Alpha Adrian part 29
Added 2021-07-19 05:06:44 +0000 UTCThis home was colder. The penthouse Adrian stayed in when he was in the city had nothing hanging on the walls and no carpets. The appliances were shiny and polished, but even they seemed unreasonably undisturbed.
Eva stood in the kitchen like a fish out of water, afraid of touching anything although she knew Adrian would only fuss over her if she accidentally broke something.
Adrian might call this home, but it certainly didn’t feel like that to her. How was she supposed to sleep here?
“Here,” Adrian extended a glass of water.
She accepted it and looked at a stool questionably as if she should risk sitting on it.
“Let’s go to the couch,” Adrian decided for them.
The sectional couch was elegant, and it was placed near a wide window that offered a magnificent view of the city. The twinkling lights offered a warmth the penthouse lacked.
“Let me finish a few things and I’ll be all yours.” Adrian gave an encouraging squeeze to her knee and then picked a laptop from the table.
All mine, huh?
She sipped on her water and stood up after a few minutes. Her feet carried her to the window. Beads of water blurred the view when it began raining. Distracted, Eva turned to look at Adrian, who was still engrossed in his work as if the world depended on it.
She lost track of time for thirty minutes, and the stress of the day was finally starting to seep in. She was in desperate need of a shower after all the excitement that happened between her thighs and the nervous sweat that broke out across the rest of her body.
Adrian looked so lost in his work that she didn’t want to disturb him, so she sat on a chair and remained loyal to the window. She was bored, but she couldn’t admit that to him and risk offense.
Is this how it will be all the time?
The question alerted her, because she was thinking of her and Adrian as a long-term thing, whatever that ‘thing’ was. She begrudgingly accepted werewolves existed without seeing one up close, and now she was slowly accepting she was attached to one. Whatever magic Adrian was using made her grow closer to him.
“Are you bored?”
She jolted in her seat when she noticed Adrian was standing behind her chair. He moved too silently for a man his size. Was that another werewolf thing?
With a hand at her pulsing neck, she blurted, “Are you trying to kill me?”
Adrian picked up her glass and took her hand. “I have no interest in that because if you die, then so do I. Let me show you your room.”
Ignoring the peculiar comment, she allowed him to take her around the bare penthouse.
“You know… I’ve seen cemeteries more decorated than this place,” she said as she passed an artificial plant. That was probably the only decorative touch in there.
He grinned. “Feel free to grab markers and paint the walls.”
What was she, four years old to be painting walls with markers? A picture of kids appeared in her mind, shocking her.
They stopped by a door. Unfortunately, Adrian noticed her discomfort.
“What is it?”
“Uh… nothing. Is there a bathroom in this room?”
“Yeah. There are clothes in the closet and I’ll have food brought up. I think I’m almost done with work. Can you wait a few more minutes?”
She found it sweet that he was asking. Whatever project he was working on was undoubtedly worth a lot of money— more money than she could offer, but he was standing before her and making sure she was settling in well.
“Yeah, don’t worry.”
He gave her a bright smile and walked away, and she appreciated the sight of his strong back until he vanished around a corner. He had his faults like everyone else, but being unattractive was not one of them. Adrian Miller was one hell of a gorgeous man.
Crossing the door, she found another guest bedroom. The closet was stocked, and the rest of the place was spotless. She didn’t take much time to explore, desperate to scrub the day away. She took her time in the shower to wash her hair and body, cringing when she realized her legs were prickly and in need of shaving. She messed with the cabinets, but found no razor, so she was forced to embrace the cactus growing on her skin. After changing into a pair of silky black pajamas that thankfully had long pants, she went in search of Adrian.
He was still pounding away at his laptop, but food was now waiting in the kitchen. It smelled delicious— whatever it was, but she wasn’t hungry.
After another glass of water, she returned to her spot by the window and began nodding off to sleep. Although Adrian was right there, his mind was in another world. It didn’t seem like a happy world, since he glared at his screen and stabbed the keyboard with strong fingers.
When he found her staring at him, he looked pained. “I’m sorry, Eva,” he groaned. “I’m sorry for doing this all wrong.”
She tipped her head to the side with confusion. “What do you mean?” she yawned.
“You were supposed to be on vacation; to be getting a break from all the stress.” He rubbed his face with one of those huge hands of his. A hand she would kill to have caressing her own instead of the keyboard.
“But now all I do is drag you around like a lost puppy and make things worse. You deserve better. I’m sorry, sweetheart.”
She had to admit that she was lonely, but things could be worse.
“It’s not a big deal. Seriously, don’t worry about me.”
A ding came from his computer, and he scowled at the thing for interrupting. It seemed like work wouldn’t allow him to even complete a conversation with her.
Sleepy and sympathetic, Eva rose from her chair and sank beside him on the couch. She straightened her spine to gain a few inches and puckered her lips. Adrian’s cheek was the target, but of course, she never landed the kiss. Her luck had other plans.
Adrian turned his face at the wrong time and got a mouthful of her face. They stiffened and look at each other wide-eyed and lip-locked. Eva didn’t pull away. She wanted to blame shock, but she knew it was because she enjoyed having his bicep pressed between her breasts, and his warm lips on hers.
The hunger she had been denied that night came roaring back with a vengeance.

2021-07-20 15:22:50 +0000 UTCI feel this story is going soo slow 😆 I kind of liked the previous version better. This version of Eva.. Idk seems to me really blunt?🤔 ( I mean no offense, it's just how I feel)

2021-07-19 22:26:32 +0000 UTCNot every woman is a badass, ass kicking, confident, sex appeal oozing woman and that is ok. I personally think having female characters like these once in a while makes her stories realistic and relatable (to me at least).

2021-07-19 17:46:21 +0000 UTCYup sis was in heat for days...I think that’s like one of the most dirtiest chapters ever but like still romantic at the same time

2021-07-19 17:04:26 +0000 UTCReading how she is, honestly, relates to me so much. I feel like all other stories the females are instantly spit fires, I’m not like that at all. I’m more the slow burn that develops into a raging fire and knowing that she seems to be leading that way Too makes me connect with the story and character more.

2021-07-19 15:48:30 +0000 UTCthis protagonist isn’t the typical female alpha that is usually depicted in Ancientt’s other novel’s, doesn’t mean she’s incompetent in my opinion - maybe more introverted or reserved
Violet
2021-07-19 11:08:05 +0000 UTCWhy is she incompetent? What is it that she didn’t succeed at doing? Running away? She’s human going up against a pack of wolves! Shoots I would still be in shock even now 😂

2021-07-19 10:41:54 +0000 UTCSooo??? Alex was also human and she got a heat ! An that’s kind of the sequel to this book you gotta read that one on inkitt she wrote that one first

2021-07-19 10:27:01 +0000 UTCI mean look at Kira, Nebula, Ran, Venus, Karine its not just about being the alpha female . I am sure Eva is pretty Empathetic, Kind, Sweet but that ends there. Couldn't find anything concrete. Sorry if I forgot anything that was mentioned earlier in the story. hehe
Ritupon Hira
2021-07-19 09:29:34 +0000 UTCno offence, she feels like such an incompetent female in comparison with Adrian. I mean she's the kinda girl Adrian wouldn't look twice if she wasn't his mate.

2021-07-19 09:21:30 +0000 UTCWaittt did she get her heat I don’t ever remember if I read that or not but shouldn’t she have that by now ?😂
