Alpha Adrian part 12

Adrian will get written and finished first. It'll be 25ish chapters, and then Akdronis' story will get written

“No,” she said. “No. You’ve got to be fucking–”

Adrian just laughed. “I’m starting to think that elevators don’t like us, Eva.”

They were stuck in a metal box. Again.

She narrowed her eyes on Adrian. “You’re not behind this, are you?”

He raised his hands. “I may be crazy enough to go after the girl whose family member I sued and faked a pregnancy with, but I’m not crazy enough to do this.”

She pulled the strap of her purse further up her shoulder and began to squirm. This couldn’t be happening. She didn’t want to be in the darkness, humiliated and afraid all over again.

“Hey.” Adrian touched the small of her back. “Don’t worry.”

He looked at the panel and pressed the ‘open doors’ button. Nothing happened, so he pushed the first floor button.

“It’s true. We’re stuck again.” She pulled out her phone and fidgeted. “No signal…”

Seeing that she was on the verge of panic, he brough this fist down on the panel hard enough to make walls rattle. To her amazement, the elevator began moving.

Instead of sighing with relief, she pulled his fist into her hands and looked for signs of damage. “Are you okay?”

The strike han’t been enough to hurt him, but he refused to admit that. Not when he could get special attention from his mate.

“It hurts a bit,” he lied.

Eva frowned. “You shouldn’t have done that,” she stroked the back of his hand gently, and Adrian wished he had broken his wrist instead. Maybe that would have earned him a kiss.

“Adrian,” she stared at his larger hand.

“Yes?”

“What’s with this weird electric current I feel when I touch your skin?”

He was saved by the bell when the elevator doors snapped open. He gestured for her to step out and followed her.

“The car is outside,” he said to change the topic.

This whole ‘I’m a werewolf— and not just any werewolf, an alpha,’ conversation would have to wait. The last thing he wanted was to scare her off. It would be hard to dance around the mysterious sparks and even harder to stress his schedule to make time for her, but it had to be done. He had one shot at this, and he couldn’t mess it up.

They drove to a nice restaurant, and she pointed out her neighborhood along the way. She was detail-oriented and passionate about the smallest memories. Eva was a simple woman, but she was made for bigger things. She would be a great Luna, and he would be a lucky bastard to have her standing beside him.

He opened her door and led her inside. It pleased him to see her awe. Money got him on her bad side, but it could pull him onto her good side if he played his cards right.

“Miller?”

He turned and found a werewolf — a beta. He offered Adrian a hand. “Hey man, how’s everything upstate?”

Adrian didn’t like this encounter. Not when Eva was so close and something could slip up.

“Great. I’ll give you a call tomorrow to catch up. It was good to see you.”

He left for their table.

“A friend of yours?” Eva asked.

“A business associate,” Adrian explained. He left it at that.

They chatted about the food first, and more about her childhood. There wasn’t much Adrian could share, so he kept his answers vague. Soon, he was teasing her about their earlier encounter with their ex and she was making fun of his ‘Albert’ nickname.

Their surroundings vanished, and Adrian couldn’t help but cover her hand with his. Eva no longer questioned the sparks between them. The night couldn’t be any more perfect. Her eyes twinkled under the chandelier, and he was sure his teeth were doing the same from how much damn smiling he was doing.

Their waiter came to check on them, and he realized that three hours, four glasses of wine, and a whole meal had gone by. It was getting pretty late, and it was time to let Eva go.

He called for the check and led her outside. They were giggling like teenagers as they remembered the second scare with the elevator.

“Just make sure to take the stairs when you get home,” he warned.

“I’m never stepping in another elevator again. I’d rather show up five hours early to take the stairs to the thirtieth floor.”

He held the door open for her. “I’m really glad my building collapsed on us and I got to meet you.”

She raised an eyebrow. “I’ll skip on the collapse, but you’re not too bad, Miller.”

“Can I see you again soon?”

She laughed. “Sure, as long as it’s not a hundred feed under rubble and debris.”

“Do I get a kiss to keep me together until then?”

“You know…” she leaned in. “For a rich guy, you’ve very needy.” He pecked him on the cheek, and the brief touch was enough to send his heart in overdrive.

The first thing Eva did when she got home was call Zya. She was still in her clothes as she paced and rambled on and on about the date.

Zya was more quiet than usual. She knew that she needed to watch her words or else she would tip off Adrian’s status. Eva would ask too many questions if she found out that they knew each other.

“So, it sounds like you like him and forgive him.”

Eva groaned. “I shouldn’t. It’s weird because of his relationship with Sam, but I can’t help it. He’s charming and so so cute.”

Zya raised an eyebrow. The alpha wouldn’t be too impressed by being called “cute.”

“That’s good. I’m happy for you. Will you be coming upstate for my sister’s birthday thing?”

Last time Zya checked, Adrian wouldn’t go to that event. It would be a perfect chance to catch up with Eva and give her a chance to relax.

“Yeah. I’ll go with you.”

“Awesome. It’s going to be thrilling.”

“You know….” Eva sighed. “Funny you say that word. There’s this weird thing that happens when Adrian and I touch. I thought it only happened because of the electrical conductivity in elevators, but it seems to happen everywhere else. What could it be? It’s staring to freak me out.”

“I’m not sure what you mean,” Zya blurted. She knew exactly what those sparks were, but she wasn’t the one that was supposed to explain it.

“Hey, I have to run. I’ll text you later, okay?”

“Aww okay. I’ll see you then.”

They hung up, and Eva was left staring at the flowers that Adrian brought her. She was glad the secrets between them were over. Now that she knew who he really was, they could build something together.
