The First Flame part 18

Ran and Neil rushed to make it back in time. On the way, Ran clutched her skirt. She was afraid that the wind would flick it up and give Neil a view of the mess Eon left down there.

Poor Neil looked flustered, as if he knew what happened in his absence.

“So if dad asks what happened...”

“We held hands and talked about… uh, hunting?”

Ran laughed. “Hunting? Gee, how romantic.”

“Well, that’s what we usually talk about! You’re not as frilly as your sisters.”

“Tell him we talked about what happened on Earth.”

Neil nodded. “That makes sense. So? Is there anything you want to tell me about Earth?”

She shrugged. “I was depressed, lonely, and hiding. Not much to tell.”

“What it look like?”

She frowned. “Ugly. There were these big cages of metal and squared mountains that you could live in. There were no trees.”

“I’m glad Vrox didn’t leave your guy over there. I mean, Eon is an asshole, but no one deserves to be deserted on an alien planet.”

Vrox certainly earned himself some brownie points, but he was still not in the clear. Not until Eon was free.

When they arrived home, they made a big show of walking hand-in-hand.

Eve snorted. “The lovebirds are back,” she teased.

Ran sent her a glare, but went back to smiling fakely when Vrox descended down the stairs.

He stopped in front of them and scanned her from head to toe for injuries. Little did he know that her sex was still beat up from Eon’s tongue.

“Good,” he told Neil. “You can go home now.”

“Goodnight.” He kissed Ran’s cheek, and then he left.

“Thanks for letting us hang out,” Ran said. It hurt her to feign being happy, but she had to do it if she wanted to see Eon again.

Vrox nodded, looking excited that she was starting a conversation with him after weeks of avoidance. “Did you have fun?”

“Yes. It got my mind off things. I want to spend more time with him again. Do you think we can hang out tomorrow?”

Vrox nodded, eager to please her. “Of course, baby.”

“I’ll see you at dinner.”

She went to the bathing room, although it hurt her to wash off Eon. She told herself that she would see him again and allow him to paint her skin with his tongue one more time.

With a grin, she touched her lips.

“What’s got you so happy?” Apollo asked.

She hung her towel and dove into the bathtub.

Ran looked at the entrance and whispered, “I did something bad.”

Apollo rolled her eyes and pushed her short brown hair behind an ear. “Of course you did. What did you do?” She tossed a look to the closed door. “Did you get knocked up like Terra?”

“Shh!” Ran pushed a hand over her sister’s mouth.

Apollo’s eyes locked on her exposed breast, and she mumbled something behind her hand.

Slowly, Ran released her.

“What the fuck happened to your boob?! Oh shit. I though the thing with Neil was all pretend. Did you guys actually…”

Ran looked down and realized that she had a bite mark on her right breast. When did that happen?

“No! Well, at least not with Neil.”

Apollo frowned. “Well, did you bite yourself?”

“No, silly. Eon did. He’s in the spaceship.”

“Really?” Apollo gasped. “How did that happen? I thought your Romeo was… well, gone.”

“Me too,” Ran said grimly. She lowered herself in the water to cover her chest, afraid one of the older women would show up and see the love mark.

“But dad brought him back. He plans on tossing him to some abandoned land.”

“So what are you going to do?”

“I don’t know,” Ran admitted. “Not yet, at least. I’m going to see him in two days.”

“This sucks. I’m sorry dad’s being… well, such a dad.”

Ran shrugged. “At least he didn’t leave him on Earth.”

Apollo tried to cheer her up for the rest of the bath. They whispered about Terra, whose morning sickness was getting worse. Soon, her secret would come out, and Vrox would lose what little sanity he had left.

Ran went to dinner, and then to bed. She tossed and turned in the sheets, wondering if Eon was sleeping alright in that cold, hard cell.

What was he thinking about? Her? Did he get to talk to his father? Brent must be heartbroken, thinking his son was unreachable.

When the morning came, she realized that waiting two days was impossible. She needed to see Eon as soon as possible.

After breakfast, she pulled Apollo, Eve, and Terra into her room, making sure it looked like they were only gossiping. Her guards watched her like a hawk. It would be impossible to shake them off, but at least she had privacy in her room.

“I need help. I want to sneak out.”

“Good luck with that,” Eve snorted as she went through her closet.

“Come on. Help me, please. Can’t you cover for me like old times? We used to do it all the time.”

Terra pursed her lips. “As the oldest, I’m supposed to tell you to be obedient and behave,” she shrugged. “But I got knocked up by a one-night-stand, so who am I to talk?”

Ran hugged her. “Thanks. So you’ll help?”

“Sure. Girls, you in?”

Eve hesitated. “If dad grounds me, I’ll be pissed at you.”

Apollo groaned. “Is the dick so good that you have to do this?”

“Yes,” Ran blurted. “It is.”

The girls giggled and began their plotting. They would talk loudly to convince the guards that Ran was ill from eating too many joy berries. Terra would stay behind to “watch over her,” and dismiss any visitors or the guards by telling them that Ran was resting.

Apollo would distract their parents, and Eve would cause a ruckus if needed be.

The girls winked at her on their way out. “Feel better soon, Ran!”

“Make sure to slurp some soup,” Eve added. She was definitely not talking about soup.

Once the girls were out, Ran was hopping out the window. She only had three hours to get to the ship and back home.

Terra watched from the window and waved goodbye.

The jungle was scarier at night, but Ran wasn’t intimidated by the shadows or creepers. With her sword held high, she cut down two beasts and reached the ship soon enough.

“Ran?” Eon called out from the cells.

“Hi,” she smiled. She dropped her sword and reached for him.

Eon snatched her hands and connected their foreheads. “How are you back so soon?”

“I snuck out.”

His expression became thunderous. “You came alone? In the night? Are you deranged?”

“Yeah. I thought we established that already. Listen, I’ll have to leave soon, but I’ll be back in two days and stay longer.”

Eon sighed. “I am not sure when Vrox will come for me to transfer me off the continent.”

“He won’t take you anywhere. Eon? Did you talk to your dad?”

His expression darkened. “No. The old man probably thinks I was left on Earth.”

“I’ll talk to him.”

His gaze remained low, so she cupped his jaw and lifted his head. “What’s wrong?”

“When I went after you… I was supposed to clear my family name. Brent is not my biological father. He knew since my birth, but he took me in and kept me even after my mother died. He became a laughingstock and was blamed for my mother’s death. I was supposed to rescue you and bring him honor.” He wrenched his jaw away. “But I turned myself into a criminal.”

“I’ll make sure Brent knows the truth. He probably doesn’t care about the gossip. Why would he, when he has such a great son?”

Eon shook his head. “That old man is stubborn. He probably already left The Ruins.”

“Why did you move out when you were young? Why did Brent take you away?”

Eon shrugged. “I was the only boy without a mother. The ladies were friendly, but I couldn’t go home with them. When my father found out I was feeling left out, he took me away so we could be a family without judgements or feel incomplete.”

“Eon… That’s so sad. I’m sorry.” She hugged him through the bars.

“It is fine. I grew up happily. Besides, this was a long time ago. I’m a man now, and no longer have those thoughts.”

Oh, yeah. She definitely knew how manly he became.

“I’ll find Brent. I’ll make sure he knows I’m getting you out of here.”

He smiled. “Thank you, Princess.”
