His breath tickled her hair as he softly snored. Raelynn was uncomfortably crushed under his weight, but didn’t dare to wake him since the babies would do just that in a few hours.

She was glad to have Maksim. Taking care of two babies would have exhausted her. Maksim might be clueless, but he loved his sons enough to learn.

She breathed steadily and tried to get some sleep. An eyebrow quirked up when she felt Maksim’s hand drift up and cup her breast as he remained unconscious. She may not be able to breastfeed, but Maksim still found plenty of use for her breasts.

Four hours later, an infant’s cry had him shooting up so fast that he slammed his head on the headboard.

Raelynn chuckled. “It used to be so hard to sneak up on you. Now look at you.”

“I was dead asleep and woke up to the sound of a banshee. Fuck, is he hungry or dying?” He picked up the red-faced twin, scowling when the smell of a full diaper hit him. “That doesn’t smell normal.”

“I’m sure your body liquids don’t smell great either,” Raelynn said as she prepared a towel on the bed and grabbed a diaper.

“Which body liquid? The sweat pouring down my back as I go to town on your pussy?”

“Don’t talk like that in front of them!”

He smirked. “They don’t understand. Besides, one day these little flowers will learn that it was my sweat that watered them to life. Well, my sweat and my cu-”

Raelynn was saved when the second twin began to cry. She jumped away from the bed, and went to him.

“Raelynn?”

She cradled the baby against her chest, and turned her blushing face toward Maksim.

“Yeah?” she asked, dreading to hear some more embarrassing things.

Maksim’s sexy smirk was gone. Now, he looked soft.

“I missed you.”

Her heart stuttered. “I… I missed you too.”

He smiled, and then turned to the squirming baby. It took him five minutes to navigate his calloused hands through a diaper, but he got the job done. After he fed and changed the little guy, he kissed his cheek and laid him atop his chest.

“We haven’t named them,” he pointed out.

Raelynn realized that he was right. The babies were four months old and nameless. She and Maksim never got a chance to discuss names during their pregnancy.

She stared at the sleepy twin on her lap, and felt sad that they missed out on so much. “I’m sorry.” She kissed the twin, and leaned down to kiss the baby lying on Maksim’s chest.

Maksim’s large hand grabbed her jaw and led her face to his. Just when she thought he would kiss her, he connected their foreheads and closed his eyes. She sealed the tender moment with a kiss to his strong nose.

The spell was broken by the sound of the doorbell ringing. It was odd, because Maksim rarely got visitors.

“Could it be Viktor?”

“It better not be Knives,” Maksim muttered. He left her on the bed, and tossed on a shirt to answer the door. He returned only a minute later. “It’s Demyan,” he said. “He wants to see you.”

Demyan- formerly Daniel, tried many times to contact her in the past four months. She never answered, because she still felt used.

“Do I send him away?” Maksim offered.

“What… what happened with Tiffany?”

Maksim looked at the bed, and then at her. “I think it’s best if you don’t know.”

Raelynn swallowed and got off the bed. She would face Demyan, because he would remain a demon as long as she avoided him. She had enough demons.

She left the room, and Maksim stayed behind with the boys.

Demyan was pacing the living room.

“Hey,” she greeted.

He looked up. He looked handsome in his suit, but tired. “Hey, Rae… long time, huh?”

She nodded. “Yeah.”

“I’m so happy about the twins. You deserve that happiness. Look, I know you want to spend time with them so I’ll make this quick. I just wanted to say sorry, okay? I did want to keep tabs on Maksim through you, but then I genuinely considered you a friend.”

“I forgive you,” she interjected. “I do. I just- er, it seemed like I kept losing friends. I was upset, but that’s behind me. I have bigger things to worry about now.”

“Thank you.”

“You should stop by in a few weeks with Viktor so you can see the babies.”

He smiled. “I will. Kick Maksim in the balls for me if he gets too suffocating.”

“Fuck you!” Maksim yelled from the room.

He left with a grin, and Raelynn returned to the room. She just managed to sit on the bed when the doorbell rang again.

“I guess he forgot something,” Maksim muttered before leaving to answer the door again. His footsteps faded, and then the entrance opened.

“What are you doing here?”

Raelynn frowned as she placed a twin in the crib.

“I haven’t heard from you in hours. They told me that you never made it to Russia, so I came to check on you,” a female voice answered. It was his secretary. The other woman that was well-acquainted with his cock.

Jealousy ripped through Raelynn.

“I got caught up with a personal matter that kept me from the business in Russia,” Maksim explained. “What does it even matter? You do not report to me anymore”

“I know its a bit unprofessional, but I wanted to make sure you were... comfortable. I brought you lunch. I took off the crust just like you like it.”

Hearing enough, Raelynn picked up the twin that was still awake, and walked out the room.

“Hey, Maksim. Can you hold your son for a minute? Oh, hi there. You brought food?” Raelynn single-handedly tore open the container and took out a sandwich. The crust had been cut off. 

She stole the idea from her.

Raelynn took a bite of the thing as the other woman looked enraged.

“Mmm… it’s a little too dry, honey. Add some mayo or something next time.”

“Raelynn,” Maksim called out.

“You’re not needed, so you can go,” she dismissed her enemy. “Take the time off to learn how to cook.” She threw the sandwich at her feet and slammed the door in her face. It closed so loudly that she suspected the lock broke.

Shamefully, she realized what she had done. She turned slowly and raised the baby to protect herself.

Maksim was right there, toe-to-toe with her.

“I’m sorry?” she squealed.

Damn it, she really crossed a line this time.

Both she and the baby yelped with surprise when Maksim slammed her against his chest and shoved his tongue down her throat. Their son was safely tucked between them, but Raelynn feared her health was deteriorating from how fast her heart raced.

The baby made a confused noise as his parents devoured each other above him.

Maksim kissed Raelynn with four-months-worth of longing, and she’d be damned if she didn’t kiss him back.
