I was about half an hour behind when listening live, but thank you both for the very comprehensive answer to my (admittedly) vauge question! Marshall, I really liked what you had to add about feeling down comes from comparing yourself to others and that the individual has the power to put that into perspective. Luis, cashing in chips with friends is something I tell my friends all the time to use me but I rarely ask them for help when I am down even though I know they will help me like I help them. Loved the episode

Hey guys, this question is for Luis. My wife and I are expecting our first child next month. Much like you, I already find myself BUSY, juggling freelance writing, bartending, playing music, hosting home cube tournaments… the list goes on! What advice would you give for juggling parenthood with the pursuit of other endeavors? Thank you both for the years of wisdom and entertainment!

Sam Pape

How do you get the beta lands in Magic Arena for limited decks instead of standard issue? I can't find them that far back

Zachary Hoy

How would you go about analysing or summarizing a format like Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate? I understand it may be difficult or unengaging to you if you do not play Commander, but it is a limited draft format, after all.

When smoking a brisket, fat side up, or fat side down?

Christian Pappas

Okay…totally not based on real life experience…Genius or Grifter: In order to make a MtG event on time, had to go to local Kohls to buy clothes because the laundromat at my place was out of commission otherwise would have wore some real garbage clothes. I mean I feel like wearing the stanky clothes would have been grifting on everyone, but maybe it was my wallet that was ultimately grifted?

Cory Enriquez

Hey guys, thanks for the great insights. My question is about leveling up drafting skills. I noticed that as soon as I hit platinum on arena in limited, I started getting stomped in all my games. In your experience have you found there to be an order of skills that progress at different stages of a drafter's experience?

Dan Steinberg

RG seems to have had it pretty rough over the last year: - In SNC, Cabaretti and Riveteers are likely the two worst families - In NEO, RG Modified never really found its legs - In MID, RG Werewolves had it pretty rough The only exception over the last year of Standard sets seems to have been VOW. Do you think there's a common reason behind RG's poor performance lately (e.g. stompy isn't as viable with current design decisions), or did the color pair just get unlucky when it comes to how pushed its mechanics were in the last few sets? Is there something about RG that makes it tricky to balance?

Dr. Ace Manliness

Hey guys. Even though streets wasn't an all timer, do you feel the Limited environment is getting too easy? Back when I started you were lucky to have 23 playable. Nowadays you will have upwards of 27-30. Do you feel this has lessen the skill level of limited players or has it made it better? Thanks for everything y'all do. PS. Y'all should do a top 10 all time mythic uncommons segment some time. Curious to see what y'all think.

David Bruno

Hi guys, with regard to this comic, which tbh has been around quite a while: https://cardboard-crack.com/post/153347382121/marshall-sutcliffe @LSV: Ever used a recording of LR to soothe Santi to sleep? @Marshall: I assume, you appreciate that a lot and at the same time it must have been quite mind-boggling that s.o. dedicated a comic strip to you? All the best to you guys.

Peter Sievert

If you two were to play 100 limited games versus each other, what win percentage do you think you would have? And have you ever been qued up against each other while playing online?

Andrée

Hi from France! More episodes with or without Luis? What’s the biggest things Luis brought to you Marshall and Marshall to you Luis? In magic and in life. Love the work guys.

Hey Marshall and Luis! I know you both love Vintage Cube and have drafted it many times each (hundreds of times? thousands?). I believe you have even said that it is your favorite way to play. With most draft sets there tends to be a point where they lose their luster and become less enjoyable, but this never seems to happen with Vintage Cube, despite the fact that the individual cards in the Cube change relatively little over time. My question is this: what do you think Vintage Cube does that leads to so much re-playability for you? Is there any aspect of this that you think could be applied to set design to make normal drafts more re-playable?

Hello, Marshall and Luis! Thank you as always for the great work. What have been your favorite types of food abroad?

Atipong Pathanasethpong

Hey Marshall & Luis, thanks for the tons of awesome content! Quick question - what is your favorite, or what would your best recommendation for a 2-person draft-like format? Thanks!

Mo

Hi Marshall, I really enjoy listening to your voice, regardless of content. Did you ever consider becoming a voice actor? I think you could read audiobooks really well, maybe for children too. Is that something you would LIKE to do anyway? Thanks for your show, it is a small enrichment of my life. Maik

Hi Marshall, Me and my friend had a discussion recently about avoiding or flashing out counterspells. So imagine a situation where you have this bomb creature in hand and you know your opponent has counterspell. You also have some kind of a dorky creature. Do you play the small creature first hoping to flash out the counterspell or do you play the bomb hoping opponent has a manaleak effect, which you can still pay off? From yours and LSV's experience, what's the correct play? A group of #mtgdads called "Wildsnakes" also sais "hi" (they occupy my basement every Thursday, playing Magic and taking some time of from the kids ;). Thanks for the show and everything you're doing! We much appreciate all your efforts! :) Cheers, Tym

Marshal and Luis. How do you effectively evaluate the different roles cards play in draft vs. sealed. I often view sealed as a slower more pile of cards format where try to value slower cards, card advantage and hard answers to powerful cards. Is this the correct assessment? What role does a curve play in sealed especially later in the format? How do the rules of deck construction and gameplay shift accordingly. Thanks for your time Cheers!

Hello Marshall and LSV! I hope all is well with you both (and Producer Jeff...I enjoy the livestreams of the podcast.) Thank you all for your hard work! I have a couple questions. My first one is something I've been a bit curious about lately...as content creators, I know you depend on sources of income such as Twitch and Patreon, but how do you cover things such as health insurance that traditional employers help cost? My second question is for LSV. Is CR coming back? I really like that podcast and you and BK are great to listen to! And Marshall...if who is a coverage partner that you never got the opportunity to have that you would like to work with? It could be someone who no longer does coverage...or maybe there's someone who currently does coverage that you are looking forward to an opportunity to work with. Thank you for everything!

Loved the episode about analyzing the traits of successful gamblers. You both are very inspirational people. I ask this because as someone who struggles with highs and lows while pursuing happiness I am curious: what is the lowest you have felt and how did you recover? Is there any advice you have for people struggling with low points in their life/career/goals? Thanks and best!

Ben Ferrara

Hey guys! Long time listener, first time asker (unless you count PAX). What’s your go to dinner recipe if you’re on a budget and strapped for time? Thanks for all of the content and helping me level up! 😃 Extra Cliché Question: With Magic turning 30 next year, what moment in those 30 years sticks out to you the most and what are you the most proud of (from the past 30 years)?

Kelsey Ito

Why was 5-color a viable archetype in Khans of Tarkir, but not in SNC? Was it the full cycle of dual lands? Was it just that the format was slower? Was it morph?

Emmett Neyman

Hi Marshall and Luis! Love the show and the chance to participate in these Q&A episodes. My question is for Marshall. Marshall, I believe you said in an earlier episode that you are a fan of Tool. If so, have you ever seen them in concert? Do you have a favorite album of theirs? I'm really looking forward to catching their show again the next time they make it up here to Seattle!
