Nice knowledge! There's also a few clues that Grim went easy on Carlotta - the biggest tell is that he is giving her actual coins. Right now, they're sitting on a lot of loot. While provisions and the like are easy, any merchant goods need to be converted into currency or used as trading items. Carlotta getting money instead shows that Grim did a quick survey of their winnings and then opted to "pay out" Carlotta
