Alpha Adrian part 14

“What the fuck is happening?”

Eva instantly regretted the question when Zya stirred at the sound and raised her head.

She could only sob. Was she in danger? Was that thing still Zya? Was she crazy? Should she run? Wouldn’t the beast be faster than her?

Zya nudged Eva with her snout, and the proximity to her teeth made her inch away. When headlights approached in the distance, Zya— the wolf— whatever this was, stood and dashed behind the car to hide.

The vehicle was a large truck. Eva looked up at the dark window as it rolled down. An old Asian woman looked at her. “Are you alright, honey? Having car trouble?” she asked.

Eva opened her mouth to speak, but nothing came out.

The woman inhaled deeply. “Hmm… werewolf?”

Eva’s legs twitched with the need to run.

Zya growled from behind the car, and the woman walked out of the car. “I’m afraid I can’t let you go, sweetheart.” As she stepped forward, Zya appeared.

The woman shook her head. “Stand down, Zya. You may not know me, but you reek of your sister. I know exactly who you are.” She squinted at Eva. “I’ll call Zena and have her handle this.”

Eva ran a hand through her hair. Werewolf? Reek? Dealing with this? Who was this woman?

“I’m going to leave,” she finally blurted. “I—”

Zya whimpered, and the woman took a step closer. “If you run, then Zya and I will come after you.”

“You can’t keep me against my will,” she trembled. She was speaking boldly for a person who couldn't even stand on her own feet.

“I can and I will,” the strange woman said. She dug into her jacket, pulled her phone out, and dialed a number.

“I need you to get the alpha on the line right now. Now. It’s a life or death situation.” She stared at Eva as she continued her situation. “Sir, I need you to communicate with Alpha Zena. Her sister shifted in front of a human and the situation needs to be contained. No, I don’t believe The Council needs to be involved yet.”

This was getting bad. Eva’s brain was putting together all sorts of explanations for what was happening. Maybe this was a prank. Maybe they’re actors with special effects. Anything made more sense than accepting that werewolves existed.

Adrian watched Kevin cross the office with a folder raised, as if expecting Adrian to throw the nearest item at him.

He had to admit that he had been more short-fused than usual. After that rogue messed around with Eva and he nearly blew his cover, he had to give her space. He missed her, but instead of going to her, he had to plan a dozen excuses for what happened.

Lost in his thoughts, he accidentally squeezed a pen until it burst and sprayed him with ink. With a curse, he tossed the pen aside and unbuttoned his shirt. Kevin ducked into a corner melodramatically, so he rolled his eyes.

His phone took that moment to rang, so he pulled away from the mess and looked at the Caller ID. Zena was calling. The woman was strong and while Adrian knew that she was interested in him, she wasn’t his mate. He only had eyes for Eva. He wished she was the one calling.

It wasn’t odd for Zena to call. Although her eyes lingered on him enough times that he knew she was into him, she always kept conversations professional.

“Hello?” he picked up the phone.

Zena got right to it. “We have a problem.”

He raised an eyebrow. “What’s that?”

“My sister, Zya, shifted today.”

“That’s great. Congratulations,” he offered. He knew that Zya was well into her twenties and was thought to be a non-shifter. They thought she didn’t get the wolf-gene, but her late shift proved that theory wrong.

“Not quite the time to celebrate, unfortunately,” Zena added. “She shifted on her way to my place. I’m hearing that Eva, a human, was in the car with her. Does that name ring any bells?”

Adrian was on his feet, running half-naked through the building, before Zena could finish the sentence. This was bad. It wasn’t how Eva was supposed to learn of his world.

He needed her safe and stable in his arms.

“I’ll meet you there. I need the coordinates now, Zena.”

“Is she…” Zena began.

‘Mate’ wouldn’t suffice, so Adrian replied, “She’s my lifeline.”

Zena paused, so he pushed, “the coordinates. Now.”

Being civil could go to hell. He’d burn bridges and condemn people if that’s what it took to find Eva.

“Right. I’ll send them to you and give you clearance to enter my land. I’ll see you in a few hours.”

“I need her safe!” he snarled. “Now. Get to her until I arrive.”

“I got it. Goodbye.”

(Beginning of part 15)

Eva sat inside the car. She didn’t have the keys, but being away from Zya and the dangerous woman gave her a  sense of peace. She felt like hyperventilating, but her body was too shocked to even allowed that.

She could only stare at the distance, squint at the approaching cars for hours, and feel her heart shrink when a particular male stepped out. Adrian sprinted toward her, and rage evaporated her fears and frustration. Why was it that he got involved in every sketchy situation in her life? First the lawsuit, then the false identity, and now this circus show?

A woman with short hair stepped out of another car— Zena. Eva ignored her. Her teary, angry glare was on Adrian, who was rounding the car.

Why was he doing this? She trusted him, gave him second chances, but the secrets just keep rolling.

“Get away from me!” She shrieked when he tried to pull the door open. With his superior strength, he pulled it until the handle went flying from her hands, and then he reached for her. With pushes and scratches, squirming and panting, she tried to ward him off.

“Fuck you, Miller! Whoever you are. Get off me!”

He was muttering words she had no interest in hearing, and he was hugging her tight. There was no escaping this. She was in too deep.

Comments

It seems like women from both stories are enveloped into the arms of men they don’t want atm. Lol

Clarissa Oquendo

Omg omg!! Can’t wait for the next part!

I think if I found out werewolves were real I would have a mental breakdown and sob for a second. Then be super confused to how it’s possible and then grill them with questions.

Sarah

Alpha's should be able to turn people into werewolves

Ree1209

I would probably hyperventilate then pass out... truly. Then, once I woke up I would be pissed I can't turn into a werewolf, LOL

Ree1209

Wow, I'm trying to remember the first Alpha Adrian, I feel like they might be some subtle changes.. either way great chapter ❤💜

Shelley Brown

think this is the first ‘normal’ human reaction we’ve seen in the wolf chronicles. about time. great chapter 🥳

Violet

I just want a life filled with naps guys. This would bring so much drama 😭

Cremebrumay

I’ve read the werewolf reveal so many times and I always think how I would react if this happened to me. The first time I thought about it, I thought I would take it completely fine LOL. The other times I thought maybe I would just be pissed. Now I think I would either just stand there with a blank look in my eyes or throw up haha

Cremebrumay

Whoop! Whoop!🥳
