Wednesday's WIP #66 - Script to Comic

Hi!

I realized I haven't done this in a while, so below you will see the script for #227 - Such a cruel fate. This is the script Elena gets (I actually run a wiki to administer the whole thing) and she then does the layout. 

I check the layout, ask for changes if necessary (sometimes happens), then she does lineart (again letting me check - changes in lineart are already more difficult) and finally she shades it.

Elena started putting bubbles in the layout, which helps with checking the space for lettering. It helps me to put the speech into the panels without distorting the art too much.

Then Elena's work is done and she sends them to me and I letter the strips. I put it on our shared space and she has a once over of the finished product. Sometimes there's discrepencies between the text in the script and the final, lettered product, either because it's too lengthy, the bubbles get in the way too much or I just think of something else that seems better.

Finally, I put the logo on top, text underneath (for social) and also do a cut version for panel view.

Paoline and Bahia talk and bond

CHARACTERS

PANEL 1

Paoline is shoved into Bahia's cabin, wearing shackles and looking scared, her dress in tatters. Bahia is smiling and she is wearing Carlotta's dress, presenting herself a bit, filling it out well (considering her breasts are bigger than Carlotta's).

PIRATE (off-panel): "Here she is, captain!"

BAHIA: "Excellent!"

BAHIA: "At least the raid was a success."

BAHIA: "I even dressed for the occasion!"

PANEL 2

Bahia is standing in front of Paoline, with a finger under Paoline's chin to hold it up and leaning in to her. Paoline's eyes are on Bahia's body (specifically the dress), though and she is very shocked/upset.

BAHIA: "I'm going to give you a choice, girl."

BAHIA: "We can either spend the next ..."

PAOLINE: "Wait! That dress! It's Carlotta's!"

PAOLINE: "What have you done to her?"

PANEL 3

Bahia is looking astonished at Paoline, who tries to carry herself proudly, despite her nervousness as she assumes Bahia has killed Carlotta.

BAHIA: "You know her?"

PAOLINE: "I love her!"

PAOLINE: "Whatever cruel fate you have bestowed upon her, it shall be mine as well!"

BAHIA: "Huh. About that."

PANEL 4

Paoline and Bahia are sitting/lying naked on the bed (they apparently already had sex, a bit sweaty). Bahia is just refilling a mug Paoline is holding in her hand.

PAOLINE: "And then she walked out on me while I was sleeping!"

BAHIA: "No way! She did the same to me!“

BAHIA: "Another round?“

PAOLINE: "Sex or drink?“

BAHIA: "Either?“

PAOLINE: "Both."
