I just listened to the show, and in addition to their comments, I would suggest to watch SaffronOlive’s MTGO primer. That was a big help when I got started during pandemic, and he has updated the video at least once. In terms of playing Cube, you get 50 tickets per win (plus a little bonus prize for a 3-0 trophy), so you’re infinite as long as you average 2-1 without going on too much of a losing streak.

2024-01-13 18:01:12 +0000 UTCHey, Gentlemen! I have one for Luis. As a fellow dad, I am constantly hurting for time and sleep. Other than striving for efficiency, how do you balance your own needs and wants with dadding and with every other obligation?

2024-01-13 07:42:07 +0000 UTCWhen going into a draft "blind" (or chaos draft), what colors/game strategies do you prefer. I personally tend towards mono green beatdown or U/W fliers, but I'm curious what you guys like.

2024-01-12 20:51:28 +0000 UTCHey guys, cheers to my favorite parasocial relationship! One aspect of MTG that has always fascinated me is how the community often talks about gameplay with the assumption that there is a single objectively correct line of play. In contrast, one of my other favorite hobbies is Fighting Games (ex. Street Fighter), in which relying too heavily on "correct" gameplay patterns can cause you to become too predictable and lose. As a result, while I recognize that both require learning basic skills and heuristics, at a competitive level I end up approaching the two genres very differently when attempting to analyze my gameplay. My question is, does there come a point in learning MTG where the mindset of a singular correct line of play becomes flawed? Big thanks to you both, always appreciate the content!

2024-01-12 16:02:37 +0000 UTCMore broken deck: 1 Pack Rat and 39 swamps or 24 Preening Champions and 16 islands?

2024-01-12 15:57:43 +0000 UTCWhat advice would you give to a cube builder?

2024-01-12 13:23:15 +0000 UTCHi Marshall! What happened to the 'MTG Breakdown'? Are the interviews archived and available anywhere? I would really like to watch them if it's possible. Thanks and keep up the great work!

2024-01-12 04:51:18 +0000 UTCHey guys. I love limited magic, but I’m just ok. My 9 year old son has learned everything he can from me, but I want to help support him in getting better (if he wants that). He wins our home drafts, and even went 3-0 at the LGS one time. Any tips to help a kid access resources to take the next step as a magic player?

2024-01-11 23:24:26 +0000 UTCWhen is the vintage cube version of team resources vs team lords coming?? I hear Ben and Ethan have been jamming it lately…

2024-01-11 23:05:26 +0000 UTCHey Luis! I have loved the team drafts that you have been posting. I have a question around team draft strategy. There have been places where you have opened 2 comparable pieces of power (2 moxen etc) as well as key card for your deck (such as Reanimate in reanimator). Would you consider passing both and taking the card specifically for your deck knowing your teammate will get a piece of power if you felt like it didn't particularly boost your strategy?

2024-01-11 22:41:25 +0000 UTCI noticed Arena did not offer a decathlon event this holiday season. I enjoy the challenge each individual event offers trying to Q for the final event. What are your thoughts on events like these? Do you think offering an event such as a decathlon provides new territory for digital magic to explore? Or is it a more casual engagement for players? Where does such an event fit in the magic ecosystem between premier drafts, constructed queues, arena opens, and Cube(all forms)? Lastly, did either of you miss it being offered?

2024-01-11 22:33:37 +0000 UTCI've really enjoyed your episodes discussing old Magic sets. As someone who started playing around Revised, stopped after Fallen Empires, and didn't come back until 2018 its been cool catching up on everything that I missed. I've similarly enjoyed the Resleevables and have been wondering when they will catch up to LR. Any chance for a crossover episode your podcasts cover the same set?

2024-01-11 22:30:33 +0000 UTCHello. Hope you both had a great Christmas and New year. With the introduction of play boosters meaning there will be less common slots in a pack do you think that will lead to less versatile commons? As draft archetypes will need to work so there will be less 'chaff' potentially?

2024-01-11 22:29:10 +0000 UTCHNY Gents! Thank you as always for being there for all of us listeners each and every week. LR is a must listen every week no matter how much is going on or not. Somehow you guys have found the right recipe of serious limited mtg and total nonsense.

2024-01-11 22:24:51 +0000 UTCHow do you teach people to play Magic? Whenever I teach someone I never know where to start. I find there are so many critical rules that depend on each other. For example, do you teach mana cost, when you can cast spells, what lands do, or life totals first? How do you decide what is most important to teach someone first, and how do you avoid going down rabbit holes and explaining things that a new player really doesn't need to know?

2024-01-11 22:08:41 +0000 UTCAs a mostly Arena player, who only dusts of MTGO for cubes, I'm wondering what you two think Arena needs to have truly great cube. Hypothetical, the people in charge of Arena come to you and ask you to give them a list of 50 cards (say 10-15 can be very complex) that they will implement in order to get over the line and push it to be competitive with the MTGO Vintage cube. Power is already implemented so you get that for free, if you want it that is. What else (cards and archetypes) are your biggest priorities?

2024-01-11 22:04:45 +0000 UTCFor Luis: What are the top 3 most memorable matches you've had during your pro MTG career?

2024-01-11 22:01:07 +0000 UTCHi guys, hypothetical question here. If R&D had truly unlimited resources, how many main sets would you like to see them put out every year? New sets are fun and novel, but if there was a new one every week there'd be no time to actual master anything. What do you think the ideal number would be?

2024-01-11 22:00:52 +0000 UTCFor Marshall: What are the top 3 most memorable guests or interviews you've had during your career on coverage?

2024-01-11 22:00:26 +0000 UTCHi guys, I'm an experienced player on Magic Arena that can, as Ryan Spain would say, consistently "go infinite" with gems and gold. However, I have never played on Magic Online. Watching Luis draft vintage cube and listening to you guys talk about it is really tempting me to finally give Magic Online a try. While I'm confident I could manage the interface issues and playing "Excel" magic, I have no idea how the Magic Online economy works and how much it would realistically cost me to start playing Vintage cube, especially considering what appears to be the somewhat steep learning curve it has. Could you guys explain how the Magic Online economy works and address how long you think it would take for someone like me to get to a point where they weren't just giving their opponents free wins?

2024-01-11 21:53:35 +0000 UTCAfter hearing about the hype from LSV and other content creators, I've been getting into cube lately and been loving looking at all the old card frames of cards that I didnt realise were that old. I've only been actively playing since 2019 but have always loved mtg art and design and wanted to know if you prefer more modern designs or older card frames? any specific sets that really left an impresion design wise? also love your podcast and its really made me apreciate limited as a format, thx u guys!

2024-01-11 21:51:32 +0000 UTCHello Marshall and Luis! I trust that you are doing well and that you had a great holiday season. I hope your families are doing well. Marshall, how is your mom doing? Congratulations on the Ultimate Guard sponsorship! Does this mean that we will be getting LR sleeves at some point. I bought mine years ago and use them in all my limited events, so they're getting a bit worn out! Marshall, I really, really enjoyed your conversation with James on Humans of Magic. It was such a delight to listen to, you guys seem to connect really well. It would be cool if you could get him on LR sometime. Congratulations on the success of your watch channel! I definitely checked it out after that conversation and saw you have videos with over 2 million views! That's so cool! I'm honestly super happy for both you and LSVs successful ventures into YouTube. Also, it was really cool to hear your follow up with getting to meet Wyatt in person. That was awesome! One thing I really appreciate about you guys' relationship is how you celebrate each other successes. That is so huge. I appreciate your example of what a true friendship looks like! Congratulations this year to all of the Limmie winners, including Phyrexia All Will be One! Anyways, thank you guys once again for all that you do for the community. I appreciate all that you do and wish you continued success this coming year.

2024-01-11 21:49:56 +0000 UTCHey guys, I am finding myself in a bit of a magic slump right now and so decided to take a break and that got me wondering about you all. Do you also sometimes get tired of magic? If so, how do you handle that as content creators for the game? Thanks for all you guys do. Even when I am on break from Magic, I still listen to you guys.

2024-01-11 21:49:38 +0000 UTCHey guys! Love the podcast. I'm wondering what you think the better question is: how can I lose this game or how can I win this game?
Ryan Shannon
2024-01-11 21:49:30 +0000 UTCHi guys! I've noticed that there's not a lot of "evergreen" sealed discussion out. I'm starting to ramp up for a sealed tournament for Karlov Manor and wondering if you guys have any tips on playing sealed in a competitive environment? I know that sealed is slower generally and you should prioritize bombs but I'm wondering if you guys have insight that goes a little beyond that. Edit: For a more specific question, if you have a pool that isn't super busted, what are some of the best ways to increase your win percentage with your build knowing your opponents might have far better pools than you?
Rolands Lauzums
2024-01-11 21:45:38 +0000 UTCHey! I was wondering if you guys had any thoughts about the difficulty of getting to Mythic? Some players seem to suggest that it's more contingent on grinding tons of drafts than on playing well or having a strong win rate. How often do you guys make mythic? How long does it take/howeasy do you find the enterprise? Thank you!

2024-01-11 21:39:22 +0000 UTCWith pro play back, I have been interested in actually attending LCQs. I live in a big city, but in Canada (Vancouver). It feels like there are very few qualifiers - not sure what it feels like across the border. Unsure if this is just life in Canada, or if stores are just less interested these days? As a follow up - it might be nice to have an up to date explanation of how organized play on mtgo -actually- works. As a relative newcomer it can be confusing

2024-01-11 21:38:56 +0000 UTCHi guys, I've been a Patreon supporter for several years now, and love listening to the podcast on my drive to and from work. I will be heading on a cruise to Alaska in September, and will be starting out in Seattle for a couple days beforehand. Marshall, would you happen to have any great food recommendations while my wife and I are in town? Thanks and keep rocking it!
