Comments

The specialize cards are riffs on the Background mechanic in CML2, where mono-color legends can gain an additional color (for Commander color identity purposes) via a legendary Background enchantment. This is useful in CML draft, allowing you to pivot colors without needing to hunt down a new 2-color commander to let you actually get away with this. They also have similar functionality in Historic Brawl in Arena, where you can lock in a specialization during construction to determine your deck's color identity. In trying to retain that feel, they kinda gave Limited (and probably Historic) a bunch of extra work. In retrospect, if they wanted them for Brawl so badly they could have just had them be a craftable thing (you'd only need to spend one Wildcard) and kept the "six-sided cards" out of normal brainspace. Similarly, all of the ridiculous extra text on the WB signpost uncommon is to recreate her paper design, which uses Experience Counters (like Energy but can't be spent) to allow all copies of her — or, more likely, the same copy, if she's your Commander — to benefit from the trigger/pump. It's super clumsy but it does work as intended.
