I have a question regarding sportsmanship in MTG, specifically in Arena. I had an instance in a game where it looked like I was about to lose. There was more going on with the board, but basically - my opponent was attacking with a Stonecoil serpant (protection from multicolored), which would have taken my life to -2. I had a (multicolored) Lurrus of the Dream Den on the battlefield as my only blocker for that creature. My opponent attacked, and then said “OOPS”, which I took to mean “That was stupid – you cannot block and now will lose the game.” I used my one open land (Phyrexian Tower) to sac my Lurrus and eat a food keeping me alive by 1 point. When it was my turn, I played a massive Meathook Massacre to wipe his board and give me a large advantage with my cat oven deck. I said “Oops” Then “Good Game.” My opponent immediately conceded afterwards. I just couldn’t help myself get that jab in at the end, when I would normally not want to be that kind of person. What would you all have done in this situation?

2021-12-15 23:04:50 +0000 UTCCan you tell us your opinions on what hands to mulligan? You’ve mentioned how in recent sets you never run out of things to use mana on. Does this mean we should mulligan more? Thanks.

2021-12-15 20:16:59 +0000 UTCQuestion for the both of you: what card, mechanic, and/or set design in recent years surprised you the most, positive or negative? That can be competitive viability, design innovation, public reaction, etc.

2021-12-15 20:04:42 +0000 UTCSo we all know that you two, and many other high-level magic players, love playing basketball. So, what style of game do you play? Can we get a full scouting report on the whole MTG/pickup basketball crew? NBA player comps where appropriate?

2021-12-15 19:47:04 +0000 UTCHey, Marshall and Luis - I'd love to hear you talk about the decisions that go into making cuts for a particular archetype when you have an excess of playables, as is so often the case these days. I had a great control deck for the Arena Open, but when it came to making cuts, I found myself struggling to choose between good options. What factors do you take into consideration when choosing between bounce, tap/freeze, and counter spells? Do you play more pure draw spells or cantriping spells? If you've got an aggro deck, do you play three of the same combat trick, or three different one-of's. Do you go all in on one kind of effect or try to have a little of everything? Thanks, as always - love the show!

2021-12-15 17:52:50 +0000 UTCHey guys, I am just curious how both of you generally feel about the future of magic. With changes to professional play, alchemy, secret lairs and everything in between, it’s safe to say the face of magic has changed dramatically in a short time. Your perspective is much larger than my own so I’m curious what you think, thanks!

2021-12-15 17:35:56 +0000 UTCHi Marshall and Luis! My question is about how you decide to add a new project to your lives. For Marshall, I've been super impressed by the Wristwatch Revival videos and I was wondering what made you decide to take the leap into another content outlet when you already have a lot going on. For Luis, I was wondering what factored into the decision to join the Storybook Brawl team so early in its lifespan when you are already making tons of Magic content. I'm super impressed by all of the work you guys do, it is always a ton of fun and the best quality, so I'm just wondering how you make these decisions about where to apply yourselves. In a related vein, how do you draw the line between activities you enjoy doing for fun and what you decide to make content on?

2021-12-15 16:19:29 +0000 UTCPer your past advice, I've gotten religion on prioritizing 2drops. Another question I have, is there a maximum I should consider for removal spells in a draft and or minimum for creatures? It may be "results oriented" bias, but I feel like I am getting run over in Vow (which doesn't seem overly aggro oriented). Being able to get multiple late bleed drys and heroes downfalls seems too good to pass up, but I then get completely smashed by what I'd think are mediocre creatures (Estwald SBs, Unholy Offs, Daybreak Combs and/or insert green common). If I don't use the removal on these meh creatures I lose quickly, and if I do use it - I trade down on mana (1for1) and get smacked by the Ravenous Lindwolf or their bomb. Am I somehow overrating removal and (still) undervaluing low curve board presence? Should I peg a minimum number of creatures (rule of thumb) so I don't get a hand full of spells and nothing for the board in the early turns?

2021-12-15 16:17:57 +0000 UTCGreetings gentleman. Tracking some of the recent additions to LR, I am really digging some of the Extra Entertainment stuff that seems to be popping up around the edges of the cast (guests like Sierkovitz and the LR/ LOL Showdowns). This question maybe hinting at the future but 1) is there an unexplored content creation space that you would love for LR to dip your toe into and 2) besides being part of the CFB family, is there a way to submit a formal request to take on the LR time in a 3v3 draft situation with other limited content creators? Would the request on a fine bit of parchment suffice? :p As always, appreciate you letting the audience pick your brains for an hour each week.

2021-12-15 14:15:21 +0000 UTCI used to never drink coffee, it just bores me as a hot drink. Some time ago I tried cold-brewed coffee as per your advice, loved it and never looked back. Any new recommendations for drinks?

2021-12-15 14:07:22 +0000 UTCWhat are your hopes for 2022? Magic and non-Magic? Thanks for everything guys, we appreciate you!

2021-12-15 13:47:23 +0000 UTCWhat’s your thoughts on something like Double Feature, from an “I do/don’t like drafting these” point of view? Say compared to something curated like Time Spiral Remastered or the Arena releases of Amonket and Kaladesh?

2021-12-15 12:34:50 +0000 UTCAny tips for how to make better decisions when scrying? It’s easy when you’re looking for either land or non-land, but I find myself when I’m at four or five lands falling to the heuristic that anything that’s not a land I should keep on top since if I bottom it chances are I’m pitching a spell and will be drawing a land next or a lot sooner.

2021-12-15 12:13:44 +0000 UTCHi MarshalLSV! I am curious what you think about the fact that there are two competitive Bo3 events on Arena (Open day 2, and now the mythic invitational qualifier this weekend) when Bo3 is otherwise not well supported on arena. For example I’m personally having trouble getting much out of the Traditional queues - the lack of ranking being a fairly big issue. How can I get practice on Bo3- sideboarding and generally the differences of Bo3 decks? Is my best option to redownload MTGO after i blissfully said goodbye to it years ago? How do you handle this, if at all?

2021-12-15 12:11:06 +0000 UTCHi chaps! Sometimes when I'm watching movies, TV, or listening to music, I'll find something that I know is really bad but I can't help but love it. Are there any cards or sets that you think are bad, but that you really love playing anyway for some reason?
Rob
2021-12-15 11:45:31 +0000 UTCHi there both of you! Here's more of a personal question for you two. If you could choose to double the enjoyment you get from one thing in life, what would you choose? Magic, food or something else?

2021-12-15 10:46:53 +0000 UTCHey Marshall and LSV. With the future of professional magic still up in the air, are there any other games you've considered casting/competing in? Obviously LSV already has his dev work with storybook brawl (fantastic game btw)

2021-12-15 10:39:03 +0000 UTCHi Marshall & LSV! long time listener, first time caller, here. I've gotten really into team drafting this year, inspired largely by your showdowns for each set, and even got a team draft league started here in Los Angeles. I'd love to hear the biggest lessons you've learned about team draft specifically or any heuristics that apply differently to that format. Do you find it useful to discuss or strategize with your teammates pre-draft? in VOW specifically, do you expect team draft to favor the grindier, value decks or is it better to just curve out with decent creatures and be aggressive? thanks as always for the great pod and everything you both do for the limited community. --ONLY IF YOU WANT to share, you can let people know they can get info on the league, see results, and, if they're in the LA area, find out how to join next season @teamdraftla

2021-12-15 09:20:40 +0000 UTCDear Marshall and/or Luis, At the recent Vegas tournament, I opened what I thought was a sweeeeeet pool for such a bomb-y format. Definitely in white, but had a hard time deciding on the second color. My question is not if I made the right choice, but how to *know* if I made the right choice. I didn't make day 2 and I have had an impossible time knowing how much of it was bad luck, bad deckbuilding, or bad play. It's obviously some portion of the three, but as far as *I* know, I did everything that I could correctly based off the info I had from your advice and my own grinding the week before. How do you identify mistakes when you don't have perfect information, and how do you know when you're talking yourself into the wrong choice? Thank you both for all you do, I wouldn't have this hobby if not for you and LoadingReadyRun.

2021-12-15 09:13:45 +0000 UTCHi, Marshall and Luis. Thank you for all that you do Magic related. Now that paper magic is slowly returning, I was wondering if you have any preferences when it comes to shuffling sleeved decks. Pile shuffle, riffle shuffle, overhand, etc… my friends and I get together for bi-weekly sealed games and sometimes I fell I don’t always draw the best starting hands because I haven’t done a good enough job shuffling. What do you recommend to avoid this from happening in the future? Thanks again keep up the amazing content.

2021-12-15 08:57:41 +0000 UTCIs there also an argument for this? How much of a bump does Angelic Quartermaster get because white doesn't have good top-end in the common slot?

2021-12-15 08:00:31 +0000 UTCHey guys! I hope you are doing well. These are my favorite episodes! I've been reflecting on how much this game has given me, all my best friends play and I have made so many connections through it. Who are some of your closest relationship you have made through the game and when have they been there for you in a big way in a non-Magic way? Love you guys and I hope you and your families have a wonderful Christmas season!

2021-12-15 07:54:51 +0000 UTCWhen drafting, I often let myself get sidetracked by rarity, i.e. "this common might be better, but the chances are so much smaller that this slightly worse uncommon is going to show up again". Do you have any tips on how to avoid this mental trap? All the best for you both, thanks for keeping me company!
