Marshall and Luis, one of the older questions of the QotW (or maybe it was a Q&A question) was what is your favorite creature in Magic, but what about your favorite non-creature spell? Or if that's too broad, what's your favorite instant or sorcery?

2022-01-15 21:13:34 +0000 UTCEach set tends to have a rough power-ranking for the colors. It takes a few weeks to really fine-tune close colors in a set, but there are usually outliers (both best and worst) that are obvious from the first week or two. What color or colors do you feel correspond with the best sets for limited? Put another way, is a set typically better when white, black, or some other color is the best?

2021-10-30 01:44:38 +0000 UTCHey guys, since you talk about biases a lot - I just can't seem to shake the feeling that a card of higher rarity often feels like it should be the better pick than one of lower rarity when weighing, for example, two cards in my colors against each other. I always have to fight the feeling of "Oh, this common is generally better, maybe, but it will probably show up again, while this uncommon will probably not." How do you navigate these conflicting feelings?

2021-10-27 09:22:52 +0000 UTCHey guys, love the show!! Curious about the impact of ways to rummage / loot on splashing. Sometimes I feel like I can get away with fewer mana sources to splash a card if I have some ways to rummage it when it's uncastable. Do you ever do this or even (gasp) mentally count some number of rummages as a source for the splash? Thanks for all the great content.

2021-10-25 02:20:45 +0000 UTCHi Marshal. On your show you make a point of passing on good values and lessons that apply to contexts wider than magic itself. This is something I am very fond of and I'd like to ask you a question in this spirit. In context of your new sponsor FTX I am curious about your thoughts on the environment impact of crypto technologies and how it impacted your decisions around the sponsorship.

2021-10-23 14:54:06 +0000 UTCI liked the conversation Marshall and Ryan had about finding people you can trust to give you honest feedback. Could you give us some advice on how to be somebody that others can trust, and how to give feedback that people can use in that way?

2021-10-23 14:21:03 +0000 UTCMany of us are caught up in the everyday time squeeze. In recent years I find that while I’m consistently consuming magic content on YouTube and twitch, I quite often skip a set or three in succession because I just can’t find the time to do even one draft on Arena. Do you have any advice on how I could get some play from every set given my limited (time) resources ?

2021-10-23 09:56:50 +0000 UTCHey Marshall! Do you have advice on how to deal with mana screws/floods, or how to minimize the chances of them happening in the first place? Love the show! I started listening to it recently, and I totally feel my skills have improved, so thanks a lot!

2021-10-23 08:12:30 +0000 UTCHi, Marshall! Please give my regards to the proud Papa, LSV! I know that it's a really small sample size, and he's pretty good at Magic: the Gathering, but what do you make of BK's limited success? I worry that I'm over-analyzing to the point that I'd be better off just sticking to what I know about the game and putting good cards together. Do we go so far into theory that we miss the obvious?

2021-10-23 01:35:58 +0000 UTCHey LR team! Love the show as always…it is a must watch and required reading even with a 16 hour a day job on a cruise ship! My question is inspired by the return of MtG events with the Las Vegas 25k. Other than the limited main event, what is your favorite things to do at events like GPs? Do you have any fun stories like gambling for $100 dollars on coin flips outside of karaoke bars after scrubbing out…which totally did not happen to me…love the show!

2021-10-22 23:53:40 +0000 UTCI've recently had some success on decks with multiples of Component Collector and cheap spells (larder zombie + crawl from the cellar + silver bolt + typical 2x UB drops). Have you seen the same or is this an anomaly based on my small sample size?

2021-10-22 23:12:12 +0000 UTCI'm have been really put off by AFR and MID. I much prefer formats like ZNR, KHM or STX where even the worst color has at least one truly viable archetype. What's your take?

2021-10-22 23:06:11 +0000 UTCHey Marshall. Feel free to skip this one as it's a bit personal, but I've been skating the edge of burnout with my job for several months and I would like to hear your perspective on coping with it since I know you've gone through some of the same. I'm hoping to make a career change soon but in the meantime I could use a few words of encouragement. Thanks for being a real one and delivering one of my favorite escapes.

2021-10-22 22:59:42 +0000 UTCWell, it's been a year and half of the pandemic, what are your current thoughts about the future of magic? Is it a paper game that's trending digital or will paper magic bounce back but we still need to ride it out a little longer?

2021-10-22 22:58:18 +0000 UTCBoth Midnight Hunt and Kaldheim limited offered unusually strong depth and complexity. How was Midnight Hunt able to achieve this longevity without the word count of Kaldheim? Do we want another high text set or should Wizards focus on the lessons learned from Midnight Hunt?

2021-10-22 22:58:12 +0000 UTCHey guys, one of my favorite draft archetypes I remember was Infect in Scars of Mirrodin. I really liked the „all in or nothing“-aspect of the deck, where you had to put all your eggs in one basket, or otherwise your deck would fail. We just recently had something similar with Snow in Kaldheim. My question is, what are your thoughts on those kind of decks? Do you enjoy the risk that comes with them or are they bad for the particular formats? Love your content, greetings from Germany!

2021-10-22 22:36:16 +0000 UTCI recently watched all of the mtg breakdown and wristwatch revival videos (amazing work by the way) and it has been brought up several times the multitude of different hats LSV wears between eternal, storybook brawl, streaming, marketing, pro magic player, multiple resource based podcast host, etc. I was wondering if each of you could give a complete list of all the different titles / roles you presently hold (I just realized I didn't even mention coverage)

2021-10-22 22:15:45 +0000 UTCDear Marshall, I picked up the game about a year before the pandemic when my daughter was given a starter deck. I got hooked and I've been drafting like a maniac since, and LR has not only been a big part of improving my game, but also giving me the language and confidence to enter into the larger MTG community. So THANK YOU! I've booked my tickets for MTG Las Vegas, my first non LGS/ non casual event. My question is: how does limited play look different at a big tournament and what should I do to prepare (i.e. so as not to make a fool of myself!)? Are there procedures or faux pas I should be aware of? (rules enforcement, deck registration, etc).

2021-10-22 22:12:07 +0000 UTCHow do you decide what balance of basic lands to put in your deck post-draft? I find I usually don't have a hard time figuring out how to work in a splash color when necessary, but I'm at a loss for how to split up mana balance between my two primary colors. When is it correct to be 10-7 or 11-6? How do things like your curve, the ratio of mono colored cards, and the number of cards with multiple pips of a single color factor into it?

2021-10-22 22:09:16 +0000 UTCNot that Matt Sperling. MID is probably the most game skill testing format I've played, and I feel like I'm leaving a lot on the table in terms of multiple turn lines. Do you have any tips for how to plan winning lines when the board states start getting complex?

2021-10-22 22:06:28 +0000 UTCHi Marshal, Hi Louis, Long-time player here, LR listener since I returned to Magic right before Zendikar, and brand new Patreon Person. Love the podcast! I started playing when The Dark was out... So 1994 or so. I played steadily for most of those years, first in an über-casual multi-player environment, then on Magic Online. Took some breaks, as many of us do. Before I get to my question, I should tell you this. Up until I recently returned to Magic, I had never played a draft. When I did start drafting, I found something very surprising: even though I had been playing for a few decades and had only been drafting for a few days, I really believe that at that point I was a better drafter than a player. You guys get credit for that. In draft, I was -- because I had been listening to LR -- starting with a firm grounding in theory, without the legacy of decades of casual play that built bad habits. Which leads into my question... At this point, I feel I'm firm on draft theory (or at least getting there), and have a good grasp of the rules, and I have a rep with my two sons (one a master Magic tactician and the other a mad genius deck builder) for pulling wicked interactive plays out of my ass (you can say that in the podcast, right?) But I have bad habits! I probably have lots of bad habits, but this is the one I want to ask about today: on Arena, I lose too many games because of sloppy use of the interface... forgetting to click on ability at the end of the opponent's turn, or clicking on the wrong thing with a card that has multiple abilities, of various forms of double-clicking or fast clicking. I tell myself I'm not going to do that... but then I do. Do you have any suggestions on how I can start to address this basic character flaw? Thanks, BradGad

2021-10-22 22:05:36 +0000 UTCWhen is the best time to draft a mono-color deck? I tend to draft two colors or more and wonder about this from time to time. Keep up the great work.

2021-10-22 22:04:54 +0000 UTCWith paper Magic coming back in a big way, how would you most like to see WotC supporting play in person? Would you like to see more effort into casual play like FNM, or would you prefer to see big events make a comeback? On a related note, if larger events were to make a return where would you most like to visit? Do you have a personal favourite country for Magic fans?

2021-10-22 21:59:51 +0000 UTCMarshall, you have a deep sexy radio voice. How much do you think this has helped your career as a broadcaster and content creator?

2021-10-22 21:58:55 +0000 UTCWhat is a good way to evaluate cards for synergy? Often I struggle with how to evaluate cards when they synergize with other and often find myself picking more straight forward cards early in a format (efficient creatures/ cheap interaction) what should one look for when evaluating the card quality of synergistic cards? Man of war Forever Thanks Ryan

2021-10-22 21:45:42 +0000 UTCFirst off, love all you guys' content over the years been your content and coverage since before high school and now I'm out of college. I think this is a reframe of an older question, but might be a fun update. You have the Celestus on the board, with the trigger on the stack; you have no cards in hand but you have memory deluge, etc in the deck. Do you draw just to discard whatever you draw? I'm loving the celestus but this is a feels bad situation if I bin a non-flashback bomb.

2021-10-22 21:43:52 +0000 UTCMarshall, if you were to be a commentator for a sport or game other than magic, what would it be? Also, would you take the color commentary perspective of the audience or the expert?

2021-10-22 21:43:21 +0000 UTCDear Resources Most Limited, I often find myself experiencing two significant forms of anxiety when playing *any* Magic: anxiety over letting my opponent have a single turn more, and anxiety over discard/mill. For the first, I'm convinced my opponent is going to draw the bomb/removal they need to dig themselves out of a losing position if I don't end the game immediately. For the second, I can't shake the sensation that I'm throwing away cards I might need later, or milling away my best stuff. How do you set aside the nerves to make the patient, correct play?
Spencer St. James
2021-10-22 21:42:58 +0000 UTCThis isn't specific to Limited but, do you think WoTC intends to support MTG Arena for many years to come? Would it ever eventually replace MTGO or will it just taper off support and go the way of Magic Duels? It often feels unclear what their future plans are for Magic digital (and organized play... etc.) Thanks, love the show-

2021-10-22 21:42:11 +0000 UTCIn Constructed, to get better at playing certain archetypes or styles of play, you're able to practice the same deck over and over again. But with all the variance in Limited and in the case of Arena, the amount of games you play being tied to your wins, how do you recommend a player improve their gameplay skills with an archetype with a play pattern outside their comfort zone? For example, I'm not good at playing U/R spells in Midnight Hunt, how do I get better at playing it if the deck is not always open?
