Hey, Marshall - Let Luis know that I loved his sign-off this week. I had played Sushi Go previously with a group of friends who are gamers, but not exactly Spikes, and they don't really draft. I immediately recognized that the game itself was essentially draft, and I immediately set to applying all the tools that I've learned listening to LR. I won every game that we played. The crowning achievement of the evening was when I let the person I was passing to go all-in on dumplings and then cut the supply at the key "payoff" moment. It was the difference in the game and I beat that player by 1 point. Good times. I was delighted when Luis brought the game up.

I realized when watching a couple of draft videos for Amonkhet that I was locking myself into my colors to firmly and too early when I saw how many off color cards the players were drafting. It made me realize that I am frequently not picking the best card but picking the best card for my color too often. This means that I often have cards in my color that do not make my deck and every card that doesn't make my deck could be a different pick. This has really been a leveling up moment for me as I now attempt to always pick the best card even if I have some strong cards in a specific color. My latest draft changed drastically in the second pack as I took a second and third pick green cartouche into a fifth pick hooded brawler. I realized that my secondary color was not very strong and was able to move in on green even picking up an 11th pick Bitterblade. I have been listening for a while but sometimes it takes a lot of repetition to change a stubborn habit. Thanks for the great show.

Thanks guys for doing this one. Great advice on what to do when you are in a valley.
