Special Q&A Episode Questions :)

Luis is out of town this week but Marshall has an idea for a solo Q&A Episode!

Here's the idea: All of the questions should be about Luis or Marshall, and Marshall will do his best to answer them! Obviously the questions about Marshall will be easy, but if you've ever wondered about any stories about Luis, how Marshall and him met, etc, ask away and Marshall will do his best to answer them.

Of course if you do have another question feel free to fire away as well :)

Thank you as always!

Hi guys, long time listener since Mark Rosewater name checked LR on a very long episode of Drive to Work “man this is getting to be an episode of Limited Resources…”. Marshall- if you could be shorter, would you? I’m 6’2 and everyone assumes it’s all fun and reaching things on high shelves, but then you get on a plane…. Thanks for all the work and dedication you bring to the game.

Marshall and Luis, Thanks for the great content each week. I've got a Genius or Grifter for you: My opponent is on 9 life with Dueling Grounds and Icy Manipulator. I control Sun Titan and Grave Titan with Lightning Bolt in hand and a Mountain in my graveyard. It's my precombat main phase. An attack with Sun Titan would be lethal, so I immediately turn Grave Titan sideways and say "attack you, trigger—" My opponent interrupts and says "Wait, before combat I tap down Grave Titan." I say okay fine, in that case I attack you with Sun Titan, trigger, bring back the land, 6 damage, bolt you, 3 more damage, you're dead. Baiting the Icy onto the non-lethal threat: Genius or Grifter? p.s. I'll admit, I legitimately don't know how this works in a tournament setting. Does shortcutting straight to the declare attackers step to show your intent to attack with a certain creature lock you into that attack declaration? Does the opponent rewinding that shortcut and doing something to affect the board state mean you get to then advance to declare attackers and change from the original attack? If the above situation is actually a rules violation, then maybe just replace the "fake" attack declaration with me saying something like "Dueling grounds won't stop my zombies!" before moving to combat. The bait situation still applies, so genius or grifter in that case? Looking forward to the next episode, Kyle

if Luis had never heard of Magic and became a chef instead, what would his restaurant be called? what would be the signature dish?

Alex Elliott-Funk

Hey Marshall! How has your development as a Magic player influenced your watch-repair craftsmanship?

Matt Schneeweiss

Hey Marshall, what is Luis's biggest leak as a drafter?

Todd Johnson

Hey Marshall. This Q&A episode is such a sweet idea! What do you look for in a broadcast partner? Who are some of your favorite announcers outside of Magic? I personally enjoy Al Michaels, Chris Collinsworth, Joe Buck, Verne Lundquist, Kirk Herbstreit, and Rick Jeanneret who was the Buffalo Sabres play by play guy for 51 years! Thank you guys for all your hard work! I greatly appreciate you and LSV and this podcast community!

This question is for Marshall. I was wondering where you developed such amazing cinematographer skills for your watchmaking channel. I know you’ve been making Draft videos and things like that for years, but the amazing zooms and cuts and pretty much movie-like experience you create for your watch channel blows me away every time. It feels significantly different from an MTG video, so I’m curious where and how you developed those skills. Thanks again for all you do!

Hey Marshall! I love the interview episodes both you and Luis have done for each other. Is there anyone else you would like to do this for when normal episodes or a format slows down? Gabi? Bk? Love the show best and thanks! Ben

Hey Marshall, I just had my first child, a daughter, Lily. The truth is, I really want her to like Magic. I’m afraid I’ll push it too hard, though. So, I was wondering, first, what strategy you would use, Marshall, for exposing your kid to magic? Not necessarily teaching them rules as much as a love for it. I’d also be curious to hear what you think Luis might have to say on the topic.

Hi Marshall, first thank you for your work, this show, your commentary, and also for the watch channel. I've never been into watches, and I find the videos fascinating. I also want to thank you for being a full human being on this show in particular. I've recently taken a few lumps between some health issues as I've gotten older and some challenges at work. When you find yourself slipping into a negative space, who do you lean on the most, or who steps into support you whether you asked or not? To put it another way, who are you grateful to have in your life? How do you think Luis would answer this?

This question is for Luis (Marshall). What are you truly more hungry for: a proper California Burrito or getting your likeness on MtG card? Does it vary on the day and quality of the current limited format? Side challenge: Marshall - design you two as build around uncommons from your favorite MtG planes. Have fun with this rambling question and my hats off to you both for always raising the bar on limited content.

If Wizards approached both of you to schedule your own month of throwback drafts on Arena and/or MTGO, one set per week for four weeks meaning four total, what would be your ideal lineup? Assume since you have either client you can do any cube or set that has been released, but you can only choose one draft format per week (so no Vintage Cube for four straight weeks).

Hi Marshall - how do you think your life has turned out so far? Another way to ask the question - What’s one thing you’re most grateful for in your life and what’s one thing you’re working on or disappointed about? I admire your ability and willingness to adapt to change and to pursue passions - poker, then podcasting, now watchmaking - but I imagine that pivoting so much in your life has caused you to reflect on your life journey. If so, I’m curious about what you think about that journey. Thanks!

Hello, Marshall and Luis. What are the qualities you most appreciate in each other?

Atipong Pathanasethpong

What is your favorite Tool song? What would Luis’s favorite Tool song be? Also, if he were a fan, would Luis’s Lateralus listening order be album order, spiral order, or shuffle like a monster?

Andrew

Guten abend Marshall. I’ve managed to miss if you’ve previously told the story of how you learned German. Can you tell it again? My family was posted to West Germany in the 80s so I learned a bunch but have lost most of it.

Ryan

The classic job interview question - where do you see yourself in 5 years? What about 10?

Justin Waddell

Hey Marshall! What is the coolest experience you and Luis have ever shared as friends?

Rob

Marshall - I know you're a basketball guy, but are you going to watch/follow/be a fan of the Seattle Kraken? Having an NHL team in your backyard now HAS TO BE BETTER than a NBA team right? As always, love the show and keep up the good work!

If you had to rate your Happiness from 1-10 what number would you chose and what do you think you would have to do to get to a higher number in the future?
