Alpha Adrian part 15

Movement became practically impossible from how tightly Adrian hugged her to his naked chest. He smelled of metallic ink, and his skin was unnaturally warm. This was nothing like the day he hugged her under all the debris and made her feel safe.

In her panic, she forgot every smile he sent her way, every touch of their hands. Adrian became the bogeyman, and she had to get away.

Zena and Zya watched as she writhed in his arms. Her legs were dangling in the air and her head was lolling in left and right as she fought him. The electricity that coursed between them only fueled her confusion.

“Please calm down. You’ll hurt yourself,” Adrian begged. He didn’t seem to mind the kicks she was landing on his legs.

She was already hurt. Her head was splitting open with a headache, and her chest ached with disappointment because she realized Adrian was no good. He was toxic.

She wanted to go. She didn’t owe this man anything. Already, she gave him a chance and all he seemed to do was confuse her more. This had to be a sick game of his. It wouldn’t be the first time.

“We need to get off the road. Zya, can you shift back?” Zena asked.

Zya must have replied no, because Zena followed up with, “It’s alright, sweetheart. It gets easier with time. I’ll be here for you.”

She was talking to a wolf. Soothing the wolf instead of the woman getting kidnapped right in front of her.

Adrian began walking toward the car, carrying her with him. Eva writhed harder because she knew that if she got in the car, there would be no going back.

Adrian hugged her on his lap. He was trying to calm her by whispering all sorts of things, but she was past calm. If her terror wasn’t so thick that it stuck her words in her throat, then she would be screaming.

Zya lowered into the passenger seat, and Zena drove off.

The trees zoomed past on the window. After only ten minutes, Zena turned onto a dirt path.

“Adrian, why is your Ferrari shoved into my pack house’s kitchen?”

“I’ll pay for the damages,” he grunted.

If Eva wasn’t panicking, she would have rolled her eyes. She spent so much time struggling that her muscles were aching. Fatigue was settling in.

If you can’t fight him, then compromise.

She slowly loosed her body until she was docile. Her cheek was on his shoulder, and her hands flat on his chest.

Adrian lowered his chin to the top of her head and rubbed her back. “I know you’re scared and confused,” he began. “But I’d hurt myself before I hurt you. You’ll see with time.”

“Why can’t you just let me go?” she swallowed back a sob. “I won’t tell. I won’t even think of this night. I just want to go home.”

He didn’t answer, and she didn’t like that. It was like she was trapped in the elevator all over again, although this time the walls that caged her were arms instead of brick.

Zena came to a full stop in front of an enormous Victorian-style home. More houses were in the distance.

Adrian helped her outside and took a step back to allow her some space. When Eva saw a male step out of Zena’s home, she scanned him from head to toe. From what she could tell, he was built. If there was anyone that could help her to freedom, it was him.

Forget compromising. Adrian mentioned that she’d learn ‘with time,’ which meant that he was planning on kidnapping her for the long run. She had no interest in being with a man that kept her against her will. Forget his charm, forget his handsomeness, forget his money. He failed at respecting her.

Taking her chances, she ran toward the man and cried for help. She heard Adrian’s footsteps follow, so she launched herself into the man’s arms. His eyes widened and his arms instinctively lifted to catch her. They collided with a thud, and although he didn’t fall backward from her weight, Eva felt pain in her chest when his hand pressed into her right breast. She yelped, and the man dropped his hand instantly. It clearly had been an accident, but Adrian’s growl declared he saw something else.

“Fuck!” Zena yelled.

Eva circled the man to hide behind his back and got a good view of Zena rolling on the ground with Adrian. She was trying to pin him down, but he seemed hellbent. He pushed Zena onto her back and was back on his feet.

As he charged, he looked like a ranging bull. Chest dusty, teeth bared, nostrils flared.

Fearing what would happen when he caught her, Eva stumbled away from the man. To her shock, instead of going for her, Adrian tackled the man. He braced, but Adrian was a hundred pounds heavier and carried more momentum. They crashed right to the ground, and Zena jumped into the mess to limbs to separate the two.

The rumble was wild. Unnatural. Foreign.

She took a few steps away and took advantage of their distraction to inch to the car. Seeing what she was doing, Zya tried to cross her but didn’t touch her. Eva lunged away from her and dived into the driver’s seat. Zya followed. The car took off, and only when the wheels squealed did the werewolves stop their rumble to chase her.

With Zya barking in the back seat, Eva tore through the roads in search of the highway. Her hands were trembling on the steering wheel, her eyes flickering to the rearview mirror. She only made it two miles before turning too sharply and losing control of the vehicle. Without her seatbelt on, she went flying through the windshield.

She was airborne for a few seconds, and then she was against a tree. She heard a loud crunch, but she wasn’t sure if that was the tree getting damaged from her weight or her head open.

She couldn’t sense if she was breathing, couldn’t lift a single finger. All she could do was beg for unconsciousness.

There was so much pain everywhere that she missed the comfort of Adrian’s lap. It was morbid how he was the only thing she could focus on as her vision darkened. The man she tried to run from now seemed like paradise.

This wasn’t right. This was supposed to be a getaway weekend with her best friend, not horror and death.
