The First Flame part 14

Vrox came to see her every day, but she didn’t welcome him with hugs and kisses.

She read books while she waited for him to admit defeat. Her free time gave her plenty of opportunity to process what she learned on Earth, too. Her mother had always stressed over the thought of being the last generation of humans. She would be relieved to know that there was hope on another star.

Ran wanted to write about the discovery for future Ezronian-Terrans to dream on. She wasn’t a fan of writing, since it required sitting for a long time and repeating the same motions. She would still do it. For Earth, and for Doctor Henry.

A new hobby would be good for her, too. It would distract her from her misery.

The ship jolted, and she groaned. Technically, this was still her warship. Whoever was driving it seemed to be an amateur.

Apparently, Vrox’s threats to The Federation had them surrendering the ship. It was the only vessel capable of making the trip. Whatever shortcut Siox took to Earth was still a mystery.

She shut her book and entered the adjoined shower. As water trickled down, she placed her forehead on the cool metallic wall and let her hands trail over her stiff body.

With every rub and squeeze, with every whisper of Eon’s name, she became calmer. Her orgasm made her collapse. It was powerful, but it was Pluto compared to the Jupiter that Eon’s cock would have given her.

She finished cleaning up and returned to bed. The room was gloomy, but at least she was no longer kept in the cells. Vrox either felt guilty, or thought she calmed down enough that she wouldn’t plot to attack him.

A knock at the door made her slip out of bed. Vrox was back, staring at her as if she was the most precious thing in the universe.

“I brought you food.” He said, looking down at his tray.

“Thank you.” She took the tray and went tried to dismiss him by closing the door.

“Baby?”

She looked at him expectantly.

“It has been two days. We arrive home tomorrow. Has it not been enough?”

“No.”

Vrox looked frustrated. “Is he really that important to you? He is just a male. There are many to choose from on Ezron. Why not Niel? He is a strong, loyal man. You two got along in childhood.”

She had a crush on Niel in her younger teenage years, but she outgrew that long ago. Niel was great, but he was too careful with her like the other males. Only Eon would step over lines and challenge her authority.

“Yes, Eon is really that important to me. Your punishment does not fit the crime. Goodnight, father.”

“Baby,” Vrox tried again.

He offered her more gifts, trying to buy her affection. She was interested in none of it.

The flight to Ezron took another long day. The warship was traveling at neck-breaking speeds through space. Eon was so far away that it crushed her just thinking about it. He was alone, and probably in danger.

Was he thinking of her?

“Ran. We need you.” Ni’ev appeared at her door many hours later. “We need you to land this thing safely on Ezron.”

“Will you trust that I won’t fly back to Earth?” she snorted.

“There is no fuel left to make another trip. I am sorry.”

She sighed and walked through the corridors to reach the deck. Vrox was waiting for her by the captain’s chair. He smiled and reached for her when he saw her.

“I never approved of you getting training from The Academy. I did not see the need of it since Ezron would always be there to protect you. Now look at me, in a ship full of Ezronian men that cannot land this vessel. Only my daughter can do it. I am proud of you, and I finally accept that I was wrong in trying to keep you from your exploration.”

She bit her tongue to hold back a comment. She had sassed Vrox in public enough already.

She stepped away from his hold and sat on the captain’s seat. Like second nature, she guided the enormous vessel. There were a few unavoidable bumps along the way, but she landed it perfectly in a field a few miles from The Ruins.

Men packed, and the vessel was emptied. As they marched home, she gave the ship a fleeting glance.

This wasn’t the end. Someday, someway, she would return.

They walked to the pyramid. She had Vrox on one side and Ni’ev on the other. She wore long pants and a top that was tied together at the shoulders. Vrox insisted she wore her cape, although it wasn’t cold.

Ezronians cheered when they crossed them. Everyone was glad to have them home, and she couldn’t be more grateful for their love and loyalty.

When she reached the pyramid, feminine squeals made her cringe. A horde of about forty women and hybrids. She saw her sisters in the mix.

The sight awed her.

Kira crushed her to her chest, kissing her cheeks with so much ferocity that she couldn’t help but laugh. She felt a blow to her left as one of her sisters hugged her.

They asked a million questions. It was impossible to keep track.

“And Eon? Where is he?”

Ran tore her stare from Eve to stare at Kira. She was smiling and staring at Vrox.

Ran swallowed.

“We should speak indoors,” Vrox said, taking a step forward.

Kira wrapped her arms around him. “Don’t tell me you scared the kid off. You need to get over the pregnancy thing. So? Where is he?”

“My heart…” Vrox began, staring at the women nervously.

“Vrox?”

“He had to be punished,” Vrox said.

“I know. We said we would talk about it, remember?”

This was gut-retching.

“He left him behind,” Ran finally delivered. “On Earth.”

Kira stiffened and then pried herself away as if he burnt her. “You did what?!”

Men shrunk away from Vrox.

“He’s– he’s a kid! You left him in a war zone. How could you do this? It wasn’t your call to make!”

Ran saw a new expression cross Kira’s face. It was anger, disappointment, and heartbreak. She hadn’t seen it in twenty years of life.

Kira didn’t give him a chance to reply. With gritted teeth, she stomped off with her daughters following her.

Nebula rubbed her temples, looking stressed. Jaxxon wrapped an arm around her and led her away. One by one, everyone left until only Vrox and Ran remained.

Ran shifted her feet. “You’re not a bad person. You just made a bad choice.”

She left, and Vrox was alone until he felt a strong clap on his back. Turning around, he saw that it was his oldest brother.

“Come. Kyros got caught in a flytrap again and needs help to get out.”

Vrox sighed. “That idiot.”

Akdronis grinned. “Welcome home.”
