The First Flame part 12

It was raining. It had been raining for the past week. The city turned even uglier when it was drenched.

Henry rambled in the background. He talked about hoping those humans in stasis would do better, how he wasn’t sad about the extinction of humans on Earth. 

Ran didn’t know what to feel about humanity's fate. How could she, when her own identity was muffled? She wasn't Terran or Ezronian anymore. She was just a thing that had to hide; a rat.

Henry was trying to cheer her up with his stories. He was trying to pry any emotion out of her. It wouldn’t work. No matter the story, no matter how much alcohol he offered, she remained a zombie.

She was sad.

Her eyes remained loyal to the sky for hours every day. This was her only hobby. She was waiting for a spaceship to appear, or a portal to open, anything. The loss of her family and Eon felt like the loss of a limb. Nothing could distract her from their absence.

Sixty-one Earth days passed. Two months. With every day that passed, the sadness bloomed uglier. She was no longer interested in the world that surrounded her. She didn’t ask questions, didn’t stare, didn’t wonder. She felt frozen.

After Henry explained just how far California was from Africa, her hopes crumbled. She was brave, but not an idiot. There was no way she could weave past a billion men and reach Genesis. Not when planes were so scarce, and the ocean so dangerous.

She tried to find the spaceship during her first week. Just as Siox said, it was disabled. She found it rammed into the side of a building, unable to fly again. Her cry of anger was so loud that it attracted four men. They tried to take her down, and she lost touch with sanity. It took her less than a minute to turn them into a sea of severed limbs.

“Ran,” Henry called out. “Why don’t I bring a friend? Would that cheer you up?”

“A friend?” she asked, voice dull.

“Yeah. I practically raised this guy. He lives a few streets away and is about your age. I figured you were getting tired of my ramblings.”

Was Henry trying to hook her up? It was no use. There was only one male she was interested in, even if he was in another galaxy. No Terran would replace Eon. None was as dominant, loyal, stubborn as he.

“No, thank you.”

Henry sighed. “Alright.” He moved to the kitchen to organize what little food they had. Ran rarely went on food runs with him. She pulled her own weight by clearing out passages. 

Henry always got excited when he got access to new rooms. Ran was happy for him. At least one of them had something to look after in the mornings.

She walked away from the window. Nothing appeared in the sky. Nothing ever did. 

After making sure the door was shut, she laid on her untidy bed and reached under her skirt. With careful fingers, she touched herself.

This was the only time she felt something. The fear, sadness, anger, disappeared for a few sweet moments. She had been masturbating multiple times per day, just to forget. It was her drug. Her escape.

She slipped three fingers inside to mimic Eon’s girth. It didn’t feel right. It didn’t feel like enough. Her pitiful fingers could never recreate that wonderful male.

“Princess.”

She could hear him, feel his breath fan her lips.

“No. Call me Ran.”

“Ran.”

“Eon,” she moaned, stroking faster, saturating the blankets.

“Open the door.”

She must be cracking. The sadness must be gnawing on her sanity, because she was hallucinating.

She stood up, her knees shaking although her orgasm hadn’t arrived. She pulled the door open and found him there, smiling. She didn’t want his kindness, though. She wanted his cruelty as he pounded into her. 

Eon closed the door, and she jumped at him. She dragged her aching sex against his thigh for relief. He lifted it between her thighs so she could use him more comfortably. His strong, warm arms went around her.

Eon was stubborn in both spirit and flesh. His body was hard all over, fighting her softness. Even in the art of uniting, they fought.

One of his arms dipped under her dress to caress her wet lips. His other arm kept their chests together so he could feel her heart thundering in her breast. He liked seeing her lose control. Liked it when she proved to both of them that she was weak when it came to him.

He stroked her once, twice, and then pulled her skirt down to cover her bottom.

“No,” she cried.

This was a horrible hallucination.

“It is alright. It will be alright.”

The door opened, and Eon was ripped away by Vrox.

“You had your minute,” Vrox declared. “Give her to me.”

This wasn’t a hallucination. No. Eon, Vrox, and Ni’ev were here.

She stumbled backward. How? After sixty days of nothing but hopes, Henry’s voice, and canned beans, they arrived.

She raced to the window and peeked outside. Her warship was there, hovering above ground.

This was real.

“Ran, come.”

She spun around. Eon was still at the entrance, but his wrists were restricted with cuffs.

“What are you doing?” she challenged. “Let him go.”

Vrox clutched onto her before she could approach Ni’ev and Eon.

“Dad?”

Silently, Vrox draped his cape over her shoulders and hugged her close. One of his hands fell to her stomach, petting it in search of signs of pregnancy.

Without taking his eyes off her, he said, “get rid of him.”

“What? No!” She flailed and reached out for Eon, who was many feet away.

He looked sad, and his body was relaxed. He was compliant as Ni’ev pulled him away.

Vrox clung to Ran even as she screamed, slapped and punched him.

“He’s a criminal,” Vrox argued. 

She wasn’t hearing it.

If there’s one thing this trip to Earth taught her, it’s that she was ready to explore something else. She didn’t want to command warships, or go through military training, or learn about bureaucracies. She already mastered all of that. Now, she wanted to learn about romance and the flesh, but she couldn’t do it without Eon. 

Something took breath between them. It wasn’t love– no, not yet, but the flame burned too hot to not be explored. She wanted to explore it.

When Eon disappeared behind a corner, her screams became more frantic.

“Baby,” Vrox pleaded.

“Where are you taking him?” she demanding. “Tell me!”

Vrox set his jaw. “He will be left behind on this planet. It will be his punishment.”

“You sound crazy!”

Her father had never lifted a mean hand against her. That’s why when he gave her a stern shake that made her head jerk backward, she was speechless.

“Enough. I nearly lost you because of him, and I will not take that risk again.”

“I will never forgive you.”

He looked down at her, and whatever he saw on her face made his hold loosen.

Taking advantage, she ran away.

“Hey kid!” Henry was crouching behind a pile of old equipment. “They went that way.”

She ran in the direction he pointed in, hearing her father chasing her down. There were ten Ezronians in the lobby, including Eon, and a dozen humans that were lurking closer.

When they saw her, all hell broke loose.

The Ezronian men naturally had the upper hand. With his hands bound, Eon took down a man.

Seeing Ni’ev fighting two men at a time, Ran picked up a brick and sent it flying. It hit the back of a human’s head.

Ran jumped down a staircase to reach the lobby faster and dogged reaching hands. She jumped on Eon, wrapping her arms around his shoulders tightly. 

He inhaled her hair, unable to hug her back.

“Go back to your father,” he muttered. “It is not safe.”

“No.”

“Commander, we must go. More of them are coming,” an Ezronian warned.

Ran gripped Eon tighter.

It wasn’t fair. Whatever Eon was being accused of must be a misunderstanding. He put his life on the line for her, risking getting maimed or killed to keep her safe.

“Ran,” Vrox called out.

“Get off me,” she fought, desperate to stay against Eon.

“You are lucky I let him say goodbye. You will come, now.”

“I’m staying with him. You don’t know what its like, being hopeless and alone and millions of light years from home. You don’t know.”

Vrox’s eyes flickered from Eon to her. “I do this for you. I love you, Ran. He is not the male for you.” Offering no chance to reply, he tossed her over his shoulder.

Ran fought, but she was only strong enough to make him stumble a few times.

“Uncle, please,” she pleaded to Ni’ev.

Ni’ev looked uncomfortable. “I am sorry, little one.”

Vrox loaded her onto the ship, kicking and screaming while the Ezronians fought to keep the humans away. Vrox locked her away and then disappeared.

It wasn’t until the sounds of war stopped that the engines turned on, and the ship took off. She scratched at thick metal walls, trying to dig herself out.
