Mike!!! 🤩😍😎 This is our neck of the woods! Er… so to speak… we are right on the Rogue in Eagle Point, Oregon! But up near Fish Lake.. this is a Folklore Story, but you’ve given details I’ve never heard You Rock! I’m so sorry for this family. So sorry! But it makes for a spooky “new moon nighttime walk” on the ranch! Love you, Mike! Thank you for being so solid and awesome! 🌻💝😊

If you look into the hundreds of cases every year of folks who disappear in state and national parks, it's often claimed when remains are found how remains were in an area that had been searched. It means nothing. People want to imply it means the remains were placed there but in fact it just means searchers and dogs are not infallible. The case of Geraldine Largay is very instructive because tin foil hat people had ascribed all kinds of supernatural forces at work. But when her remains were found in an area searched by professionals and dogs they also found a diary and her camping equipment that made it quite clear she got lost and died in that place. Dogs and rescue/recover teams are not magic. My point is the fact that claims are made that they were "mysteriously" found in a place that had been searched, in fact it means zilch. It means the searchers missed the remains.

Always here first, Amanda. That's the benefit of supporting Mike.

Paige Turner

I'm not sure what you're suggesting. They find bodies and don't report them straight away??

Paige Turner

I feel very sorry for the detective too. One of the good guys who actually cares. No doubt he served the public well only to be haunted by this case at a time when he should be enjoying life. Perhaps if he put pen to paper he could send a msg to those serving now. He has a vital story or is it a warning to share.

Paige Turner

Campfire story, Mike? Um, haha. This truly is a horror story and as usual you treated the victims with respect and didn't glorify any of the horrific details. My favourite true crime channel. Actually my only true crime channel. Sending love n hugs from Aus! Stay safe everyone.

Paige Turner

It just dawned on me, too, that maybe the husband/father was bound to the tree so he had to watch the (who knows what kind of) torture & ultimate killing of his family. Not only that, but what if then he was just left tied to that tree so he'd be forced to relive the horrors he'd witnessed while he starved to death & withered away?

Amy Bellamy

Excellent video mike. Your production is glorious. You work so hard to bring us the best of the best every single time. The interview with the last remaining detective alive was heart breaking. So emotional for the poor guy. I bet that killer was the one who did it. He knew how to play the system. He’d rather go to jail then answer to a polygraph. That says everything. Amazing how many head injuries create a killer. It makes sense though. But what this guy did to others too, is beyond evil.

Thanks Mike

Jane Pohl

Calling bullshit. Many of the state and national parks disappearances claim bodies discovered later in places previously searched.

dougie

Reminds me of the Dardeen family homicides. :(

Big Tom Head

I keep forgetting to see if you post here before your YouTube channel and I miss the video ahead of time every time, now I'm gonna go watch it! Lol

Hello, Mike, and thank you. This one felt very special, I'm not sure why... Following Jared Crooks lead, and being even creepier, if, for example, the killer took the baby, he could have the mother to tie the husband to the tree... And when you said that they didn't discover how the man was killed, I immediatly had a truly gruesome thought: he may have left him to die - of thirst, hunger and the consequences of being tied up and standing (was he standing? Because that's how I pictured it)... And also: didn't anybody suspect the man who said he searched the area? He seems a good candidate, too... Have a great week, Mike. Love you.

Paula Bernardes-Silva

Hey Mike, if a tree falls in the forest of your mind, does it make a sound?

April Hughes

Also, not to be super creepy myself--and I don't think I like that this is what my brain is doing right now--but I think one person could control a family of four if you got to one of the kids first. Threaten the kid, the parents will go along. Again, that's awful, but I can see how he could've pulled it off himself.

Jared Crooks

The cave somehow makes it a million times more creepy...

Jared Crooks

Merci Mike!

Irene Veronica

what a horrific case. you really have to be a Monster to beat a BABY to death. wtf. i hope the family one day gets justice.

F. Sttr

Well that was beyond horrifying. How twisted!! I feel so sorry for thatdetective. He feels so guilty and he shouldnt. Another great one. Thanks Mike. We love ya!

Kimberley McMahan

Agree, it broke my heart to hear him blame himself

Ellyse

I love Ann Rule's books. Thanks for covering this case!

Amber Vigers

I 2nd this comment! Love the new setup!

Alexandra Corbo

LOL Tasha… you and Mike both apparently 😆

Trish

Mike, this was an extra disturbing case.

Diane Hering

I personally like to jam to the Life Insurance music..😂

Tasha Duperron

Never heard of this case! That detective should not feel guilty. Whomever let this man get out of prison after only 10 years the first time is who I think needs to feel guilty! The justice system failed this family by letting a monster free after only ten years.

Tasha Duperron

I'm so impressed! You said Oregon correctly!!! Creepy case. Thanks Mike!

S. Noelle Melton

Speaking of music issues… am I the only one who does the Mike Theme Song dance? Uh … wait … is it wrong to admit this 😳. And who are the 126ers??? Love your music! And the vids are ok too 😎

Trish

Thanks for another great video Mike . Terrible crime . A whole family is murdered and no one was found to be guilty ..

Eileen Fothergill

thanks for a great video.

James Herington

Lovely surprise.

W M

Thanks Mike. Needed this for a manic Monday.

Steve Brown

I very much like how you moved the "That Chapter" from the very beginning to the intro/subject title. I.e: That Chapter: The Cowden Family. It really works!

Deanna D

Gee, the state of Oregon let this guy kill over and over. Wtf?

Evelyn McElroy

Hey you, THERE you are! :) I happily look for you every Monday and Thursday, "Patreon time." Definitely always worth waiting for!

Deanna D

always worth the wait to give it a goo.

cherry davis
