New Patreon Reward: LR Discord
Added 2018-05-11 00:58:10 +0000 UTCHey All,
I'm always poking around at ways to give you value for supporting the show, and Patreon has set up really nice integration with Discord. So I've set that up and it seems to be up and running.
It also seems to just be adding people automatically, which isn't what I wanted it to do, so apologies if it added you and you didn't want that. I will post a link here for any Patrons that didn't get added, and you can use it for if you left, or want to come back as well. I'm also seeing if I can set it to not auto-add people.
Here is the link to join if you want to or couldn't before.
As always with online communities like this, I find it best to let it free and into the wild and if it has wings then it will fly, and if not, that's ok too :)
We'll be setting things up for the next week or so, getting mods in place, proper channels, etc. Feel free to give any feedback you want here or on the Discord itself!
Thanks as always,
Marshall

How do you get the supporter rank on that discord channel?

2018-05-20 21:14:32 +0000 UTC114.1b Aura spells are always targeted. These are the only permanent spells with targets. An Aura’s target is specified by its enchant keyword ability (see rule 702.5, “Enchant”). The target(s) are chosen as the spell is cast; see rule 601.2c. An Aura permanent doesn’t target anything; only the spell is targeted. (An activated or triggered ability of an Aura permanent can also be targeted.)

Of these, ONLY enchantment-aura spells target; i.e., this is the only spell that, on the stack, necessarily needs a target, but never else. So when you flicker, it is not being cast, and therefore the targeting clause doesn't apply, but nevertheless it's requirement of being attached needs to be satisfied, so now you "choose". I guess the relevant rule would be:

2018-05-16 11:59:39 +0000 UTCThanks for the response. I guess I understand that choosing is not the same thing as targeting. What I don't understand is why Clutches targets when it is cast, but provides a choice when flickered with Sentinel. How would I know when cards no longer target? What is the principle at work here that would allow me to apply this idea elsewhere?

2018-05-15 03:48:06 +0000 UTC"If the exiled card is an Aura, that card’s owner chooses what it will enchant as it comes back onto the battlefield. An Aura put onto the battlefield this way doesn’t target anything (so it could be attached to an opponent’s permanent with hexproof, for example), but the Aura’s enchant ability restricts what it can be attached to. If the Aura can’t legally be attached to anything, it remains exiled."

2018-05-15 03:09:59 +0000 UTCI'm confused. On the last show you said that you could use Bolas' Clutches on the big hexproof turtle by blinking it with the Sentinel of the Pearl Trident. I don't understand how this works. The Sentinel just says to "return the legendary Permanent" - why would this get around the 'can't target' rules of hexproof?
