Dangerous Games Alternate Scene#4

Hey guys, so this an alternate scene for when Ethan encounters Sera during his job to steal the ledger from the War Kings for Erik in chapter 5. In this version of the scene, Sera recognizes Ethan's scent right away, and that's the main reason why I ended up not using it. I felt the encounter wasn't thrilling enough, also I felt I made Ethan too complaint and I wanted him to push back a bit.

Hope you guys enjoy it, please leave any feedback or thoughts down below.

As always Thank You For Reading!!!

“Hey there lover.” She calls out in a husky tone

Ethan’s eyes shoot back up to the woman’s face in shock and sees a small smile playing on her lips and recognition in her eyes. Ethan’s hand reaches up to his face, only to feel that his mask was still firmly in place.

“How-” Ethan begins, but catches himself and snaps his mouth shut.

The woman’s smile widens as she closes her eyes and takes a deep breath, “I could recognize that intoxicating scent anywhere.”

“Scent? What are you talking-”

Ethan’s words die on his lips as the woman opens her eyes, just like the night of the party, her violet eyes were glowing and the white of her eyes had turned black. She then blinks and her eyes are back to normal. The sound of men yelling draws Ethan’s attention to the window behind him. Looking down he sees the men who had been standing guard outside were now rushing in to find the source of the explosion.

“Do you have it?” The woman asks.

Ethan looks back at her, something in her voice and the way her gaze seemed to pierce through him sent a shiver down his spine. The woman was blocking the doorway and Ethan saw no openings for him to try and slip by. Fighting didn’t seem to be an option either, despite the sounds of fighting and gunfire earlier the woman didn’t seem to have a scratch on her. Even now Ethan could sense an overbearing pressure coming from her.

Her eyes narrowed from his lack of response, she was about to make her move when thinking fast Ethan grabs the side of his mask and call out to her.

“Don’t, unless you want a repeat of last time.”

It was a bluff, Ethan still had no idea what that light from last time was, he only hoped the threat of it would buy him enough time to think of a way past her. And it seemed work as the woman goes rigid at his warning.

“Your delaying the inevitable, come with me now and I promise I’ll be gentle.” She said in a low suggestive voice.

Ethan’s heartbeat quickens at her sensual promise and mentally shakes himself to get a grip, now wasn’t the time to be thinking with his lower half.

“I’m not going anywhere with you.”

At his words the air around the woman changes and her eyes began to glow again; Ethan could feel her displeasure at his refusal. Lifting her right hand, the woman flicks her middle finger with her thumb and what at first was a small spark turns into an orb of fire. Ethan couldn’t believe what he was seeing, the woman had created a fireball out of thin air. Ethan watched, struggling to understand how this was possible, as flames swirled around the orb floating above her hand. Unable to look away Ethan watched as the fireball grew smaller, she was purposely condensing it Ethan realized.

Ethan listens as the men rushing in earlier reach the top of the staircase behind the woman, at that moment the woman turns and in one fluid motion shoots the fireball in their direction. The fireball explodes sending a shockwave of air and dust along the ground, Ethan instinctually uses his arms to cover his face. As the dust settles; Ethan hears whatever left of the guards screaming and running in fear. Ethan’s whole body goes into a cold sweat as the woman slowly turns to face him, her violet eyes still glowing. Before he can react, she dashes forward grabbing both of his wrists. She then pushes him up against the glass window pinning his hands to sides if his head, subverting his bluff from earlier.

“Now then, I’ll ask again do you have it?” The woman asks as she looms over Ethan.

Ethan struggles to break free of her grip, but she’s too strong, she doesn’t even seem fazed by his struggling.

“Sorry, but my mother told me never to talk to strangers.” Ethan quips back, in an effort to buy time.

“I’d say getting to third base makes us more than strangers.” The woman quips back with a small smile.

Ethan was glad for his mask as could feel his face going red as memories of that night come rushing back. Then the woman did something unexpected, she let Ethan go and took a small step back.

“I think we both know I could just take what I want, but for the sake of our relationship I think it’d be best if I didn’t force you.”

Ethan stood there confused, “Relationship?”
