinness guzzlers over in your wee pubs in Ireland, we have drinking establishments just like you do. And in the great big, grown up modern world we all have high speed internet and some of us make little inconsequential youtube & tik tok vids just like you Mike, Wtf why don't you lay off this cliche bullshit about putting down small towns and via implication, all the millions of people world wide who live in them? It gets old since you say it EVERY DAMN TIME.

dougie

Well damn… seems like everyone in this story may be a little guilty of something, but beyond a reasonable doubt? Eh. Either way, your reaction to the ‘Coalition for Men’ 😂 spot on.

PeaceLoveEmily

Thank you so much for an unclear case. I'm honestly not sure if he is truly guilty. Hmm. Any hoo. Thanks Mike.

S. Noelle Melton

Thank so much Mike! I was just scrolling and had nothing to watch. Perfect timing.

Maddison by the Sea

Do I watch now or save for later. Ahhh!!!!
