Februfairy research
Added 2020-02-22 12:37:18 +0000 UTCOne of the perks of having a fantasy world created from zero by yourself its being able to add things and details here and there, make them your OWN.
Of course the bad part about this is that you have to create everything, and even an influence can be dangerous if you don't modify it in a positive way. I don't want people screaming at me because ' I screwed up their culture'.
For this, I wanted to heavily work on my Februfairy and take aspects of cultures and animals, twisting them so none of them are present IN REAL LIFE existing elements. They can remind you of them, but they won't be the same.
It's a lot of work, but it's still fun, at least until you reach the WINGS part. That's nasty research.

I've seen some functionalities for wings that make them useful for fast flight or slow, jumping, gliding or whatever. At the end I realized there are fast insects with similarities to slow one's and said 'whatever, I'm creating this from zero, it's a magical realm, it doesn't have to stick to our natural laws'. So that way we have this:
- Short wings : gliding, short flight, not really high. They get tired easily
- Long thin wings: just like dragonflies, these let you stay still on mid air but also fly super fast.
- Elaborated heavy detailed wings, kind of broad : fairies with these type of wings can fly fast, but not really as fast as the mid ones (unless they train like mad) and at least 95% of those who have them, are nobility.

The hardest part of this small project is to be original because I can and at the same time, really can't. Everything exists already so, how do you make something and try not to imitate? It's hard and it's being like hell, but I'm enthusiastic about it, at least.

Locations are one of my next nightmares, but I'm doing my best to enjoy the process and create pictures that, hopefully, will be placed in my portfolio. Fairy cultures will be a heavy influence to recreate their environments. It's a top priority! Every aspect of these magic creatures is related to their landscape.
You can ask me anything about this project, characters or process. Whatever is on your mind! I'll try to answer them all. Thanks for your time <3
