Crub Weekly Newsletter - Feb. 17th 2025

We've decided we should actually promote and talk about the things we release for members on this Patreon. If you're curious about what we're doing but not enough to chip in (yet), you can follow us here and get an idea week to week of what we're making. Plus, we'll be using this as a way to talk about what we're doing generally, such as sharing what our crubcast topic will be in advance...unless it's a time where we decide what we're doing 5 minutes before we start. Those wind up being the best ones, though. Usually.

First off for our early podcast/video tier members we have the ENTIRE (20 second) Jtart9 Olaf Ship of Theseus discussion. Get Justin's nuanced, balanced take on the topic that swept part of Norway.
Find it here.

While we typically aim for a single piece of Patreon content on Mondays, the Jtart9 video was such a meaty one that we decided to give something shorter to help balance things out. Podcastémon Episode 019 sees Kevin, Justin, and Chris tackle episodes 93 to 98 of the original Pokemon series. Ash is trying to get Orange Island badges, and a guy named Danny is trying to get...weirdly comfortable with Misty.

If you're not an audio member, there's a short preview clip here.

Book Crub will be taking place in the Discord (https://crub.org/join if you're not there), where you can join us to talk about a game each month if you're a crubscriber. This month's game is High On Life, yes, that one, which is on the PlayStation Plus...Extra...middle tier thing. Whatever it's called. We're sure that Justin would hate it.

Speaking of Justin, our current planned Crubcast topic this week is him, Nicco, and Sean wondering where fun sports video games went. We maybe didn't know how good we had it during the days of NFL Street. Be sure to go remind them about Sport Story Tuesday at 7 PM Eastern. You forgot about Sport Story, didn't you? Probably for the best...

Speaking of sports games, Kevin released a fascinating video going into weird backroom dealings of early Madden games, and how a hostile takeover was part of a foundation for PlayStation's earliest history.

Chris also whined about Pokémon storage systems. If this is of any interest to you, listen to him and nod along. Critics have called it "an agreeable video" and have told him about favoriting Pokémon in Pokémon Home maybe 37 times. He appreciates it but can no longer escape the voices.

Not sure how to end a newsletter so here's the monitor that Trav broke last week on air
