My mother's family came from there. and she used to DRAG ME THERE (against my will) , far too often. Aside from Jamaica, I've NEVER witnessed a bigger (humans who should ALL be dead) shithole (human demographically, speaking. Thank goodness. I've only survived those two GODAWFUL places , but I'm CERTAIN there are more (like them, that aren't war zones), and hope to god, we can ALL, avoid them, like the plague. Perhaps we never will. But there is something bad enough to murder for it. He also sounds like he's been clinically diagnosed as a psychopath. If so, that explains the lack of empathy needed to do this. I have a brother who is diagnosed as a psychopath and has murdered people. The only places he should be is prison or dead.

She kept it secret. Maybe the family subconsciously ‘knew’ and hated him for it. However, since they were such upstanding members of the community and because they didn’t want to simply ruin Ryan’s life, they didn’t tell anyone. Perhaps once his sister came back, things were especially tense and the family was continuing to resent Ryan and regret ever having adopted him. This resent built up to the point where he figured he might as well get rid of them all and attempt to get the money. It’s a common phenomenon is housed with older brother adoptees (or younger sister adoptees). There is no pheremomal or genetic barrier to prevent the male from forming sexual attraction to the younger female in the house because they are not blood related. Couple that with close proximity, constant opportunity, and the inertia of puberty, such a situation is primed for instances of sexual abuse.
